Chinese name registration can not proceed.
I do not believe this is an accurate description of the problem.  We tested Chinese name registration.  We are looking into your specific issue.

After running the client for several minutes I still have 0 connections and this is repeatedly printed to console

Code: [Select]

Is this because I am behind a NAT layer and I dont have any port forwarding configured?

This is because Keyhotee ID blockchain network isn't up, just the email part.  The console is safe to ignore, if there is a crash you will be presented with a dialog with a copy of the console output that you can send to us.

I have a founder ID, and basically I completed the whole registration process without any error, however I am not very satisfied with my current brain wallet code, is there anyway that I can change? I tried creating a new profile and ect, however it kept saying the founder ID has been registered, so does this mean I have to use that brain wallet for ever?

If you contact Stan with old and new key then we can manually correct this for you.

Ok I think I found one.

When you restart your Keyhotee there are no contacts in your contact list bar in the left, you have to manually scroll through them and click on them one by one to get them listed again in contacts list

My founder ID has no "founder" mark. :(
Someone's normal id has "founder" mark.

Founder marks are not applied yet because we have not initialized genesis block.   No worries.

Actually, it shouldn't be.   I have code in there to convert it all to lower case.

Ok... let me look into this and get you instructions on how to send me the log file.   Sometimes an exception being thrown at startup will appear like a rejected password.

Worst case we can recreate your profile from with the same information you entered the first time, but I would really like to track down the cause of this problem.

Same problem here when closing and re-opening Keyhotee. 'Unable to load profile' . I'm sure my password is correct. Just a wild guess could it be possible that it fails on spaces in the data path? I tried moving it to c:'s root but it's still looking for the original desktop path.

This seems to be a major low-level bug... either:

1) The file was corrupted when saved
2) The password it thinks you are entering is not the same as the one from the Profile wizard.

Here is what I would do to attempt to fix it in the short term:
1) Move this C:/Users/andhar/AppData/Local/KEYHOTEE/profiles/Andreas Haraldsvik/  to a backup location outside your profiles directory
2) Relaunch Keyhotee and recreate your profile with the same information you entered the first time.

We will attempt to get to the bottom of this.

This isn't so much of a bug, but there's a few things I've noticed that are a little unattractive. When I receive a message or send one, it comes up as "From" public key rather than ID, and when I reply to a message say 10 times, I see 10 "RE:'s" in the subject line. If I replied 100 times I would probably see 100 RE:'s in the subject line.

Another thing that has already been posted here is when you relaunch Keyhotee, the list or your contacts to the left disappears, and you have to select your contacts again for them to re-appear in the contacts list. I was also able to add myself to the contacts list and send chat messages to myself.

Also I tried adding arcke to my contacts using his ID but Keyhotee failed to find it saying "Unable to find ID". I asked him to send me his ID exactly as he entered it but still nothing. Could this be a bug?

Coming from a public key prevents spoofing until the Keyhotee blockchain is in place.  In that case if the name is registered it will display the name.  In the mean time ALL names are unregistered and thus must be in your addressbook to display a name.  This is working as designed to maximize security.

The Re: Re: Re: ... has already been filed by me as a bug to be fixed.

The contacts on the left were meant to be recent contacts for which you have open chat conversations.  If you click on the CONTACTS label you can view your entire address book.   This is an area that is not as I would like.

Chat functionality is currently not supported.

I suggest the Contact List should be split to 2 main part,
myself:match with local private key
contact:not match with local private key

At the most probability, it may be located at:
C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\KEYHOTEE\profiles\xxxx\

got you and I just realized today that keyhotee ID is case sensitive...

Actually, it shouldn't be.   I have code in there to convert it all to lower case.

If you contact Stan with old and new key then we can manually correct this for you.

You can email Stan at contact.us@invictus-innovations.com.  Be sure to include your ID and registration code.

sent email yesterday, however did not get any response so far.

