Title: How to invest?
Post by: NineLives on September 06, 2014, 04:03:19 am
Hi guys..

I wanted to start this thread not just for me (who has fallen behind in his investments) but for new people joining the bitshares world that seems to be booming.

First question.  Now that I have BTSX in my wallet, what should i be doing to grow my investment?

I would keep most of your money in BTSX while learning how to trade, only use a small percentage of your coins at first.

Basically, if you think BTSX value will go up compared to the US dollar, then you want to short bitUSD or be in BTSX, If you think the price may go down you want to be in bitUSD.

If you think BTSX will not perform as well as Bitcoin in the markets, you can purchase bitBTC, if you think BTSX will outperform Bitcoin you can short bitBTC.

So on so forth with other assets.. same general idea for all of them just replace Bitcoins with any FIAT or commodities.

What about DAC's.  insurance, Music etc etc?  Where does all this come into play?

To get a stake of future DACs you need to buy Bitshares PTS. You can do that now or you can wait until a snapshot is announced.

If you own PTS or AGS at the time of the snapshot you will be gifted with shares in new DACS that honor the social consensus as they come out (too late for BitDNS and bit VOTE, the snapshots have already been taken - but you can still get in for Bit Music and others if you are a PTs OR AGS holder.)

If you want to get shares on coming DACs, best time to buy BitShares PTS between snapshots, before new snapshots announced.

OK, wait,

I invested all my BTC and PTS in AGS back in Feb or March (before the first snapshot deadline).  Then imported BTSX into my new wallet.  This means I have some AGS according to the AGS explorer.

Or I don't mind even investing some into BitPTS.  Buy them from where, the market in the wallet or BTER maybe?

Ta guys.

Minor correction: the DNS and VOTE DACs snapshots were recently taken; Music DAC is still on the horizon (unannounced snapshot date). I'm sure that's what you meant.  ;)
