Title: [ANN] Anonymous, Geobalanced DwarfPool for Memorycoin (CPU/GPU)
Post by: Atrides on January 12, 2014, 07:54:54 pm
DwarfPool
New getwork and first stratum pool: http://dwarfpool.com/

They are three server:
   erebor.dwarfpool.com (France)
   moria.dwarfpool.com (USA)
   nogrod.dwarfpool.com (Canada)

Getwork-ports: 8080 8081, 8082, 8083.
Long pool: yes*
GPU-miners supported

Getwork clients same as for mmcpool and 1gh.
Stratum client will be availabled soon.

Features:
 - 2% fee round based PPS
 - autopayouts from 0.5 MMC
 - full anonymous, no registration required
 - Free choice of 3 server locations worldwide. Put the other as backup servers or use them at once. All your shares will be calculated from all servers!
 - DDoS protection by different providers.
 - Works with all known GPU and CPU memorycoin miners.
 - Supported old Getwork and new Stratum protocols.

ToDo:
 - Stratum client

FAQ:
 - "Rejects": you can get it in two cases: HW-error or your share was to late, the pool has got new block to calculate (very often with clients without support of long polling)
 - all known GPU miners are supported!
To make worked MMCPOOL or 1GH-GPU-miners with DwarfPool you need change your /etc/hosts (in Linux/Ubuntu) or %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (in Windows)
Code: [Select]
You can put in hosts-file nearest to you one of DwarfPool's IP address.
For moria (US):
198.251.81.40 mmcpool.1gh.com

You can download 1gh-miner from backup on mega (new versions 1gh has no support of other pools anymore).
Windows: https://mega.co.nz/#!sA1QCSzA!V-bc2rFGhg6zAS32_OnisawM4CsSAmv27vLMUc6PDq0
Linux: https://mega.co.nz/#!0dNn1DCI!e5JeBnPZgkD-Y2fFCr8C352qlnvKWywiZfF8J-7M0T4

* Long pool: lower traffic and less rejects.

Change 23.01.2014: changed backup links to 1gh-gpu-miners

Hi, nice theme. ;D  is there any reward for the first miners?

Getwork-only?

X-Roll-nTime support?

Plans to support long polls?

Hi, nice theme. ;D  is there any reward for the first miners?

For first miners I have 0% fee  8)
Currently the power of pools is already around 110 KHm

Getwork-only?
Stratum-pool works already. Stratum-client will be ready next days.

X-Roll-nTime support?
I send the header with "1", but currently I don't know how cpuminer-based clients work with it.

Plans to support long polls?
Supported on "erebor"-server

From the long-polling perspective, out-of-order query processing is needed, so shares submitted to the same connection will get processed before long-poll response.

I am not sure if server you are using supports that, but probably will do more investigation on this, as well as stratum.

Beware, the binary this guy has stolen from mmc.1gh.com is modified and may contain malware (and most certainly it does).

You lie!

1) The files aren't stolen. They are the same. I have uploaded miners to mega.
2) All your copyrights and you pool name are in the README file.

Only example wallet in mmc-miner.bat changed via "YOUR_WALLET_HERE"

Beware, the binary this guy has stolen from mmc.1gh.com is modified and may contain malware (and most certainly it does).

While I commend you for doing the detective work and making sure binaries are not altered, I have an issue with you using the work "stolen" everytime someone uses your binary and modifies it.

How do I know your original binary doesn't have malware to begin with? I have to take your word for it, which doesn't inspire much confidence. You could have malware on the machine that you used to build the binary, even if you didn't intend to include one. The lack of open sourced projects here is not helping the confidence in this coin. There are plenty of people out there who will ONLY build from source.

We could set a bounty for open sourcing both yam and reorder's binaries and then all that "stealing" argument would go away. I'm sure everything and everyone has a price.

Furthermore - is it really stealing if it's already stolen? I could be wrong, but isn't your so called binary built on top of open source that has GNU license, hence the law says you should open source your binaries anyways? It's just hypocritical. I understand that you want to get rewarded for you efforts, and I think we can all benefit a lot more if these projects get open sourced. Then more people can look at optimizations, etc.
For what it's worth. There is no GPL-ed code inside, everything but Python interpreter is original work. While I admit I should have included this link: http://docs.python.org/2/license.html , this seems to be a quite minor violation.

Why not just provide a link to the original download location if one does not plan something nasty?

1) Because you can change the files anytime. And drop support of other pools.
2) All your copyrights and you pool name are in the README file.

I have added links to original files and new mega with backups if you will drop support of our pool.

Thanks for the clarification. But the real question is - why not open source the CPU/GPU miners? Is it pride? Is it greed? Is it fear? Afraid code can be adapted to other coins and you won't get rewarded?

I'm just curious is there a way to motivate you guys to open source it? I also think actions like that would help increase the value of MMC, which as you can see is still hurting.