I suggest the Contact List should be split to 2 main part,
myself:match with local private key
contact:not match with local private key

I agree

After creating my ID it shows up in the Contact List.
Then I tried to delete it and it worked.
Then I tried to add again my identity by using the menu Identity | New identity but I could not, because it shows the message:
Quote
Status: You have already created this identity.

If I exit Keyhotee and enter again, I enter as my previous deleted identity BUT my ownership identity does not show up in the contact list.

Click on "CONTACTS" on the left and it will bring up all of your contacts.

Keyhotee has become very slow for me all of a sudden. I'm trying to delete messages since they're just piling up and every time I try to delete one my client freezes and says (Not Responding) at the top for a couple minutes before working again. This has been the same with trying to read new messages.

But now after posting this it's not freezing anymore.

1. I created 2 IDs and using 1 to send an email to another, the mail stayed in the outbox and wasn't sent...

2. Can I send emails to myself, that is using 1 ID and send email to the same ID?

3. I Create an identity and then delete them, there's nowhere to recover the ID? I re-create the same ID, it reports 'you have created this ID...

I will file tickets on these bugs.

Yes you can send from one id to the same id.

Has there been a fix for the 100% progress bar hanging / password-not-working issue yet?

I've had the same issues on both 32-bit and 64-bit Win 7 machines.

I've had the same issues on both 32-bit and 64-bit Win 7 machines.

It is a high priority issue that is hard to reproduce on our own systems. That said, Super3 has experienced it and is working with Dan Notestein to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply - I'll try to make some time to test it on XP, Vista and 8 sometime this evening.

Thanks, bob, that will be very helpful. We're can't yet repeat this on any of our development machines, so we're looking for some common factor in the systems where this hang is occurring. It doesn't appear to be just a factor of the data entered.

I have one idea about the hang during profile creation: I'm concerned about how much memory is being contiguously allocated in a win32 application for the seed_stretching. We'll build a Win64 version tomorrow and see if that gets around this issue.

I know this is just an Alpha release , but are you planning to keep this GUI  in the long run? I've lots of ideas to improve the usability and make it more attractive to the big crowd. If there are some new GUI screenshots available I'd love to see them as well.

Ok I'm gonna work on those, since I got Keyhotee up and running it's a lot easier for me as well. Thiswas just being made as an alternative for the first screenshot which appeared somewhere , not really much thought went into this one though so I don't expect it to resurface again but it shows the basics of where I'd like to see it go.

1) I tested sending a 650kb attachment to myself and successfully received it in my inbox.  Then I selected Diagnostic from the Help menu, and Keyhotee hangs, probably due to the massive amount of text shown on the console due to the attachment.

2) At first, I thought that there was no way to see from the main window that the message I sent to myself had an attachment, but it turns out on my Linux system that it's very hard to see the blue paperclip on a blue background when the message is selected.

3) Keyhotee attempts to create a channel0 subdirectory in the current working directory, regardless of what that directory is.  This is a mild nuisance when the user has write access to the current working directory.  When the user does not have write access to the current working directory (for example, /usr on a Linux system), my profile cannot be unlocked even when I enter the correct login password.

Code: [Select]
1963931ms th_a       LoginDialog.cpp:57            onLogin              ] error unspecified
Unable to create directories channel0/cache_chan_2

    th_a  application.cpp:273 configure

    {}
    th_a  application.cpp:355 load_profile

I built Keyhotee from this git commit (https://github.com/InvictusInnovations/keyhotee/commit/2321593bfbf804716c1d8294d9cbc16a3b788fb0).

We're releasing a fix for hang during profile creation that will probably fix your issue, unless you're building from source and built recently. We're planning to release the Windows binary late tomorrow, assuming no problems crop up.

