This thread is just to collect volunteers for Team Viral.
Team Viral will be the core of the core active community posting, bumping, twittering, facebooking, chatting, and whatever else that fans of Bitshares can do to help spread the good message in social media.
I encourage posting alternatives to Team Viral in this [proposal] thread (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3423.0). Team Viral is not meant to be a [proposal] or an optimal solution, just a [social] group of people who want to help get the word out right now.

I'm in.
I3 seems to nbe focusing on long-term "real world" marketing. I think that first we have to win the hearts and mind of the crypto community! 80% of the population is not ready for bitcoin, bts x is like two orders of magnitude more complex and more revolutionary.

I realize that this is a volunteer thread but, I know a guy who has started a business that helps coins become viral. If you guys would be interested in his companies services then I could ask him to get in touch with you guys. Obviously, it would not be free.

True, I agree with your statement. I think that the key to winning the minds of people who don't know or want to accept cryptocurrency is to make it super easy to understand. In fact it should be so easy to understand that you can explain it to a 10 year old child and they understand.

I am not smart enough to tell you that! You know you best...what would you Love and have Passion for? What I can say is that we should all sit down and have a chat sometime to figure out how to move forward and where our niches could fit together.
What I have found in my experience with online communities is that it is usually best to have general goals and then to let people naturally fall into different roles. All I would ask is "Service before Self" and trying to be inclusive as opposed to exclusive.
But I have some ideas .... :)

I do think we should come up with some elements and concepts basic to Bitshares that can be directly related to more popular or mainstream problems and start conversation or content generation around them for submission on in high traffic channels that are indirectly related.

Do we know if Cryptsy is putting BTS on its exchange?
Pretty sure that answer is no. But if there is demand, it will be inevitable. Bitshares-PTS is there so don't see why it wouldn't and BTer as well. .
I think exchanges will be hesitant to add BTS at first because it's a test chain.
Cryptsy has implemented a voting system to add currencies to the exchange. I believe you get 1 free vote per day and unlimited paid votes (imagine that) - though I'm not sure of what the cost of a vote is.
Can Team Viral effort this please?

Voting on Cryptsy is definitely something we need to think about and coordinate. We should also get on btc38, and the other Chinese alt-exchanges. Comprehensive attack :D

Thank you everyone for taking the initiative on this one and going for it. I have many different channels I'm trying to market through but this is one that needs help and you all can certainly step in and run with it. There are always more marketing ideas than people and leadership to tackle, but I agree, this is one area that we can be doing more in. Thx, B

Please no Facebook. I just don't think this should be on the open forum. Actually, I run my business on Asana.com, which probably is most effective for this effort. If you guys want to PM email addresses I can create an Asana project. At least we can try it out. Definitely the best method I know of to manage tasks amongst a group.

Please send email addresses to join Team Viral in our Asana group. I think we can test it for now as a place to develop some strategies that may not be appropriate to share with everyone, and allows us to assign recurring tasks and and account for actions.

This seems to be a good place to use some of those Beyond Bitcoin platforms previously established. Google hangouts are wonderful and can be easily edited/posted to youtube, embedded in forums/webpages/twitter posts...
As for times. Weekends are best for me...especially Saturday nights.

Sounds fine with me...but it all depends on what the other crew members are up for. I think we should try to stick to a few dates/times and those who can show up show up. It is rarely going to be possible to get all of us together...and the good thing about being able to record meetings is that we can send them to each other to listen to offline.

Let's make some thunder right after the new site is released! We should target everything; Chats, Facebook, Twitter, Bitcointalk, ...
I'll be thinking up some stuff we can do at bitcointalk. Maybe unlimited_power or someone else could do Reddit? And lets all be extra chatty after the site is released. ;)
On Bitcointalk I'm thinking we should make
1. one thread concerning the newsletter,
2. one concerning the new site,
3. one concerning the upcoming conference,
..
..
I'll post links to these threads later. Does anyone want to help me post these threads? I can create them, but it will look silly if I post all the threads x)

Seems like Brian will continue to polish the page and review the text for a few days after today. We can start today when the site launches and keep it up over the weekend, to have a sustained increase in awareness. I don't know exactly when the site launches, but I'll start working on the threads later this evening CET.

yes, site is still scheduled to go up today (I haven't heard when) but keep in mind me and the team in VA will be going through it over the weekend with further edits, so probably next week would be the time to really get the word out and push for people to check out the site. I'm headed to Coinsummit in SF on monday to drum up some speakers/sponsors for the event and represent BitShares but after I get back I can jump in and see what you all are up to and how I can help in any way.

The Server has been set up and bitShares' Team Viral space within the Beyond Bitcoin Mumble (Open Source VOIP--like Teamspeak or Ventrilo). I will try to be in there at all times.
Hoping this will help us to communicate with one another about projects and plans moving forward without having to always plan specific times. Between the forums and this, we should be able to more easily communicate.
