Title: Is it normal for the client to take a while to connect to the network?

I'm on mac and I downloaded the client but it is out of sync and has not connected to the network, is this normal?

add an extra seed node

From console (Help -> Debug -> Console)

addnode 94.23.215.174 add

We will be releasing updated binaries with new, more stable seed nodes.   Until then there are workarounds posted in the forums.