As of this git commit (https://github.com/InvictusInnovations/keyhotee/commit/1c3bdc6fa9aedc80a806d49aac08797150f87212), I see "invalid ID/FounderKey Pair" on a yellow background between my Keyhotee ID and the gold "Keyhotee Founder" banner when I view my own contact.  Previously I saw "registered with 319.5 pts" where the invalid ID message now displays.  I am using the same Keyhotee profile that I created prior to my previous post in this thread.

Looks like the Keyhotee Founder ID registration server went down, and I believe this was probably your issue (Keyhotee queries that server to see if your founder id is registered). I looked at the commits and didn't see anything that should have caused a problem. Can you launch Keyhotee to see if it's reporting properly again now?

It is reporting properly now - "Registered with 319.5 points".  Thanks for the quick fix.  Does this mean that I do not necessarily need to fill out http://invictus-innovations.com/founder-sign-up/ (http://invictus-innovations.com/founder-sign-up/) unless my public key changes due to creating a profile with a different brain wallet key phrase?

Opening Keyhotee again, the Inbox shows several duplicates of messages that I received during my last Keyhotee session approximately one hour ago, all with the same received time as the original messages.  I estimate 5-6 duplicate messages.

I closed and re-opened Keyhotee, and now I counted 52 (!) duplicate messages, again all with the same received time as the original messages.

I closed and re-opened Keyhotee a third time, and now I count approximately 139 duplicate messages with the same received time.

Here is the diagnostic log for my most recent Keyhotee session:

It is reporting properly now - "Registered with 319.5 points".  Thanks for the quick fix.  Does this mean that I do not necessarily need to fill out http://invictus-innovations.com/founder-sign-up/ (http://invictus-innovations.com/founder-sign-up/) unless my public key changes due to creating a profile with a different brain wallet key phrase?
That's my current understanding of the registration system, although I'll check tomorrow to confirm that.

It sounds similar to an issue that Bytemaster reported to me today and that he thinks is likely caused by a bug that causes the client to refetch mail it's already fetched. I'll file an issue on github for it and we'll investigate it soon.

I keep checking back to see if the new alpha release for keyhotee is out but I'm not quite sure where it will be posted.

So, I'm asking again. I'm having the 100% profile issue.

This was released a couple days ago:
I've uploaded new Keyhotee alpha 2 release binary for Windows to:
 http://invictus.io/bin/keyhotee_0.5.2.zip

The main focus for this release was fixing bugs associated with profile creation and loading, including problems related to network issues and foreign language characters. It also has better reporting of successful registration of Keyhotee Founder IDs (previously this could only be checked when creating an identity, now this info is persistently available in the contact info page for that identity). We plan to release a linux binary in a few days, assuming no major problems are reported in the interim.

keyhotee git commit - e786efe4e36d5464febfc951ed559076043c8a47
BitShares git commit - d5d48b24b65afd4db7985370ce61547485ab71e0
fc git commit - 90deb63fcdce7309fae111caf5e7bac5e72ee983

Keyhotee hangs indefinitely after I unlock my profile but before the main window is displayed.

Tail end of console output (since I cannot access Diagnostic from the Help menu without the main window):

I re-tried unlocking this profile today with the same result of hanging indefinitely.  I moved the hanging profile to another directory and re-created my profile and ID without experiencing any hang between unlocking my profile and displaying the main window.

I have saved the hanging profile just in case a potential solution needs testing in the future.

I have also successfully sent and received messages between profiles using different public keys and cannot reproduce the issue of duplicate messages in my inbox.

That'll be fixed soon, you caught me in the middle of some commits back forth between platforms, but it shouldn't matter anyways, that error only affects building the founder name registration database server (which isn't part of keyhotee really).

Question: regarding broadcasting e-mail in version 0.5.2. I cant seem to be able to send a message to broadcast emails. When pasting a public ID in the send slot nothing happens. The send button don't get active. Has any one of you guys managed to broadcast from this latest version? Send me a message: 5YXH8GvvBDLxu1tQJzHECEw7F8WynGeK21R863wRb9ksmHvzVd

I noticed the same behavor as you described in the Keyhotee client that I compiled yesterday (2014-01-20) on Linux; simply pasting your public key into the "To:" field in the Mail message window does not activate the send button.  I worked around this issue by adding your public key to a new contact, then putting that contact in the "To:" field.

