Thanks for putting this together!

I have an nVidia GTX 460 with compute capability 2.1 and I have the CUDA drivers installed and working properly; I routinely use cudaminer all the time for scrypt mining.

I am getting an error "could not malloc dev_data (2)". What could be causing this error?

@thesuperconductor  I am getting an error "could not malloc dev_data (2)". What could be causing this error?

Do you have enough memory? - Will try to test my GTX 460 tomorrow.

@jabbaah

1.) I will release the source, no worries.
2.) Did you try version 0.3? (its still in testing phase) on my test machines it doesn't crash. It switches between my address and dga payout adresss for supporting.

@thesuperconductor My computer has 8gb and my video card has 768mb. How much memory is needed?

If you get a malloc error, make sure you have more than 800 MB of free video memory. Ill hook up my dusty GTX 460 and test it, ill try to make some adjustments for low-memory GFX cards but it will decrease in performance.

Title: CPM with cudaPTSwin
Post by: Hurlie on January 17, 2014, 11:10:04 am
Hello,

nice work:)

The miner work excellent.

Beside this, I have 2 questions regarding the CPM.

My machine:

Processor: AMD FX8350
RAM: 16 GB
Graphics: 2* GTX 650

1. Question:
I reach a CPM rate of 300 to 350.
Compared with your benchmark, this seems to be not so much.

2. Question:
I called the miner with:
cudaPTSwin.exe "adr" 1-
The "1" means, both GTX 650 should work.

In the response of the program, every found collision is generated bei GPU "0".

<<[WORKER] collision found: 17070511 <-> 59251628 #162 @ 1389956781 by 0
<<[WORKER] collision found: 59251628 <-> 17070511 #162 @ 1389956781 by 0
<<[WORKER] collision found: 15759157 <-> 64019081 #164 @ 1389956781 by 0

The second GPU seems to be ununsed.

Is this correct?
Or where can I see, how much GPUs are working?

Or, when both GPUs are working, a CPM of 300-350 seems to be really slow.

Thanks for your help.

Sincerly yours,

Hurlie

Hi Hurly, can you start up 2 cudaptswin.exe?
One gpu with: 0
And the other gpu with: 1

And report the CPM.

I don't have multi nvidia card rig (only multi ati rig ;)), will setup test machine with 3 nvidia cards.

Cheers!

[I think my last post was unnecessary, and I've deleted it.]

I apologize, crz, for putting you on the defensive. It looks like I probably was greatly mistaken, too.

Please edit our unhappy exchanges out of your posts (and/or delete the posts), and I'll do the same (and also delete this post itself, after a while).

Removed thanks.

I notice that only about 1GB of GPU RAM is used as reported by nvsmi tool. Any chance for a super-high memory version?  8)

Tesla K20c has 5GB RAM. It could be interesting to test 2GB and 4GB version of the miner if possible.

I don't know if after some point you get diminishing returns in regards to memory capacity.

I just got into this mining thing so I'm a bit of a newbie. I did edit the "edit_me.bat" and tried to execute the "cudaPTSwin.exe" but that just closed in 0.5 sec only showing me instructions. So i executed "edit_me.bat" and now it seems to be working fine. It finds collisions and submits shares. Is this good? I seem to get around 1625 c/m on my Nvidia 780GTX. How fast does 1625 c/m get me 1PTS? How do I calculate the coins from c/m value?
Any help appreciated!

Here are my results with PNY VCGGTX7702XPB-OC GeForce GTX 770 2GB.
Rig: i7-2600K @ 3.4Ghz, 16GB RAM, Intel MB H67 (no overclock, no need when you go GPU mining).
The GTX 770 runs at GPU core clock at 1241Mhz, Memory at 1800Mhz, GPU temp at 73C, FAn at 63%, GPU load 96-98%, Video eng at 0%, Power at 61%. VDDC 1.2V (All GPU-Z info).
No OC done, but this PNY does it on its own I think. With this cuda miner the GPU runs quite cold, compared to the script gpu miner and the power consumption here is quite low, with the script cuda miner it does to 90+ %.

Results:
version 0.3 - fluctuates from 950 c/m to 970 c/m, Uses 900MB GPU ram
version 0.4 - fluctuates from 920 c/m to 1020 c/m, Uses 1100 - 1200MB GPU ram

Someone asked how much PTS can do, I am getting from as low as 0.04 a round(block) to as high as 0.07 a round(block) with the above setup and v0.3 of the miner.

I do see a message before or after each submitted share:
[Worker] collision found: 20596710 <-> 57587360 #26536 @ 1390832977 by 0

Can you tell me why there are collisions all the time? I looked for the source to see the conditions for this message by cannot find it.
Is there a way to stabilize the version 0.4 rate in the higher range ?

Thanks for the great PTS cuda miner and all the support!

Yes almost done will need tester.
v3 crashed after a while on my 1GB GT630 ver.2 (Kepler) card with could not memcpy error.
I could launch v4 only once.

I observe wild GPU memory usage fluctuations - base at ~40% and max from 60% to 90%.

I'm very interested to test version that can reliably run on 1GB cards.

Any update on low memory video cards (768mb, GTX 460)? I'm really looking forward to using your miner!

Yes almost done will need tester.

CRZ, I'd like to test your miner. PM me and let me know if that can work.

What's going on with it saying 'mining for 2000 seconds for mining Shiney Coins for user'. Everytime I start this thing. That's over half an hour. Am I mining for you or me?

That's for you. It runs on a cycle of 40 seconds for developer and then 2000 seconds for you.

Hi, tesla k20c guy again. I've been getting intermittent "cudaptswin has stopped working" every couple of hours. Nothing on the console, just crashes.

I migrated to arcudaminer and ypool due to stability problems. I'd very much prefer to use beeeeer but cudaptswin crashes way too often for me to maintain it.

Same here, just crashing randomly. All started happening after that sh/m lowering. Worked like a charm before.

Hi...

I got a problem:

I'm mining with two GTX Titans. Started with arCUDAminer on which I get ~4000c/m. Now I don't really like ypool so I wanted to give this one here a try but I only get 1500 c/m per card... thats pretty dissapointing..

Sorry to report that the shares per minute rate has dropped down heavy from about 30 a min to 5 now
You might wanna take a look at it

Keep up the good work

Be^5r made a change to reduce server load, this isn't due to the miner.

Okay !

Sorry to hear that.
Is it going up again if they were to upgrade their server ?
Or is it gonna stay this way.

It will most likely stay this way.

The change doesn't have an impact on your gains.

The only impacts on my gains lately have been big users coming to the pool which results in less shares distributed among all the workers throughout the pool. So if you see less gains, its due to more people mining on the pool than before.

Are you guys using the experimental one?

my 780 ti's went from ~1400 c/m to 1750 c/m each by not using the experimental one.  And that is with default everything, I'm sure they could do more.

Yes some users have more c/m with the exp 4.0 version and some don't. Big difference is - the 4.0 exp version is using more memory.

Update soon,

Cheers!

New version up for all versions.

Thank you for the noirshares version for cuda.

I have to wonder if it was a mistake or why does "cudaNRSwin-0.1-cuda-2-crz" mine 600 seconds to support further development?
That is 10 MINUTES. 30 seconds would be acceptable but not 10 MINUTES.

Next version will have 1% - 5% donation overall and compute capability 3.5 with high memory support. And pool + port select support.

i think you'll have to ask crz
this version has a hardcoded IP i think and beeeeer's PTS server is completely shut down

Yes - cudaPTSwin is discontinued and I have closed the download links. Reason: beeeeer's PTS server is completely shut down, thank you all for the support!
