Is there going to be an easier way importing the wallets because I am getting frustrated?

Yes the latest GUI available here https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/releases

Go to your account / advanced tab / Import Wallet

Then it will give you a file dialog to select your wallet.

Click Import.  And you are done.

When I clicked the advanced tab I see two options. Import Private Key and Import Wallet. Importing Private Key is for the pts wallet correct? I forgot how to get the private key. Can someone post a link for that? And how do I get the wallet path?

You can simple import whole PTS wallet.dat using "Import Wallet" tab, see here (last screenshot and explanation) http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Bitshares-x-how-to

I don't if I'm doing this wrong or not. I do not have the mind for this. Still no results. What I'm doing is copying and pasting the wallet dat in the import tab in the bts x wallet. And my wallet has no connection could that be it?

You should put the whole path at Import Wallet->Path, for example "C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\BitShares-PTS\wallet.dat", select type as Bitcoin and specify the password if your wallet is password protected.
If at path for wallet.dat you have non English characters (Chinese, Russian, etc), copy your wallet.dat into different location (C:\PTS-Wallet) and specify new location instead.

Just to be safe, before doing anything, please do the backup of your BitShares-PTS wallet.dat

I cannot import my PTS walllet.dat,

The path is very simple, short, no spaces, no special caracters..

there is just no "output" from the gui interface to give me any indicatioin what might be wrong.

I write the password, and path to my PTS wallet which was holding PTS pre-1st march, and still is.

edit:
nvm password typo
