Post by: nethyb on July 26, 2014, 07:19:19 am
MineBitShares.com - A virtual mining multi-pool for BitShares
Making the unminable, mineable! - Coming Soon

I'm initiating a delegate campaign to support MineBitShares.com.

MineBitShares.com is a mining pool which will direct the miners hashing power to mine the most profitable traditional POW based crypto currencies that is automatically exchanged for BTSX and paid daily to miners.

It’s likely the pool will help attract and retain new members of the crypto community to BitShares, and by automatically selling other crypto currencies to buy BitSharesX, it’ should also have a positive effect on the price.

When the BitSharesX asset exchange is launched we could even enable miners to mine gold - or at least the value in BitGOLD! Imagine the possibilities!

luckybit kicked off a great discussion and poll earlier in the year -  “If a multipool were set up today to directly mine for BTS as payout how would you react?” and it looked liked two thirds of those polled we’re interested.  http://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3587.0 (http://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3587.0)

The pool is currently being setup and hosted by a UK based crypto services provider, at which point we can start the development customizations to facilitate payouts in BTSX. In all likelihood, I expect it’ll take at least a month for us to be production ready, but I’ll keep the thread updated for those interested in helping us test it etc.

Currently http://www.minebitshares.com (http://www.minebitshares.com) points to a landing page and delegate campaign site.

As I’m not (yet) a know member of the BitShares community, I’d also like to invite a well known, trusted member of the community to join the campaign - you don’t have to be technical, but it would useful if you could commit to regular auditing of the pool operation and payouts once we get going. Reach out in the thread or PM if you think this will suit you.

And with this announcement we have entered into a competition with the Blackcoin community which they cannot win. I tried to get them on board because it would have been mutually beneficial but they prefer competition.

Let me know in what ways I can help this operation. I of course support.

Progress is OK, we're now at the stage of working on setting up auto payouts in BTSX.

All going well, we'd like to open it up to the community for beta testing, probably week after next.

We'll start with scrypt and x11 algos, and potentially expand to sha256 later.

As to fee's, we'll be looking to cover costs and effort in management of coin selection to maximise pool profitability. Most multi-pools operate at between 2% and 4% so we'll probably start of at 3% and see how we're doing.

If we can get our delegates in the top 101 and producing blocks then that'll help with costs and maximise BTSX payouts for the miners, or even give us the ability to offer bonus payouts etc...

I'm really hoping that the pool will help to bring a new audience and associated demand to BitShares and so increase the overall value of our BTSX investments.

Time will tell though, and in some ways, hopefully the pools contribution to BTSX value will be insignificant compared to the upcoming marketing initiatives that I have a sense are being worked on and the new DACS that are soon to be released.

While your waiting for the pool to be beta ready, best thing you can is to up-vote the minebitshares.com delegates and ask other to do the same..  :)

UPDATE:

As the market goes wild for BitSharesX I’m feeling the pressure to enable miners to take advantage of cheap ’BTSX’ before the whole world is talking about it  :)

I’m now prioritising on making the ‘core’ multi-pool functionality available as soon as possible i.e. Simply pointing your rigs at the X11 and Scrypt stratums and getting regular payouts in BTSX.

I’ll then focus on visual and usability improvements on the pool website design, reporting and statistics that will deliver a more polished look to help with attracting a new BitShares audience.

Progress over the past few weeks:

Most of the recent effort has been in modifying the standard pool code to support and integrate the bitsharesx client to support auto-payouts of BTSX and there is still significant effort required to complete this and have it fully tested.

But as soon I’m comfortable that BTSX payments and reporting are robust, I’ll open the pool up for beta testing, probably a couple of weeks still.

Thanks to those that have voted for the minebitshares-com delegates - we’ve made it to the top 101 (thanks to BM really) and have been reliably producing blocks but we’re close top the bottom in terms of votes and could get knocked out at any time - if you have’t done so, please vote for the delegates to show your support.

