Title: 1000 BTSX - help me setup dedicated Ubuntu node.
Post by: bitmeat on July 22, 2014, 04:05:37 pm
I'm sure I can figure it out if I keep digging, but my time is spent wiser elsewhere.

client can't seem to be able to establish connections. I opened up the ports, tried starting without UPnP.

you know fellas...  we have a beyond bitcoin mumble server that can be used to easily collaborate (and create potentially useful content that will increase the trust level you command).  It is completely free to use and is there specifically for the crypto-community.

This is a good idea. Do we have IRC channel? Fuznuts, I'm not a fan of installing unfamiliar executables. Is mumble built from source code?

 +5%

I second this. IRC > mumble. There's a channel on irc.freenode.org, but its very inactive and small.

I made this post about setting up a delegate.  Maybe it will help.

It was just the firewall, did not update in time. Connections now work as intended. Go figure.

OK. To give more clarity. I need someone to guide me through setting up my config and setting up my daemon to run as delegate.

(or just as a server for the moment, but want to know how to make it start up and be logged in)

Again, I'm sure it's easy to figure out, but I am focused on writing a delegates statistics tool and don't want to waste time reinventing the wheel.

Thanks for the instructions GaltReport, it is exactly what I was going to ask next.

So whoever wants to get on chat or IRC with me and stick around until we set it up, let me know and I will reward you the 1000 BTSX.

I tried registering it @ freenode and got told that the official devs have to confirm that .. however the devs didn't want to "move over" to irc ..
maybe we should start a second attempt to let the devs confirm some of us so at least we can register the channel and do some support over there ..

I also thing (as most bitcoin and related projects are on freenode) that we REALLY REALLY *NEED* an (active) registered channel there

I am not trying to poo-poo but IRC always seems to be dead on most channels.  People end up not checking it often, etc.  It works great when both parties are around but otherwise I'm not so sure.  You also don't have a record for others with the same problem.

Although if you would actually keep an IRC window open someone should help you register the room. ;)
