Reddit's cryptocurrency engineer seems like he would be hostile to Bitshares. He's into the Bitcoin blockchain to the point of supporting Colored Coin.

Maybe they haven't ruled BTS out completely yet. He just hasn't done his research on it yet!

I told him they might find the UIA features useful in the parent post. Especially if these notes are supposed to be redeemable for company stock.

I don't really get what purpose redditnotes serve? Are they IOUs with a fixed peg to the dollar or are they suppose to have their own market price?
If they are in some way supposed to represent "shares" in reddit, then I would imagine they would benefit from dividends and voting.
If redditnotes were implemented with BitShares UIA, then the proposal voting feature of UIA allows reddit to let redditnote holders vote on proposals affecting reddit.com. So that is one advantage our solution already has (or very soon will have) over others.
Dividends could be implemented by batch transfers of BitUSD to redditnote holders, but to be really useful it would be nice if that functionality was built into the code base (see the five posts starting here (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=11921.msg158725#msg158725)). If we had such a feature it would make UIAs even more useful and provide another advantage of our system over other ones.

Hey friends, reddit cryptocurrency engineer here. The post is deliberately vague about technology and legal. For one, we're holding back on committing to a particular technology just because the bitcoin world changes very fast, and we want to make sure we pick the right choice. However, almost certainly it will be either colored coins or sidechains.
Legally, we originally announced we're issuing a "cryptocurrency" that will be "backed" by reddit shares. Issuing such a thing would be illegal since we are not a public company. We have mostly figured out a legal strategy that allows us to give something of actual value to the community, but we are not ready at this moment to announce it.
This post was simply to update the community on our progress (i.e., it is called reddit notes), and to show you the subreddit you can follow to stay up-to-date if you wish: /r/redditnotes
Looks like nothing major is decided in regards to which cryptocurrency they are going to pick. There could be an opening for us here. Also are they aware we are using "notes" for BitShares Music? I really think they should go with Creddits instead, it's so perfect!
