BitShares PTS / Re: Still want to understand PTS/AGS/BTSx
« on: March 22, 2014, 04:49:12 am »
Thanks! This is starting to make a bit more sense.

So the bitcoin address of mine that I use to send donations to the 1Angel bitcoin address will also exist as an address in the new blockchain and that address will have the same private key as my bitcoin address, right? So you won't be sending the AGS to my old bitcoin address in the Bitcoin blockchain but to a new address in the AGS blockchain that has the same public/private key combo that I currently already have, right? And future AGS/BTS dividends will go to that address also? Or will there be dividends paid in BTC that go to the bitcoin address in the Bitcoin blockchain?

I am also trying to set up Keyhotee. How do I get my username/ID registered?

BitShares PTS / Still want to understand PTS/AGS/BTSx

I have some BTC and just bought some PTS on Cryptsy and transfered them into my BitShares-PTS wallet for Mac. I assume there will be another snapshot at somepoint in the next few months, right?

Do I also want AngelShares? Or should I just buy more PTS with my BTC rather than donate to the 1Angel... Bitcoin address? If I donate to the 1Angel... Bitcoin address how do you guys know where to send me my AGS? You can't send non bitcoin cryptocurrencies to a bitcoin address, can you? Or is that bitcoin address now in your records for future bitcoin dividend payouts from yet to be deployed DACs? Can I sell the AGS one day if I want to?

Can I buy someone's stake in BitSharesX?

Technical Support / Re: Unable to use any Invictus apps. Can someone help?

Try to add some nodes: for example, go to debug window, type   addnode cryptoseed.cloudapp.net:80 add

There is a FAQ for PTS BTS AGS, just take a look
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=1964.0

I already tried adding nodes manually. That was the instruction I was given last time, the instructions I linked to in the first sentence of my post above.

I just followed your link to https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=1964.0 and makes the difference between the 3 share types a little more clear but I am still unable to get any of them or to use Keyhotee.

The link on that forum post to download a Mac app (http://invictus-innovations.com/downloads/) is now defunct.

Can you provide me with a link to a working version of any Invictus software for Mac?

I posted my original question here: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2735.0 and followed the instructions here: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=1936.0 but my ProtoShares-Qt-0.2.0 for Mac OS X app will not connect to any nodes. My firewall is off and I am able use other Qt clients just fine.

What app should I use to get a ProtoShares wallet that works? Is ProtoShares even a thing anymore or is it AngelShares now? Or BitShares? Or BitShares X? What's with this naming scheme? Who is doing the marketing for Invictus? I fix Macs for a living and I can hardly figure out how any of these products relate to each other.

In an attempt to see if I could get any Invictus app to work for me I have visited the Invictus site and GitHub but have been unable to find an installer or .dmg file for any Invictus app that "just works". Are there no Invictus apps that just function out-of-the-box after a simple download and drag and drop into the Applications folder on my Mac? Do all Invictus products require the user to compile the software themselves? If this is the case can a forum moderator or Invictus employee provide with a link to a working version of ANY Invictus app that will function on a Mac?

Perhaps it is just easier to just purchase some ProtoShares with Bitcoin on Cryptsy and forget trying to use any of Invictus' software. Of course that is problematic too because I still need to get my PTS off Cryptsy at some point. As I asked before, is ProtoShares even the right thing? Or should I buy BitShares?

Halp!

Technical Support / Two noob questions
« on: February 03, 2014, 05:50:07 pm »
1. My ProtoShares-Qt-0.2.0 for Mac client software will launch but will not connect to the network. At the bottom of the app it says "No block source available". Do I have the right app? Is there a BitShares-Qt app instead? Without this app connecting to the network how can I donate to the fund to get AngelShares etc? Is there another way? Before you ask, yes, I am connected to the Internet and all other Qt apps connect to their networks just fine.

2. How does Keyhotee work? I downloaded the software but I guess it only runs on Linux? Can it be made to work on Mac OS X's Darwin Unix? Is there a step by step set of instructions on how to do this?

Another noob question: If I dontate BTC to that address at the top of the post how does anyone know where to send my AngelShares or Bitshares? You guys can't send them back to my normal Bitcoin-Qt wallet, can you? Do I need to also be running the Protoshares-Qt wallet? Can I import BTC into the Protoshares-Qt wallet and send them from there? How does this work?
