Title: Hardware wallet
Post by: faddat on January 24, 2015, 08:27:21 pm
Hi, I'm Jake and my company is Dawn.  We're going to make a BitShares hardware wallet.  Purchasers of this hardware wallet (like any purchaser of a Dawn product) will receive an ownership stake in Dawn and a kick-ass hardware wallet.  I'll be putting the Linux bitshares client onto the wallet.

I've also got to get Fenix's web site back up and chugging before I get too involved with this and can't give you fine people a link.  Please use this thread to feed me your suggestions for the wallet.  If anyone has ported the wallet to ARM, please do let me know :).

Best,

-Jake

I bought TREZORs in the pre-sale. The project was greatly delayed, which was annoying, but eventually came through and I was pleased with the product.

However, when I purchased in the pre-sale. bitcoins were much higher lower than when the product was finally delivered. For this reason, I would suggest that if you do a pres-sale it should be in bitAssets.

 +5%

Also is the intention to make the wallet as secure as trezor with bitasset capabilities?

Agreed on the ability to hold any market issued BitAsset or UIA on the device.

Also the ability to vote with BTS stored on the device (cold storage voting should be in v0.6.0) would be great.

They dont want us purchasing using bts. They are looking for something more predictable...like a basket of bitassets. ;)

I feel this is extremely important. As bitshares gets more popular/valuable wallets will be targeted more often. We have seen it with bitcoin already and I think it has hurt adoption a lot.

I love my trezor, not a bad srarting point for your development.

You talked about these things using some sort of analog communication to communicate with devices and not standard stuff.  Why do you choose this design route?  I was lost ..  Is it described on the website?

Now we are talking,  by the way I have the same asus router that you have listed under the Dawn page.

I am all for a hardware wallet and I think you will get more interest once its release and maybe put up a youtube video showing it in use.

As someone that streams all their tv I would love to be able to use my windows pcs currently connected to my 3 tvs.

Again if you had a quick vid showing the product in use at say http://www.icefilms.info/ (http://www.icefilms.info/) http://projectfreetv.ch/ (http://projectfreetv.ch/) and http://putlocker.is/featured/1 (http://putlocker.is/featured/1)

I would be sold if it was priced competitively and I think many others would be too.

When trying to buy a Fenix on shopify and I try to pay with BTC the redirect to Bitpay gives an error.

 Anyone else experiencing same problem?

i might have missed a more recent thread you made but, status on this? You should definitely have a look at this https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=11008.new#new

Trezor wallet with Darkcoin firmware makes it usable for dark. So it should be the same with BitShares. If you're into hardware wallets you should check it out

It's not that easy .. darkcoin is basically a satoshi blockchain as Bitcoin is ..
BitShares is TOTALLY different .. also from implementation point of view .
for example: in BitShares you don't have change addresses .. but withdraw (partial) funds from an address ..
The transactions layout it totally different too .. aswell as the way transactions are signed ..
besides all the other features such as assets, voting, ....

"The device is primarily open source software and hardware that is for all cryptocurrencies, but more especially those that function on a Proof-of-Stake algorithm."