I'm not sure if this would be considered a bug, but it's not what I would expect from an email client, where I can copy and paste an email address without adding it as a contact.  It might not be an issue once we are communicating using the actual Keyhotee IDs instead of public keys.

fc git commit ff2173c8d60629a278e48614baaa292463c572cf

I may have figured out how to reproduce the issue of duplicate messages in the inbox (issue #238) (https://github.com/InvictusInnovations/keyhotee/issues/238), but I will need to re-create my profiles since they no longer open after login (issue #237) (https://github.com/InvictusInnovations/keyhotee/issues/237).

I received two separate messages that were sent in the same minute from one of my contacts.  I closed and re-opened the profile, and those two messages multiplied to 7 messages (1 of them unread).  Repeating this process, the messages multiplied further to 19 to 60 to 113 to 226 to 430; each time, one of the messages was unread.  Finally I deleted all the duplicate messages, intending to keep the two original messages.  I closed and re-opened my profile and noticed many instances of these messages on the console:

The original two messages had disappeared from this profile.  I closed and tried to re-open this profile, but Keyhotee hung indefinitely until I killed the process.

Earlier when my two profiles were functioning properly, I sent 3 messages within a 1-2 minute period from my Founder ID in one profile to a spare identity in the other profile.  When I opened the spare identity profile, I received all 3 messages.  I closed and re-opened the profile, and there were 6 messages (3 of them unread).  I'm guessing that sending multiple messages from one ID to another in a relatively short period of time (less than 15 minutes, if I recall correctly based on the first time this happened earlier this month) somehow contributes to the duplication of inbox messages for the recipient.

Edit: I forgot to mention that Keyhotee crashed when I attempted to delete the hundreds of duplicate messages.  Here is the console output:

I can talk with Dan about this as I know the cause.   It fails because the last sync time was not properly saved and it fetches the messages a second time

Hi Andhar,

There's no real way to lose your FounderId (at least not prior to release of the genesis block). I'm presuming the keyhoteeID (kID) in question is "andhar". I've checked the founder registration server and no public key has yet been registered for this kID, so it's still possible to register it with Keyhotee itself if you want.

My first question is, do you currently have the latest alpha version installed (0.5.2). This version is only prebuilt for windows currently, so if you're on Linux, you would need to either wait for our Linux binary release (which has been delayed some by some new dependencies that were added to the code, but is again near ready for release) or build one yourself.

Next, assuming you have 0.5.2 running, do you have a profile and identity created that you are able to login in to? If not, go ahead and create one per previous instructions. Note there's two separate steps here: create profile then do "New Identity" from the menu option after logging into profile.

If you already have a profile generated, you have two options: 1) create a new profile and identity and register that new public key by using your FounderCode (this is the option I would recommend), or 2) fill out the founder form with info from your existing profile using the link below:

http://invictus-innovations.com/founder-sign-up/

The downside to option 2 is that you won't be able to get any immediate feedback in KeyHotee that your id is registered, since there's a manual step we have to do on this side to move the info from the web form database to the server that KeyHotee queries for registration points.

I downloaded http://www.invictus.io/bin/keyhotee_0.5.3.gz (http://www.invictus.io/bin/keyhotee_0.5.3.gz)

I'm able to run it offline, but it freezes from the moment I plug in the internet cable.

What Linux version are you using? Also, what happens when you start it with your ethernet cable already plugged in (i.e. do you get any GUI at all this way, if so, how far can you get)?

I was using Ubuntu 12.04.3

If I start out with the ethernet cable  plugged in, it works. I tried with some test-profiles.

If I start out offline and create my Founder ID, it freezes from the moment I plug in, so I wasn't able to verify my registration.

