General Discussion / Re: Need help recovering my bitshares from brain key
« on: September 02, 2016, 08:22:30 pm »
you can provide your json file in the settings->restore/recover menu .. make sure to pick the correct item from the drop down:

@jcalfee1 Can you tell me if the brain keys are compatible with bts2?

Most likely but check the code to be sure.  Normalized just means taking out extra spaces.  It is more about what you do with the keys after you hash the brain key.

I notified the admin of the server to update the certificate .. sorry for the trouble

To claim AGS, he does not need this old wallet server.  This is only for someone who had a web wallet and did not make a backup or convert to the new web wallet.   I see svk has done a lot of work here!  Looks awesome.. Under the right header drop-down I see Settings .. Then there are some options to import your keys..

I may have to rebuild this box.. I can't run the cert renew program and apt-get is core dumping..  :-\

Good to see you here @svk...  Hope you can get your worker proposal renewed (make it last forever this time)!  You deserve it...

Chrome Version 48.0.2564.82 Ubuntu 14.04 (64-bit)

Firefox looks fine...

In the Chrome computed rules, I can uncheck app.css img { height: auto; } the images go back almost to normal (some a little short)..  In Firefox, unchecking img height auto goes from just right to making the a few images a little short (like in chrome).  Maybe the divs that hold the images have something off about their css.

What is going on with the wallet's home screen?

This will be so awsome, i feel like a big rock is finally of my back. It's so great!

Agreed. So many folks have been complaining that the captain of the ship keeps getting sidetracked and then never finishes a feature to shareholders expectations. So, I think the friday mumbles could now be moderated by the Beyond Bitcoin team but the guests can be those who want to talk about their projects. No more perception of a top-down structure (i have even seen Bitshares referred to as central banking 2.0).

I had a nice conversation with BM, Stan, Onceupon and Thom yesterday on mumble after the official mumble. We have a very solid plan to move Bitshares forward. Blinded transactions, recurring and scheduled payments, bond market, liquidity bots and market makers, margin trading, free transactions, Smartcoins POS integrations, a 2nd mobile wallet app for iOS and android (all native and material design), skin-able specific use-case wallets, Marketing... There are lots of things being started, worked on and finished up as we speak.

BitShares Munich will be expanding over the coming days. BM has been so far, and confirms that he will continue to consult with us in assisting our expansion, getting more Devs up to speed on graphene, direction with the different repos and docs, etc. We have roughly 40 Devs (c++, js, python and ui/x etc) that can work with us on various projects (as you guys know I have been in software and outsourcing for over 24 years now). Roughly 7 of those 40 are employed with us full-time and as more investment comes in we can slowly expand further. I would like all of the existing projects above finished/polished first and make them awesome.

+5% +5%  Thanks Ken...  For what it is worth, I'm very happy with the past and the present.  These are startups, so I keep learning to enjoy the ride..

I recognize that blockchains like BitShares are the right thing to do so I continue to upgrade my personal finances to use this new technology and invest in new businesses that show they can be sustained long term.  There is very little I can do to gage adoption or even to put a financial price tag on this.  Isn't user adoption something like cash, will you ever have enough?  If one can have passion and do well user adoption is free... The incentive is more excitement in the way of future opportunity.

These are real business and we have an awesome exchange on BitShares.  It is fast, high-volume, secure, decentralized and efficient.  I hear of very clever workarounds to the speed issues in blockchains and, although I would implement them if I were in their shoes (to keep things going), I would always know very well that as a developer they are cracks in a foundation.  One little hack in the core can take down a platform in unforeseen ways.  DL understand this well so this gives me confidence in his work.  I know this part of the platform should not change frequently and does not require his constant attention.  The less frequent the better.  This is great news for us, we have property now that will keep giving us value at little or no cost at all.  This is why we put forth all the time and effort up front to create things that will last.  You don't want to change them latter.  Also, for this reason it is completely normal to move to other modules, projects, chains, etc...  None of this raises a red flag for me.  Software is complex, you need to move to another area so you have freedom and can't break any code.   Fighting this is like fighting the rip currents, the key is to go with the flow and gently move in the direction you need to go...