  • Load tested with 500MH of scrypt and 4000MH of X11 hashing mining power
  • Significant DDOS Filtering & Protection (It’s a given the pool will be targeted for DDOS)
  • Implemented and tested auto exchanging of mined coins
  • Implemented being able to simply provided a BTSX address instead of needing to create/register an account to mine
  • Basic mining statistics are functional

If you have any ideas on how you think virtual mining can be improved, made more flexible, or more useful to miners please share your ideas in this thread.

MineBitShares.com - A virtual mining multi-pool for BitSharesX
Making the unminable, mineable! - Coming Soon

I'm initiating a delegate campaign to support MineBitShares.com.

MineBitShares.com is a mining pool which will direct the miners hashing power to mine the most profitable traditional POW based crypto currencies that is automatically exchanged for BTSX and paid daily to miners.

It’s likely the pool will help attract and retain new members of the crypto community to BitShares, and by automatically selling other crypto currencies to buy BitSharesX, it’ should also have a positive effect on the price.

Am I the only one who doesn't get the appeal of this? You are essentially acting like a middleman in the exchange between the POW tokens and BTSX. Is this just for people who don't want to bother with the "trouble" of trading their POW tokens (mined from an already well established mining pool) for BTSX on an regular exchange? Besides, if a POW miner actually believes in BTSX enough (or even just DPOS) to want to earn BTSX instead of the POW tokens, I would think their smartest move would be to sell their ASICs while they still can.

It drives the price of another crypto down whilst pushing the price of btsx up, I support it.

It drives the price of another crypto down whilst pushing the price of btsx up, I support it.

So does simply selling the other crypto tokens for BTSX. The people mining on MineBitShares support BitShares enough to want to hold on to BTSX. If they already support it they can trade on an exchange directly and cut out the middleman.

Edit: I don't know. Maybe there is some weird psychological marketing voodoo going on that I cannot comprehend. Perhaps it would be attractive to people still on the fence about POW vs DPOS. I still think that if you think mining still has some value for the time being, it makes more sense to mine on a well established mining pool and then trade your BTC for BTSX on an exchange.

It's simply just a shortcut from mining hardware directly to btsx, rather than btsx -> whatever is the most profitable coin -> marketplace -> btc -> btsx.

Toast,

In the short term you would be right but I don't think most people here are considering the long term strategic implications of what Minebitshares can become. It's a marketing method because it does encourage people to buy BTSX, but it also markets the BitAssets. It's also capable of becoming something more if you think about things strategically.

Once miners get into the Bitshares ecosystem through the mining pool they can earn interest, trade, do all sorts of exclusive stuff. So why are we going to encourage people to go to a central exchange to trade coins they mined when we can turn the mining pool into an exchange, or even into a Gateway someday?

So from a strategic perspective Minebitshares is the perfect on-ramp into the ecosystem. Depending on how successful it is and how many Litecoin miners mine on it there are many possibilities.

do you only collect BTSX from your own delegates?

maybe you can provide a solution for BTSX holders to sell there BTSX to the miners. anyone wins. BTSX gets a new distribution channel and interested miners can mine BTSX and you can scale it up much bigger as from just 2 delegates.

UPDATE 2:
Apologies for the lack of updates, even with dedicating all my spare time to pool development (and trying :-\ to keep the delegates updated) progress has been slow, although...

The good news is - The pool will be open in beta form in three weeks (18/19th October), which is after I come back from a family vacation.

Recent Progress:
There is still an awful lot of work to be done before I would consider it being feature complete, such as...
Estimating and reporting current round payouts for each worker in BTSX
Historical reporting of BTSX payouts.
Summary charts and stats for the mining algos - X11, Scrypt etc , rather than individual POW coins

But we'll get it up running first with the core functionality and allow folks to earn BTSX with their mining rigs while I continuously develop and improve to expand out the capability.

See you all in 3 weeks time...

Just thinking out loud. Would it make sense for minebitshares to have it's on bitasset at some point?

The more i think about it, i can't see any reason for it to have either type. But I can see it being useful in buying the new GENESIS asset instead of just BTSX. This would be away for the miners to fund the development of bitshares. Like oil companies investing in renewables.