Thanks

Thanks for the additional info. I've filed a github issue for it and we'll start looking into this.

That's the correct display, although it's quite confusing, I agree. The 0 connections means it's not connected to any peers (as peer connections are disabled in the current alpha release of KH). The mail server doesn't count as a peer for this display. So, in short, you're as connected as you can get with the current version of KH, and you should be able to create an identity and send mail to other KH users.

Crashes when I input Chinese character "?" in the compose mail window, popping diagnostic window.

But the diagnostic log dumps so much personal information that I don't want to post them here.

UPDATE:
It crashes EVERY TIME I input that character in Chinese input method(I've tried 2 sorts of Chinese input method), but not when I compose my mail in notepad.exe ant ctrl-c, ctrl-v to compose mail window.

As Keyhotee is a QT-based application, we're just using the default language services provided by the framework, without any special customization. As I understand it (another guy here looked into this more than me), it tries to detect the default language from your computer. The language it uses can be overriden by setting the LANG environment variable. For example, by LANG to zh_CN. Here's

As for I know, a Chinese guy (i don't remember now who' that) of the community translated the ui i18n file and you accepted his pull request.

What I really care is, how can I set the language to English, rather than zh_cn, which is the system language of my OS. I think we need a gui setting dialog to do things like this. Or at least a config file to set an application specific language setting, rather than apply the global system var without option. Considering ordinary users don't install qt himself nor config qt itself.

Ok, I've added an issue to github to add GUI support for setting the language so that it overrides the default setting and the environment variable.

I'v experienced it, too. I tried several times and I guessed it was uncompatibility of old address book format in old profile files generated by old version of keyhotee.
So I deleted all profile files and regenerated my profile from memory alone. Then it solved.

Hi,

I am using now the latest Kehottee version 05.3 and my status still appears unregistered.
In addition something strange is happening. I have sent an email with kehotee to Phoenix to Godscreation and it shows that it went to Phoenix. I have sent an email to Phoenix it shows that it went to bytemaster, I have sent an email to all three of them and no one replied... When I sent the emails I have send them by putting their names not their key as i have all three of them in my contact list, but the emails appear confused...

Any ideas? My status is still showing unregistered although Stan confirmed a long time ago that I am all set up. Am I still registered and I should't worry about it? Also can you please clarify by beeing a kehotee founder how many AGS i will receive with my points? Do I receive anything else or only AGS? When is the estimated release date?

Thank you very much for your help.

Are you using 0.5.3 as you indicated above? If so, this could be the problem, as there was a change in message formats between 0.5.3 to 0.5.5 (compression of message was added, which changed decoding of messages slightly). I think this is very likely the root cause of this issue.

Possibly you're on Linux? Anyways, this has got me thinking, so we'll get out a Linux binary soon of 0.5.5, since if this is what is causing this bug, a new Linux binary is a higher priority than I was previously thinking.

In answer to your question about your Founder ID, it's properly registered in database with this key, so you're set to go.

As far as AGS distribution goes, I think Stan sent you separate msg with info about it, since this is somewhat outside of my area.

It looks like this problem was caused by a small "fix" that was introduced in 0.5.5. It was supposed to make a slight improvement to the code that auto-completes email addresses, but it had some unintended consequences. The completer code has been totally overhauled and this bug was fixed as part of that, so a version built from github will have the fix.

We'll put up a new binary release with the fix soon, we're just holding off until after the 28th, since I want to keep the focus on Founder registration until then, and the current release binary has no known bugs related to founder registration.

Hi toast,

Yes, I tested it myself and you're correct. Passport/driver's license also didn't affect it. I've committed a new version of this dialog that removes these fields, since it's just extra work for no purpose to enter this info, plus it's confusing. So now it's just first, middle, last name, brainwallet key, and password that are accepted.

