Title: agsexplorer.com vs angelshares.info
Post by: mavisjames on February 13, 2014, 02:24:28 pm
Hey guys,

Haven't posted but really excited about everything that is happening. Just looking for some specification on donations. Where will the "true"
AGS amount be pulled from. On some days in specific my balances differ in excess of 17% from one site to another.

Just want to confirm so I know where I should be looking to maximize my donation on any particular day.

Thank you!  8)

It's hard to say, but for myself, I compare the below three webs, and choose to believe the closer two

http://angelshares.info/
 http://www1.agsexplorer.com/
http://www.enccoin.com/

I follow which ever one has a higher balance.

Well it has been awhile since I had checked mine...but it seems to be showing up very wrong for both sites for me.  PTS and BTC Qt clients show all tx's as going through though.

So there should be no issues even if the websites are not capturing the correct amount...is this correct?

Don't worry about it.  Check the transactions in your wallet, and look them up with blockr.io.  You will probably find that the "from" address does not agree with the address that you think you have.  This is because the default Qt client creates "change" addresses every time you send coins.  Example:

You have 1.0 BTC in your wallet, address ABC
You send 0.3 BTC to another address, XYZ
The transaction is printed in the blockchain as "ABC sends 0.3 BTC to XYZ.  ABC sends 0.7 BTC to DEF"
The new address DEF is also owned by you, and the private key is in your wallet.
However, you never know that you own DEF because the standard wallet is not transparent about this process.
Later, you send 0.2 BTC to UVW.
This shows up in tbe blockchain as "DEF sends 0.2 BTC to UVW.  DEF sends 0.5 BTC to GHI"
So now your 0.5 BTC is actually under address GHI, not ABC or DEF.  However, ABC, DEF, and GHI are all stored in the same wallet.

Because of this behavior, it is common for folks to send BTC to somebody else, and look for the transaction and not find it under "their" known BTC address.  This is because some of their BTC are actually stored under different addresses.

Feature request on http://www1.agsexplorer.com/ : Is it possible to make it so that if you click on a day, i.e. February 2nd, you would be able to see the list of transactions for February 2nd in the place where today's transactions are located?

@currencydebt, yes you can do that now by clicking on a specific date in the chart or use url like http://www1.agsexplorer.com/by_date/2014-01-14 to view a past date's donations.

API access is been organized and will release a section with APIs collection.

It currently appears that angelshares.info is bizarrely out of sync with most information.  E.g. it is still showing $870 USD per BTC; 0.169 BTC per PTS; and apparently hugely underreported PTS donations per day.

The big timer put on agsexplorer is wrong. It is sowing 1 day, 23 hours left while the time left from now is some 2 days 16+ hours.

You should just check the time for yourselves. The deadline is midnight GMT, so if you are not sure of time just google 'GMT time'.

EDIT: Its fixed now.
