Title: [INACTIVE] 32 PTS - Migrate Blogs to Website 4.0 - 4 PTS per article
Post by: bytemaster on March 31, 2014, 04:45:47 am
I have started a new repository for our blogs and to organize existing content that is currently strewn around the interwebs. You can see the list of blog posts that need the content put behind them and formatted according to the new layout.

http://107.170.30.182/blog/

Please send pull request here: https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares.org

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3902.msg49057;topicseen#msg49057

If you see any extra articles that I did not include thus far, please let me know and I will add some more.

I will pay 4 PTS per article submitted.  Please submit each article as an individual pull request.

Do I need to build a new page linked to the "read more" button on the blog and put the content there  ,or just add it on blog/ index.php ?

New page  linked to read more.

You are right.. 40 pts for doing them all.

Please make sure you migrate all links and formatting.

I updated some of your formatting on the headers of your first 3 posts.  Please follow that layout... oh, and add images as appropriate.

Free Space – The Ever-Receding Frontier

The jurisdiction of governments has always been defined by the land
mass they control by force. Out beyond the “three-mile” limit of their
shores is traditionally viewed as international waters. No government
has sovereignty out there, though many have tried to exert such control.
Their success has been limited to their ability to project power, whether
they have an internationally recognized right to do so or not.

We view the Internet as lying in international waters as well.

Governments and nefarious enterprises try to exert power by exploiting items of value that
must pass through their control or by seducing or coercing service providers that must
themselves remain exposed in the physical world. But what of the etherial constructs of cryptospace?
Ghost ships that don’t show up on any earthy radar and have no ports of call where they
can be interdicted? Ships with crypto-graphical cloaking devices that can carry their cargo
across the digital high seas with impunity, immune while pirates and tyrants huff and puff in
frustration. Many will want to control this new frontier. But unlike the past frontiers of
freedom, this time they will fail.

When Daniel Boone and Davy Crocket strode into the American Old West they were entering the
Free Space frontier of their day. But soon “civilization” began to encroach and their offspring
fled further West. The Eagles once lamented, “there is no more new frontier, we have got to
make it here”. We disagree. In Free Space, freedom can still flourish – by design.

Bitcoin has opened a portal to Free Space – a land of opportunity.

Bitcoin is just a digital currency worth billions. But the technology behind it is beyond the control of
any government on the planet. There is no central point where tyranny can seduce or coerce the people
who have learned to use it. Instead they interact peer to peer, with no corruptible middlemen. Bitcoin
just works. And it has paved our way to digital freedom. A next generation Internet.

In Free Space, no one can read your mail.
In Free Space, no one can track your purchases.
In Free Space, no one can steal your identity.
In Free Space, no one can inflate away your savings.
In Free Space, no one can confiscate your wealth.

In Free Space, your wealth is all in your head.

Anyone able to infringe on even one of these freedoms has too much power.
The tools needed to defend Free Space are emerging, but the arms race will probably never end.

Good one to add.

Howdy! I have several questions:

1) What's the status on these?

2) To do a pull request, would I fork the repository at:

https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares.org

--and then evey time I push a modified article up to my forked repository, would I ussue a new pull request? (I don't know whether a pull request is a one-time thing, or if it can be done infinitely, to merge proposed changes from one repository to another. Nor do I know how to get a forked repository to sync newer, changed content in from the original repository, if that's even possible . . .)

3) It seems to me that repository is also for the whole bitshares.org web site (not just those blog articles--unless those are both the same thing), is that not so?

4) Is that repository current with what is now shown at bitshares.org? It seems not so.

I could potentially do at least several article edits (including typo corrections) for that repository every day . . .

Seems like this bounty is inactive since we have a new website that is WP-based / not easily editable by outsiders. Brian and co are making tons of changes to the site at the moment, I imagine once they converge on the "final" version there will be a typo bounty or something.

Updated the title.

If there was some work done while the site was on the old version then I suppose it should be paid for... contact Stan with details

Ok, thx for the update.

I am seeing many typos and places that could use editing, so I imagine there may be plenty to do if it is resubmitted for typo/etc. bounties :) I'll keep an eye on it.

Er . . . would I watch this thread or some other? :-\

BM, I'm the one who summit several commits of this task.

I know that your plan has changed since I've done the work,so I want to ask if the work I've done still pays.

Because of the snapshot's coming soon,if this job still pays before the snapshot day then it would be a added bonus .

Yes... it still applies if you did the work.  Please email Stan  info@bitshares.org for your payment.