We've determine that a bug crept in to 5.5 related to address completion, that's why these messages are going to wrong destination. We've fixed the code in github, and we're making a binary release (0.5.6) on Monday with the fix. I definitely wouldn't bother sending out emails until that version.

For all you Mac OS testers out there, just saw this post in another thread by drekrob:
The jenkins server we are setting up already supplies nightly builds for mac and linux here:

Would be nice to get some feedback if they run, cause i can only test them on the build server. If any dependencies are missing i would not notice as they are installed there.

I updated the details in the issue link you gave me. But what about my another issue?

1. Every time I launch the application, it receives several mails (the same ones every time) which are marked unread.
We've had a github issue open for this one for a bit, as it's been reported in the past. But it's an intermittent bug that's hard to duplicate (and therefore hard to debug). Once you get it, it repeats, but we haven't had it occur on our systems lately to debug it. We certainly haven't forgot it, we consider it a high priority issue.

You can get my public key in my signature. Have you ever checked it in your server's blockchain? I think we need to figure out whether the issue is caused in sender or blockchain server or receiver (my client).

I've been analyzing the relevant code for the past two days, and I *think* I know the problem and a solution. It's going to require a minor tweak to the mail server, so I'm going to make the change tomorrow when I'm better rested (working thru a cold for a couple of days).

This is not a bug but i do not know where else to put it.

When trying to run Keyhotee version 0.6.1 on Windows 8.1 x64 I got error missing MSVCP110.dll. When trying to install fix with libraries: "A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine."
After manually downloading missing dll getting 0xC000007B application error.

Trying to find solution now, not sure is it a problem only on my machine or global.

Looks like the new windows installer grabbed the wrong copy of libeay.dll (one that required VS2010 redistributable) and I guess you're not finding the proper version. I'll try to put up a new windows version today that doesn't require it.

Is it possible you have another copy running? Only one copy can open a particular profile at any given time (that's happened before to me).

yeah just one copy. But I suspected that Keyhotee application was still in RAM (not totally unload) when I rerun it.

Apologies if this has already been reported.  I took a quick look but was too lazy to check it all!!

Got Norton Virus Warning when I downloaded it and it removed it as a "Suspicious.Cloud.7.EP" virus.

You're the first to report this, but I'm pretty sure it's a false positive (unless you downloaded it from somewhere other than invictus.io/bin, then anything goes). I know Norton occassionally reports a false positives for SynaptiCAD products when we release a new version, then we have to file a report with Norton so that they analyze the problem and update their database to tell their virus analyzer that everything is ok.

(Warning: NewBie comments ahead!)...

Quickly played around with latest Keyhotee client.  Some comments:

It's not clear to me the relationships between the profile and associated "brain wallet" pass phrase vs contacts and their keys and "Identities" and their keys.  Really need to explain how this all is related.

It wasn't clear to me if I had to go to brainwallet site and get this info and/or whether I needed to use that for creating an identity or whether that was something else like my personal public key ....

Maybe cause I'm so new and haven't had time to follow everything but even in that case, maybe it's good feedback from a mostly uninformed user!

Also, contact list didn't seem to update immediately at times.  I took bytemaster's public key and tried to send him a message but since I'm not registered with a founder ID, not sure if it worked.  It did show up in my sent folder so that's good.

Concept is great.

I look forward to understanding profiles and brainwallet, identities, contacts and their respective keys.

It should be fine to delete the old profile folders. Can you email me the log file created by KH when you crash?

The easiest way to find the log on the Mac is to launch a terminal, then type "open $TMPDIR" which will open a Finder window showing the contents of your temporary folder.  Our log file will be a file whose name starts with "qt_temp."

Hi,

I have done a format to my pc and re installed Kehotee last version from the forum (0.7.92 i think). When I was downloading it came with a warning message that it could harm my pc. I have ignored it and downloaded anyway, but when I run it I got an error message that MSC...dll. something was missing from my pc.

Can you please redirect me to the latest version to me sure?