Post by: nethyb on October 20, 2014, 03:52:04 pm
First pool auto payout has just completed... Just over 2,100 BTSX to 9 workers.  :)

Pool has been averaging around 500MHs for most of the day and we hit over 200 blocks.

Come join us while the BTSx is still cheap!

You can see the pool payout detail at http://pool.minebitshares.com/payouts  (http://pool.minebitshares.com/payouts)

I'm running 2 R9 270Xs on X11 and getting about 2.15Mh/s from each.  Please let me know if you're running something faster, I just searched bitcointalk...

7950 @1100/1500 -I 18 -g 2 -w 128 gets about 3.45Mh/s.  I am using 14.9.1 drivers on vista however the older 14.7 are supposed to get much higher rates, almost 1 more mh/s.

Using the x11 algo.  Not sure if Scrypt is more rewarding for GPU's?

Post by: nethyb on October 21, 2014, 02:59:36 pm
Pool payouts of just over 3,100 $BTSX completed for Round 1021143437, check your BitSharesX client.   :)

Scrypt and X11 algos, basically earned the same today, X11 won out yesterday and we hit over 500 blocks.

Now that pool is operational, I need to focus on the quality of the pool website reporting.
I know I'd like to have clear info on profitability, payouts, overall pool hash rates i.e X11, Scrypt not individual coins pool and no of workers etc

For pool users - can you provide some feedback and tell me what I should address first, as my development time is limited and needs to be focussed.

It looks like I might have time to get the pool into a production ready site that we'd be happy to share with the wider crypto community ahead of the BTSX/AGS/PTS merger and associated marketing push.

Is the pool switching x11 coins too quickly?  While I am not throwing much hash as it right now I can barely get any shares submitted.  SGMiner shows 50 accepted and 1 rejected in the last 12 hours.

The other miners on the site also show mostly 0 shares submitted at any given time.

Great feedback, the pool currently potentially switches based on profit every 11mins, the setting that makes a difference in regard to no of shares though is pool difficulty. I'll have a look later at adding a second X11 port for smaller miners that may make  a difference.

You probably already know this, but the "BTSX raw payouts" page is listing a bunch of invalid transactions.  Not sure if it's an intermittent issue or a fixed issue.

Thanks Troglodactyl,

I looked into it an it appears that the payout transfers associated with Round 1021143437 expired before they got confirmed on the blockchain and we're eventually paid out in Round 1022003245. Because of this some miners got paid more than they should have and others less.

Those who got paid more - consider it a beta phase bonus...  :D (Hopefully I won't have too many!)

And for those who got paid less - apoligies - I've sent special payouts of 1.5x what you should have got in the first place  :D

I've paused the next payout till when I've checked everything is OK with the bitshares client config, while working on changes to make sure it can't happen again.

Here are the 1.5x bonus payout details...

Miner count is increasing which is great.  :)

We paid out over 2,100 BTSX to 18 miners for Round 1023125054 and some miners may have got a 50% beta bonus payment last night.

I've tweaked the pool settings based on feedback to set the difficulty per miner such that your miners should be submitting a share every 5 seconds on average. Here is screenshot of one my X11 miner after the setting.

There is an issue on how X11 shares are displayed in the worker stats, what you see in the stats is the actual value of the workers share, not the number of shares submitted. X11 values are always <=1.0. (Scrypt is always>1 and is always>128 on our pool). We use the value to calculate earnings and payouts. That's why it looks like X11 shares are low compared to script - they can't be compared.

I'll work on a way for it to be displayed in a more useful way i.e as a comparative guide of your miners contributions against other X11 miners though - as it's confusing and looks odd.

Hi, all payment transfers are listed at http://pool.minebitshares.com/payouts (http://pool.minebitshares.com/payouts), can you see your BTSX address there?

If it's not there, the pool never sent you a payment, it may be that your payment amount was less than the minimum to transfer which is 2 BTSX, if this is the case it's carried over till you've earned more than 2 BTSX.