This is what I was after, I wanted to see this become a reality.  The market experiments are a lot of fun to use and watch, these are important tools for very serious investors.  This is exactly what we need, if we are going to be home for major investors and even the average person's retirement portfolio.  This is a huge step up for the average joe.  Also, for this to be viable we needed web and mobile clients.  We pulled it off.  The major pieces are here...  Best of all the community owns it in full so this sets the stage for a honest future where it is greed and monopoly resistant.

This is another asset for the BitShares exchange.  Keep them coming ;)...

The receipt still does not show when sending funds to a private account. It's only visible in the console.

I cannot retrieve the receipt afterwards in any case - in case I missed it in the console, my sent funds are GONE!

And when I try to import that receipt that I got from the console, I still get
Error: Missing required field: Label is required unless a private key is provided(…)

This is the same situation as over a month ago!

I hope this doesn't get released on the mainnet like this, This is seriously broken, just like a month ago.

After I downloaded the STEALTH light wallet and entered my e-mail for server backup, and then entered the url I recieved to my e-mail

I am taken to http://stealth.cnx.rocks/#/wallet/backup/server/

Server Backup

Write down your Wallet Key (it is case-sensitive)

xxxx

PASSWORD

What do I enter for "PASSWORD"?
When I enter the password I chose upon downloading the STEALTH wallet beta
It returns the message "wallet not found"

This is the only case:  You have the correct Wallet Key and password then you can recover the wallet from the server.   If either are incorrect or you don't have a wallet on the server you will see "wallet not found".   You are correct, you use your original password.

Your making it clear that this was confusing for you.  We all want this to be easy.   Keep in mind, the server does not know much about you by design.  So, it is not possible for us to know if their is no wallet or the password does not match.  Since you used the link we know the Wallet Key is correct (the link will know if it was changed).  So, it is either the wrong password or you did not have a backup on the server.  We never change the server URL so that is the only backup server.  Your wallet is kept in your browser too.  Does is show you a "Dashboard" or "Create Account" in the toolbar?  The first means it has a wallet the second means it does not.

You only need your password to login to the wallet backup in your browser.

@jcalfee1

Here is what is happening:

I have a light client. I have opened an account in it. I have funded that account with 1000BTS.

I have made a named Private Account. I have not used it yet.

I put in my e-mail to do a server backup and clicked on "Email A Token".

I received an e-mail from noreply@cnx.rocks

I clickied the confirmation therein and was taken to a web wallet, and not to my light wallet. The landing place is the "Wallet Management Console" and it has a 4 digit Wallet Key and asks me to input my password.

When I enter my password (which is from the light client mentioned above) and I click on "check server"  I get the response in a pop out message: "Wallet was not found"

issue: https://github.com/cryptonomex/graphene-ui/issues/806

For now, if you can open a link in the light client you could modify the URL a little to get it to work.

I hear you .. thanks for making this very clear.  Of course this will not go on the mainnet with issues like this.

example.
My public account: test1
My private accounts: ~test1, ~whatever

Trying to send funds from both ~test1 / ~whatever to test1 (public account)
I get: missing to_key_or_label: est1

So, IF you create a private_account with the same label as your public_account, then you are not able to sends funds from yours private_accounts back to your public_account.

Notice, the error message on "missing to_key_or_label" is the the account_name except the first letter. (just guessing: maybe it expect a label and so think the first letter should be a ~ instead?)

This should be fixed.  The GUI was getting the account types confused.

Technical Support / Re: Brainkey verification is not working
« on: March 18, 2016, 12:13:29 pm »
One person reported a problem to me saying that "verification of brainkey" is not working. Basically, he is trying to copy and paste the brainkey into the textbox, but gets the error message, "Brainkey does not match, keep going…"

I was able to replicate it on my account as well. I'm not sure which version of Openledger introduced this problem, but can you guys take a look at this, please?

It does work on the version out there now, I use copy/paste.   Instead of the brain-key use the backup download.  This will cover any keys you import and in the future stealth.