Thanks!

That should have done it, but you can search for that file on your disk, and copy that and the other dlls you find there to your Keyhotee directory (in program files directory).

Try this one. Looks like it's Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4. Get the right one for your system x86 or x64.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679

I noticed I was not running 0.7.92, I guess it does not do an upgrade, so I uninstalled all versions, then the put the V C++ 2012 update, then installed latest Keyhotee. It's all working for me now.

0.7 will give you a different public key than previous versions of Keyhotee (that's the reason that Founders are being required to re-register) and the founder server database was cleaned and set to only accept public keys generated by 0.7 and up.

Looks like your id is registered in the founder server as 883E...Gd5, so you've registered with 0.7. Is this not the key your client is currently showing when you create your new identity? If so, you must be entering some information different than when you created the profile previously. In particular, be sure you're using the same capitalization for everything as previously.

The correct key should be  883E...Gd5...

When I create a new ID all I do is put my Kehotee ID and founder code and the key is different now with no points assigned.

Do you suggest I made a mistake on the main screen when I put my brain wallet and password and names? If so how do I amend this? Do  I need to re install kehotee and do the procedure from the beggining or there is another way to go to the main screen?

Here's the steps you'll need to do:

0) You do NOT need to re-install Keyhotee.

1) With Keyhotee not running, delete your existing Keyhotee profiles using file explorer. Your profiles are located in the directory:
%LOCALAPPDATA%/Keyhotee

Each subdirectory in this directory represents a profile you've created. You can delete this entire Keyhotee directory to delete all your existing profiles.

2) Launch keyhotee. If you deleted all your profiles, you will be prompted to create a profile, otherwise you can press the New profile button on the sign-in page to create a profile.

3) I go to create new ID ==> put my Kehotee founder ID and another key is generated (it doesn't change irrespective if I put the founder code or not..

Why do I have to create again a new ID? Since I register again with the same names, passwords, brain wallet phrase shouldn't my ID appear automatically on my contact?

Your ID itself isn't generated from your profile data, it's additional data. You can have multiple IDs in one profile, for example. But, the key generated for that ID is dependent on the "ID name" and the data in the profile.

Ok...what should  I do now to generate the same public key? I have done the process twice and it doesn't generate the correct key...

What are the options?

I assume that you have to delete my registration and then I re register? Please advise.
What happens if I format my pc again in the future and I experience the same problem? Once the blockchain is launched I assume that deleting my registration and restarting won't be an option correct?

Yes, basically all the above is correct. It's very important to record your exact profile information when generating your profile and your identity, so that you can regenerate your identity's key. You can either take screenshots of the profile and new identity dialogs before closing them (and also manually record your password for the profile itself), or record all the information manually and double check it for accuracy (including capitalization). This requirement is also one of the reasons I eliminated a number of the fields from the profile creation screen (to reduce the burden of recalling this data when re-generating a profile).

I've cleared your registration, so you should be able to register now with your new public key.

Thank you! :) :) :)

I have re registered and repeated the process twice to be certain and came out with the same key.

new key: 5vb...RBpv

I assume I am ok now. please confirm otherwise.

P.S: This happened because I format my pc and have re installed everything. I always write down all passwords so I believe that I did use the same passwords and brain wallet. Could it be that for example when I reset my pc, in settings I put keyboard US and previously could have been keyboard UK? I hope not and I hope that I made a mistake in my passphrase or else this could be a problem in the future since I will always have to remember what keyboard I used when I registered kehotee in every new pc...

ftp://178.63.85.22/Keyhotee/MacOS/2014-04-05_00-01-42/Keyhotee.dmg

But still when tried to finish profil creation process keyhotee shut down with an error message.
So how i could register my Founder ID, if i don't get keyhotee work on my local machine!?
Please help my to get my founder ID registered.

C
Looks like there is some mac-specific issue that's affecting some users when creating a profile. Bytemaster has a machine at home that has this problem, so he's going to debug it there.