I'm looking at MemoryCoin as a hobby at the moment (although I am generating about 3000MMC/day) and am learning a great deal of useful information. I would love to look at how an optimized CPU/GPU miner works and see if I can provide a different optimization. My time is very limited since I do have a solid full time job, I'm sure if I had the time off I could reinvent one in about two weeks from scratch. I've done a fair share of video game programming and writing shaders. But even in my limited time I'm sure I could help with optimizations.

Cheers!
It is very simple really - we opensource it today, tomorrow ypool has 95% network. They have done it to XPM and PTS, if it is of any indication..

Because he has already a power of more then 90% network.
And he wants to leave this situation as is.

Probably he has attacked already other pools https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2324.0 (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2324.0)

Oh, so it will switch from 90% at 1gh to 95% at ypool (which I doubt). What is ypool's fee? Do you have interest in the 1gh pool?
Yes, I have a stake in 1gh pools. It is not 90% anymore btw, mmcpool has caught up somewhat now that they have GPU miners too. Now we too get orphans sometimes, you will not suspect mmcpool in selfish pool tactics, will you? :)

Ypool's fee for PTS is 6%, and it is not really transparent due to their special kind of vardiff, but noone seems to care for their monopoly. Not even bytemaster himself.

I am spreading my farm across both pools to try and help balancing things a bit.

It only gets heavily lobsided when Mr. 30000HPM decide to crank up his botnet/gpu-cluster-fuk/university machines on mmc.1gh.com. :)

I will move a portion onto dwarfpool as soon as you offer actual worker stats, only seeing hashrate isn't enough.

On the contrary, I think he has been extremely generous. Here at MemoryCoin, we're trying out the crazy idea that developers can be compensated and rewarded for the work they do.

His fee could be 25 times higher and it would still make sense to use his miner.

Dwarfpool havn't hit a block yet so there is no earnings yet afaik.

Just curious about the shares per block shown, surely dwarfpool doesnt discard shares generated during a specific block period that is over ? Is it just a display thing and all shares submitted across the multiple blocks will get credited once dwarfpool hit a block ?

So it seems dwarfpool drops all submitted shares between network blocks, wtf ?

This is a seriously messed up way to set things up. Shares should be counted based on blocks found on the pool and not based on network blocks found.

Right now you are wasting alot of work of users who submitted alot of shares and in effect can end up getting penalised against new users who just joined inside a block that does get found by dwarfpool which is a huge no-no.

I will move remaining portion of my farm over here but not in the state you have it setup.

Basicly I could be throwing 10000 hpm at the pool right now submitting work and the network find 2 or 3 new blocks for other pools. If I drop for just one second due to various reasons(network issues etc.) and dont submit 1 share when the pool hits its own block, all my previous work means nothing and I get rewarded nothing for the newly found block by dwarfpool.

Don't worry!

Shares do not based on the network block, but on the pool's block.

I've created statistic page today (with "no found blocks"), just to show that workers sended shares and pool calculate it.
Therefore I don't put the info about pending earnings. Now, after first founded blocks, I will change statistic page and you'll see, everything is right calculated.

Hi

Sorry it just kinda confused me cause I had nothing listed under unconfirmed which led me to believe that it drops shares after network block got found.

My bad, glad to hear thats not the case.

Will be moving some miners over . :)

Right now there is no indication as to what balance is due/unconfirmed/confirmed etc.

Closes to it is the percentage of found block, could you please get that added asap.

The server stats displays the rough approximate speed and based on the speed of the sent shares.
Miner-client shows the own stats based on the real inner calculations.

what is the server config the worker MLkkYvuqdTGfcBuyCc2UVhNuK585X4GLMS is using to get 98 HPM?
It is not a server config, but the rigs with radeon-videominers (link to videominer in the first post of this topic)

Hi, this is normal. It is only because that no block was found in the last 10 hour or so
in the dwarfpool, which in turn is because currently unbalanced computing power in the other
pools. Once the block is found, you will get your payout.

On the other hand, you are contributing your computing power to balance the pools as
a honorable dwarf .... 8)

read this.

I am very tempted to just hop to the luckiest pools to grab the most amount of MMC.

We got two blocks with ~5k shares and now we're up to 27k shares.

With this capacity at the pool it was still a good luck to find two blocks, especially in such a short time. I already explained in other thread, because of the small capacity you have to look at a whole period of time, but not at a statistics for some hours. Generally, our pool with such dimension finds the blocks within the normal rate

thanks, I'll have a look at your link the next time

In essence, the link suggests a new pool share system.

This system of PPS promotes stable miners.

Once the pool becomes unlucky, they can leave and join the other pools for more block reward. (This may translate to more MMC if you find that the pool power increases, allowing faster payouts)

My % goes down as stronger miners join the pool, but I guess statistics are statistics when it comes to the payout %.

The pool is occasionally reports slower HPM speeds for me.

I am losing 20-40% of my hashing power to this inefficiency.

My payouts are not affected but it is unlikely that I will continue to stay at this pool if the pool cannot process my shares while other powerful miners transfer over to this pool.

Pool hopping only works if the whole network or large part hop around together.