Here are those that got carried over on the last payment round - are you one of these?

Code: [Select]

If your not one of these, PM me your BTSX address and I'll see if I seen you connect to the pool.

Thanks for using the pool...

I'd like to know, do you think the Asian/Chinese community would like a dedicated pool for the Asia region to improve performance and potentially be customised for the local language - would there be interest for this?
If there is enough demand I can make it happen.

Thank you so much for your hard work.

Any tips from you 40+ MH hashers?  :)  Are you simply running 10-20 cards, amazon sessions, or is there an optimized miner out there?

Thanks BM, inspiring words,  seems silly you thanking me, when you and the BitShares team work have already made a tangible difference for my family (and no doubt many others), and we're really only getting started, :D So thank YOU.

There are some basic reporting for miners (estimated / historic earnings / clear payout info) and pool transparency (profitability and block rewards) that I believe need to be there as a minimum before telling the world. I'll work on a plan to make it so and let you know.

I've just upgraded my X11 rig to sgminer v5 from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=632503.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=632503.0) as mentioned by Brekyrself earlier. Specifically the badman74 mod version for X algos windows binary .. https://www.nicehash.com/software/sgminer-5.0-badman74-mod-win32.zip (https://www.nicehash.com/software/sgminer-5.0-badman74-mod-win32.zip).

This has resulted in a 25% improvement in my rig with 6 x Radeon R290s for X11 - from 3.4Mh/s to now 4.3Mh/s  :) Rig total now 25MH/s...

But on the site payout page, I found there should be 10 payouts, am I missing something?

Thanks.

As Troglodactyl mentioned, Payout transfers for Round 1021143437 kept expiring in the pools bitshares client and then retrying creating a few ghost payouts that you see in the log... They eventually went through a couple of hours later in Round 1022003245, but it meant some miners were overpaid and some were under paid.

For those that were underpaid I paid a 50% bonus on what they should have been paid and for those that we're overpaid - your good luck, you got to keep it.

Your miner was one that was overpaid (maybe the most) - your miner had not actually contributed to any shares for round 1021143437 - But we're paid out a few hours later 725 BTSX because you must have joined the pool (with some good hash) pretty soon after the first attempt to payout Round 1021143437.

Since then things have been fine - and there have been 2 payouts since then, so your all good - your not missing anything, although expect another payout soon for 25th Oct.

PM me if it's not clear and I'd be happy to take you though it,

Thanks for using the pool...

Any incentives to miners using this pool? If none, why not give extra coins like % from Delegate profit, just for marketing gimmick.
Most miners do not want to change pool if there is no extra benefits for them.

Just my 2 cents

I disapprove of delegate pay kickbacks.  Low fees and convenience are enough to attract many miners, and competent pool management is an opportunity to earn respect and votes.  I expect more transparency on pool fees and exchange practices once it's more established, but in beta I have no problem at all with how it is.

Do you have any settings in sgminer.conf?

Have you set the following in your command prompt / environment variables... I think I remember seeing this in relation to low memory issues in the past...

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

i.e. in startbtsxminining.bat have...

What drivers are you using?  Have you installed the OpenCL SDK?

http://developer.amd.com/tools-and-sdks/opencl-zone/amd-accelerated-parallel-processing-app-sdk/

yes I do. Like I said, it mines litecoins and protoshares just fine....

im getting this...

Do you have any settings in sgminer.conf?

Have you set the following in your command prompt / environment variables... I think I remember seeing this in relation to low memory issues in the past...

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

i.e. in startbtsxminining.bat have...

Code: [Select]
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

remember to change pathtosgminer to suit your environment...

Thank you for the suggestion. I did try this and get the exact same error (the path to sgminer is correct, still getting error -4)

Thank you for all the suggestions.

Are there instructions for other miners like cgminer or bfg miner? I really really really want to mine, but without it working I will have to continue to mine litecoins :(

Have a go at using the latest version of sgminer mentioned earlier in this thread...

