I am proud to formally announce that work has begun on the first site to convert a bitasset to its physical form: cryptosmith.info
The goal of Cryptosmith is simple, leverage Bitsilver's pegging against is real world counterpart for physical redeem-ability. This will site will act as a exit ramp only and will serve to show every merchant out their what can be done with bitasset's. While our competitor's want to "help" you hold your precious metals at the cost of storage fees and added counter-party risk, our goal is to get your precious metals to you safely and quickly.
When a user visit's our site they can expect a pure and simple shopping experience. From your product selection, to the time your precious metal hits your door rest assured that you are in good hands. As such all packages are tracked, insured and signature confirmation is required.
At launch we are pleased to announce shipping to the following countries:

Belgium

Hong Kong SAR China

Ireland
Isle of Man

We have to respect the laws of every location that we ship to, all package contents are noted with the shipper for tracking and insurance purposes.

Do you have any idea as to the obstacles there are to providing this service in South American counties? The land of silver could really use some bitSilver.
I am finding that each country presents its own unique obstacles, with that being said we will support the above countries at launch and work to add as many as legally possible.

Easy: crypto is not considered a currency. It is considered property. You are not purchasing silver. Instead, you are bartering for it. Different rules apply.

I think both of the services that we offer complement each other. I would go as far as to suggest, I want to see a silver Cryptohedge bot and you want to see a gold product offered by Cryptosmith. Thoughts?

I think it's kinda ironic we got this going before we got something working for fiat.
Nonetheless.. with the bunker and our Bank of Canada vault that we plan to line with safety deposit boxes both for documents, valuables, and cold storage data, it is often suggested by some that it would be a great place for storage of gold and silver and other precious metals as well. You get the protection of a nuclear bunker, combined with a safe, and of course we would make the necessary legal work to ensure the utmost in trust and protection.
Not trying to hijack the thread or anything.. I think this is all awesome.. the subject of storage and where to send it was mentioned so I thought it might be worth it to get a sense of interest. In terms of fees.. we might be able to 'bundle' it somehow with data services from DSN or some other arrangement as well to save on that. Any feedback is appreciated. Otherwise.. how do you store it?

Are all orders going to ship to all the countries available from the US, or will some orders ship from within the country where the shipment is to be delivered?

On that note I should introduce the lead developer on the project jsidhu. We have been in touch and talking for a few weeks now ironing out the details.

I would encourage people to give them a shot, to get a feel for the shopping experience we will offer. These are demo carts and no money is actually exchanged.

On launch date all orders will ship from the US. We are actively seeking local partner's in other countries service customers better.

We would accept Bitsilver directly.
No need for SS or any other exchange.
The products show on the site right now are for demo and testing only and will be replaced with precious metals.

The site has 2 goals in mind.
1. Sell precious metals globally using bit assets as the ONLY forms of accepted payment.
2. Act as a funnel driving people to the Bitshares main site so that they can learn about the advantages of Bitshares.

This is great. It's a thankless job, because you'll have to keep margins low, and it will pay off only when you are doing some volume. Can you have the metals drop-shipped by a wholesaler or do you have to box up Eagles in your garage? Either way, I'm sure we all appreciate your work.

lol please remember the clothes are only for testing purposes and will be brought down but rumor has it that precious metals make great gifts and are sure to win over any recipient.

Once we have launched I will began announcing this on a larger scale, to promote the site and Bitshares as a whole. We want to test the site within the community and make sure the user experience is up to par before promoting it
to new users. This will allow everyone to see the best of what Bitshares has to offer.
