When I start up BitsharesX software it shows "not connected" in the bottom right hand corner, I have tried rebooting it & the same result, how do I get connected?

Are you using the latest version 0.4.27.1 http://bitshares.org/downloads/
Be sure to backup your wallet before any upgrade, just to be on the safe side.
It's not BitSharesX now, it's simply BitShares. So, BTS not BTSX.

Hi David, thanks for the info ... I have not opened it since September when I bought my shares ... this may be a dumb question but how do I do a backup of the wallet? as you can see I am a real newbie!

I'll take punt and say it's the long letters & numbers + I have backed up the key!

go to file and export your wallet, keep your created. json file somewhere safe and update your outdated version with the last one at bitshares.org

Unfortunately not yet! But hopefully we'll see education and traning videos out there soon ...