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=6236.msg138628#msg138628  (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=6236.msg138628#msg138628)

And if you still have no luck, you can try mining X11 on the pool, instead of Scyrpt.

Use this command line to test if you using the suggested version of sgminar with X11 on the pool

Code: [Select]
sgminer.exe --kernel darkcoin-mod -o stratum+tcp://btsx.minebitshares.com:5555 -u YOUR_BTSX_ACCOUNT_KEY -p ANYTHING_YOU_LIKE --no-submit-stale

the x11 command workd!

.... then i fucked it up! I tried adding

Quote
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

and then the -4 error came back.

So then I deleted them, saved the .bat and it still will not work

How do I reset environment variables?

Thank you so much for this help, nethyb

oK messed around some more, ended up downloading the badman modified version and tried again on x11. It is now working...Thanx!!!

I wonder why it stopped working after I set the command variables. I dont get why that would have happened.

ah well. Its working :)

EDIT: scrypt mining is faster on AMD GPUs isnt it? Does anyone have any suggestions as to why I can only mine with x11 and not scrypt?

process of mine bts is use computer/mining machine mine other altcoin ,can exchange it to bts . so compare with mining other altcoin directly , there is no advantage to mine bts .
if you can run a delegate , use pay from deletae to allowance mine of BTS to allowance miner of BTS.
let income of mining BTS higher than mining other altcoin

Payouts occur every 24hrs and are automatically added at http://pool.minebitshares.com/payouts (http://pool.minebitshares.com/payouts)...

Check to see if your BTSX key is on that list, if your there it'll have the transaction id for the payout that you can double check @ svk32' excellent site http://bitsharesblocks.com/blocks  (http://bitsharesblocks.com/blocks).

Also make sure your client is synced up.

If you've checked all that it may be that you haven't contributed enough hashes to reach the payout threshold of 2 BTSX.
Drop me a PM with your BTSX key and I'll check for you.

Pool website and code has been updated and tested to support the change to BTS.

And I've added a dedicated fixed diff (2048) scrypt port for KnC TITAN scrypt miners : stratum+tcp://btsx.minebitshares.com:4446

I've been running my own Titan successfully on the pool for a few days and with the new firmware update (1.10) it's humming along nicely at around 320Mh/s. Today's scrypt payout was 3,200 BTS...  :D

only 4444 shows dead. If someone else has a Gridseed Orb to try it out with would be cool. In the meantime Im going to google this around and see if I can find any hints. I dont really want to change their configuration file as
it works with every other pool and I dont want to frig up the mining OS.

PM me your BTS address/key and I'll see if I can see you trying to connect to the port.

I've ran PIMP in the past, I'll have a look myself this weekend and try PIMP with the 4444 port with pool with GPU miners.

In the meantime, as long as you have a reasonable amount of hash - 5Mh/s+ using the 4445/4446 ports will be fine, you still get the same credit, just uses less network bandwidth.

Thanks for sharing your troubleshooting though, it'll help anyone else in your situation...

Apologies, payouts have been delayed because of a required BTS client update to fix scan issues, and it appears the new "v0.4.25-RC1" client has introduced some changes to querying balances that mean I need to tweak the pool code.

We have about 5000 BTS to pay from last 2 days, expect it in next 12hrs when I get a chance to update and test the pool code...

Hi NineLives, love your enthusiasm...

Head on over to pool.minebitshares.com (http://pool.minebitshares.com) to get started mining BTS in a flash...

You can virtually mine BTS using X11 or Scrypt algos with your mining hardware - the site is early beta but fully functioning, with payouts currently every 48 hrs.

You can see past payouts on the site as well the coins we are/have been mining and trading for BTS etc.

We've paid 151,702 BTS/X in 857 payouts to 45 separate BTS miners since Oct 20.

The pool is in early beta and daily monitoring, and operation of the pool has severely limited the time I've had for getting on with the development plans but I'm expecting to be able to put some serious effort in over the coming holiday period.

Have fun and let me know if you have any issues.