Hello,
I have a MacBook Pro 10.7.5 running on a MAC OS X Lion. As soon as I try to run the Keyhotee program, it stops every time and a window opens telling me that "Keyhotee quit unexpectedly". I tried pushing the "Ignore" and, after, the "Reopen" buttons, but nothing happens…  :(  Any suggestions because, apparently, I need to have my re-registration done before the 1st.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions, they are well needed at this point. Thank you, namaste   :)

Give the problems that have come up since the "register by the 1st" deadline was posted, I think it's reasonable to assume that the deadline is going to be pushed out some. I'll confirm that with Bytemaster and Stan tomorrow morning.

I have problem installing KH 0.7.0...
some dll file was missing. the problem wasnt fixed when I downloaded the required file. the error shown then said that "something was not designed for something bla bla".

can someone help please ?

TLDR: I too had this issue with 0.7.92-win32 on x64.  Resolved by installing 0.7.100:
ftp://178.63.85.22/Keyhotee/Windows/2014-04-27_00-00-43/Keyhotee-0.7.100-win32.exe

Detail:
Machine 1: Windows Server 2012 R2 with C++ 2012 Redistribute Update 4
Machine 2: Windows 8 (x64) with C++ 2012 Redistribute Update 4

Running Keyhotee 0.7.92 would produce the error MSVCP110.dll is not found.

I went to the Windows folder on the FTP server:
ftp://178.63.85.22/Keyhotee/Windows/
Found the latest update by date (0.7.100 at the time) and installed.

Result: worked fine.

0.7.100  works for me also .. so guess issue on this is fixed...

Does upgrading work yet? Or should we be uninstalling the old build before installing the new one?

It shouldn't really matter, but I would uninstall old versions just to avoid accidentally running them. I've updated the windows link, btw, to here:

ftp://178.63.85.22/Keyhotee/Windows/2014-04-27_00-00-43/Keyhotee-0.7.100-win32.exe

No worries, thanks. Yeah, the pinned icon was pointing to an old version. I was wondering why it wouldn't load the current version for a sec until I noticed the path.

There are no profiles in that directory.

I am on Windows 8.

My first wallet was keyhotee_0.5.5, which worked fine.

Since I tried to update to the latest version (0.7.100), I have been unable to access my old account.

When I launch Keyhotee, it recognizes my Profile name, but when I enter the password the result is an error alert that my profile was not found.

At this point I am stuck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the pointer.

Yes, Keyhotee is now installed. I created a new profile. But it's not clear how I can apply my old keyhotee ID and foundercode to the new wallet. I tried to Create New Identity, but it did not match my old Public Key and Founderscode.

So now there is a new identity with my old Keyhotee ID and a new founderscode. Results in error, "Invalid ID/FounderKey Pair"

The public key will change, this is expected, that's why we're re-registering. You enter the founder's code, so I'm confused about what you mean by this didn't match...

I created a new profile, then logged into keyhotee.

Then I click CREATE NEW IDENTITY, and enter my existing Founder Code.

Then if I view SHOW DETAILS of my new Identity, it shows my name, my Keyhotee ID, and my public key. My Founder Code shows up in the NOTES section of SHOW DETAILS. Then there is a YELLOW alert box that says "Invalid ID/FounderKey Pair".

So it's a bit perplexing.

Check in task manager to be sure you don't have a copy of Keyhotee still running in a zombie-like state. Possibly the best way to do this is to reboot, then try re-running.

I'm not sure if this will help any or not, since it looks like everything is there, but you could try downloading the free "dependency walker" tool to check if there's a missing DLL. This is probably only worthwhile if you have some programming background, however. Dependency walker is here:

In the meantime: 0.7.1 is running on a win7/64 machine. Reading the name from the copied 0.7.0 profile was o.k., but it did not acknowledge the pw. Therefore a new attempt to build the identity was needed.