You have to add an 'X' to your BTS address.  For example, if your address is BTS8L132ASDF1341234.  You must insert an 'X' as the fourth character ( BTSX8L132ASDF1341234)

What if I matched your payout with a 5% bonus?    That would make your pool more profitable than all of the other pools.  This would increase hash power and therefore total buy pressure on bts.

What would it take to get your daily payout to $2000?

It appears, yet again we've thinking along the same lines.

How about i raise your 5% by having a 0% pool fee and payouts of 10,000USD per day along with 4,000 new BitShares/BitAssets users

I've actually been developing a proposal to present to the community for 'MineBitShares Reloaded' here is the bullet point summary:

MineBitShares re-invents itself as a core marketing asset for BitShares and BitAssets owned by the community
Charge zero fees for the pool thereby making it most profitable/popular multi-pool
The pool pays out only in BitAssets - BitUSD, BitCNY, BitGold, BitSilver (BitBTC if you really want)
East/West geo-located redundant pools with Chinese language support
I donate the pool, pool code,  website, delegates, send nodes etc to the community
We attract the following community team members to develop and maintain the pool by sharing the proceeds from a 100% paid delegate:
       Pool Developers – node.js, javascript, website/front end
Pool Operators  -  Linux, VPS, DDoS admin, POW coin daemon/research, exchange payouts
Pool costs (VPS’s, DDoS, Website) are covered by a 100% delegate position or affiliate/referral fees

The critical part in all this is getting the team together, as I’ve spent a considerable amount of my limited personal time over the past 6 months in getting the pool to where it’s at today and managing it on a daily basis, and realize, there is no way I could achieve this on my own in a timely manner.

Although I won't get pool fees, I get to see my project's vision realised, help BitShares and my investments succeed and would be one of the pools paid developers/operators.

So your bonus and support will ensure this initiative has every chance of success, but ultimately the community would also need to support it.

Also, I bumped in to the (crypto friendly) owner of BitGild http://www.bitgild.com at a local bitcoin meet last year and realized it would be a win-win-win for the pool to enable BitShares BitGold payouts along with an affiliate relationship with a company like BitGild. I've pitched this idea to him and waiting for a reply back.  Eventually  your bonus and the pool fee delegate could be replaced by affialte fees, maybe not only with BitGold but with exchanges we refer BitCNY, BitUSD payout miners to...

What your thought's on the effectiveness on paying out in BitAssets only?

Note : I've done some research on estimating the 4000 users and 40+BTC. I believe that by removing the pool fee and now your bonus, ensuring minebitshares is the most profitable multi-pool for miners there is no reason why the pool could not attract at least 2,000 users from multipool.us and/or coinking.io and generate 40BTC daily in BitAsset payouts.  It would be very reasonable to assume these 2000 users would at least tell one of their mining buddies about the pool/BitShares/BitAssets etc.

I think it should pay out in only BitUSD because miners want set it and forget-it.

I will match 5% of any mining proceeds and will support you for a 100% delegate

Lets keep it very SIMPLE.  Just modify the payout to BitUSD and then I will plus it up.

No, if i understand your question correctly. What is the outcome your thinking of?

Miners are actually mining POW coins on the pool such as darkcoin, litecoin etc. When they find a block the pool trades it for BTC and then buys BTS/BitUSD which is then paid to miners in proportion of their hashing contibution.

You need GPU, ASIC hardware to mine. Or rent pooled mining hash power from providers like nicehash.com.

First you need an ASIC miner or a good gpu (graphics card).
Download a mining software like CGminer, configure it with the pools address and your hardware.
Mine and get your reward sent to yout bts account address.

I left out many details so you should lookup a mining guide

I'm looking into buying Hashing power for the mining pool. Can I get paid directly in BitUSD now?
Do you have tutorials for complete newbie like me to throw money at this?

The 5% bonus will be made available once payouts in BitUSD are active.

The code changes to faciliate payouts in BitUSD  is progressing very well, and I'd expect to be able to cutover this coming weekend.

Guys, I would't recommend going out an buying any new hardware to mine bitUSD as it'll take you a long time to recover your costs, when electricity is taken into account.

Off course, if you have already having mining hardware (and/or a free source of electricity) then our pool will be the most profitable multi-pool and will pay out in bitUSD, taking away any crypto volatility risk and providing a yield.

If you want to just try the pool out and see how it works, rent some hashing power at nicehash.com and create an order like the following:

Awesome work! Good to be honest about mining hardware. Now IF IF IIIIIF someone REEEALLY wants to get into it.. don't buy new.. go to ebay and buy used. Tons of people are selling off their hardware now because of the profitability. Another option is mining contracts from a cloud mining offering.. but those are folding left and right now, so don't buy long term into anything. Or you can just rent from others like nethyb said from nicehash.

Looking forward to mining for bitUSD!!  +5%

minebitshares.com as it is, is not an attractive pool to the miners.  It is limited to only two algos - scrypt and X11, and some limited coins.  It does not have a baseline profitability comparison eg to LTC, and estimated earnings per day.  If you want to attract miners, you need to match what the multipools offer.

You make very good points cube, baseline profitability is very important so miners KNOW it's the most profitable pool. I'm working on it and hope to be able to at least list the profitability in a raw format along with the BitUSD relaunch.  i.e. 0.00022 BTC/MH/Day equivalent so it can be listed on multi-pool comparison site such as  http://poolpicker.eu etc.

I've asked for help in developing and managing the pool in this thread.. MineBitShares Reloaded – We’re Hiring https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=13917.0;topicseen (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=13917.0;topicseen)

Drop me a line if you could help.

The bonus should only be given if a certain criteria is met. For example if the payout per day passes a certain threshold.

Profitability comparison is nice I agree. I been mining for a week or so now and I been happy with the payouts. I wasn't doing any better with clevermining if that is any consolation. Just saved me from converting my BTC to BTS.. and at least this way I am not subject to the BTC price craziness lately.

I'm just testing the profitability calcs now - todays payout worked out to be 4.285 BTS/MH/Day (0.04640245  BitUSD/MH/Day) (0.00020423  BTC/MH/Day) for Scrypt

What this means if your lucky (or foolish  ;D) enough to have a 300MH/s TITAN ASIC miner you'll earn 1,285 BTS or 13.92 BitUSD  per day - without bytemasters 5% bonus.

In a few days and you'll be able to directly mine BitUSD - even less volatility.

I have been comparing my old pool simplemulti.com with http://pool.minebitshares.com (http://pool.minebitshares.com) using 30MH

Minebitshares is a little more profitable as it stands.

0.0059289 BTC (simplemulti)

0.0060 BTC (minebitshares)

about 1.33963 BitUSD a day for 30MH

Mining BitGOLD or BitSILVER would be great for marketing 8)

30MH is about 0.03265865064 grams of BitGOLD a day

or 2.43569090909 grams of BitSILVER a day

Keep it Simple... Lets not complicate the pool.  Once you have BitUSD you can buy anything you want with it including BTS.

Separate out concerns of mining vs investing.  Mining is working to earn a paycheck.   You use your paycheck to invest.

Focus everything on BitUSD.   Imagine how tight the peg will be if our mining pool is buying BitUSD constantly.

Why BitUSD? What if they don't like the USD or the USA in general? I don't see why BitUSD is better than BitGLD.

Also if they don't want to hold BitUSD and prefer to hold anything else why not let them have as many options as possible? I don't understand your logic here.

My opinion is that automated investing is a feature. I don't see any costs for us as BTS holders if people automatically invest in any of the BitAssets.

Is mining for minebitshares going to be worth doing with just a PC, if I had no specialized mining hardware?

If so, is there a tutorial for how to get started?  Assume I have never mined any crypto currency before, by the time I got into crypto you needed an ASIC to effectively mine, and that option mathed out as inferior to just buying BTC/other cryptos.

Mining is no longer profitable unless you have existing mining hardware and free electricity.

There are some cpu-only mineable coins out there. With these, you do not need specialised mining hardware.