Its very very unlikely that you would get any significant extra earnings by hopping mmc pools since mmc.1gh.com is about 80% of the network and doesnt hop around so in essence you would be the only one hopping around and 99.9% end up on mmc.1gh.com every single round just because its the highest hashing pool with the absolute least variance.

My payouts are not affected but it is unlikely that I will continue to stay at this pool if the pool cannot process my shares while other powerful miners transfer over to this pool.

You do not lose any % of your power! The server stats only displays the rough approximate speed on the main page. But your payouts are calculated on the real sent shares.
Please, see it at your example. You get about 90hpm, that is ca.100 coins a day according to the calculator.
You mined incomplete 3 days, according to the calculator that makes 250 coins as a solo-miner, minus 2%fee =245coins. This compares with your payout 247MMC.

By the way, the DwarfPool is the most transparent pool, there is the most detailed and open statistic, no stealing shares and no hidden fees!

No matter what pool is, the miner's get the same mined coins. On the large pool you get often but less, on the small one rarely but more.
Profit depends on the pool fee, for instance, the middle-"big" miner(5khpm) could save around 500$/month by dwarfpool due to difference fees.

>if the pool cannot process my shares

The pool processes all your shares! Some shares are rejected on every pool, this it through an old getwork protocol used by pools.

I started the pool because of my sympathy to algorithm of memorycoin.
but the danger of extinction of coin is big because of too high concentration of the network hashrate on the one pool. if the system is compromised, there is not much faith in a coin and no big interest on buying it. This also can be one of the reasons why memorycoin is not accepted on the stock exchanges. At the moment the price falls, as well as difficulty of mining, minus 30% for 2 weeks means leakage on miners..

The same happened to bitcoin when ghashio almost closed to 51%, the pool cut down its power for itself.

Thanks for the info--

I'm staying at and supporting dwarfpool because they first mentioned stratum protocol to achieve faster share speeds.

Oh and Atrides, how does adding other alt-coins to the pool server affect server load?

I'd suggest that you educate yourself about 51% attack actually: http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/658/what-can-an-attacker-with-51-of-hash-power-do

Or are you well aware and just spreading FUD? :)

I have tested the stratum server: not quite working yet, however I could give you some sympathy for how many getwork requests that pool owners are receiving.

My stratum server crashes after a minute or two of running, and none of the shares get submitted from stratum+tcp://moria.dwarfpool.com:3334

Stratum works on pool because the stratum is the core of pool, and getwork is just proxy for stratum.
We don't have stratum-clients currently.. it is just in development

I am well aware and I'm just wondering, why you can't catch the sense of an "attack 51%"..

The sense of the cryptocoin is that it could not be controled by any centralized organization. If an attack 51% was to be carried out, the reputation damage would be irreparable, calling into question the reliability of coin as a universal means of payment. It would undermine confidence in the coin and destroy its value.
Investors are not interested in technical details. Cryptocoins as an innovation system is just highly vulnerable to emotional state of the users.

You know how it works for ordinary users (95%) that's enough to undermine the confidence in a service etc.(for example by dint of an attack..) and it is under distrust in spite of the fact that it is the best one.

I do not suggest, just if you want to expand your knowledge in this subject educate this for the beginning:

http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/2014/01/09/warning-ghash-io-nearing-51-leave-pool/

http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-miners-ditch-ghash-io-pool-51-attack/
http://www.wired.com/wiredenterprise/2014/01/ghash/

in the interview with ghashio you can read, that they reduced their market share by themselves how I mentioned, because they didn't just want to make a profit out of the coin but to expand bitcoin community and develop the large bitcoin economic structure.

Well, of course it made sense for ghashio back then: PR attacks on them were undermining the bitcoin credibility and value itself, and they were heavily vested in bitcoin. Please note it was not them doing bad, but rather those attacking them. However, the MMC has something like a central authority by design: it is, naturally, the largest wallet in the system (save for bter perhaps who cannot bother playing voting :) ). This authority has already been executed on Newmine, and essentially nothing happened.

It isn't good to turn the subject ..

"Central authority by design" of voting in memoricoin is a little technical feature which is only interesting to some miners. But if you understood the point is, that success and value of coin do not depend on the miners, but on services and investors!
They prone to the influence of PR companies, NOT code is important in this context, but reputation of coin! if it is centralized at the POOL-LEVEL (do you realize the difference?) then the risk of fraud become very high, that means less confidence and interest.

Well, if you've mentioned the technical side, there is also no absolute certainty for investors in only one large pool
Just your article http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/658/what-can-an-attacker-with-51-of-hash-power-do
enlightens that the 51%-owner can prevent the confirmation of some transactions and so tricks.. ))

Hi, Dwarfpool has two servers listed on the website but there are three servers indicated on OP.
The Canadian server has the lowest latency for me, how well does the server work in comparison to the other servers?

Hi guys,

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong thread, just don't wanna open a new one for this.

I found some profitability calculators but I think I'm missing something since i get under $1 / day.

Can you please tell me what the expected profitability per day for an Intel i5 3570K non-OC 4 thread CPU is and what miner to use so I can maximize efficiency (currently using yam)?

Hey guys!

So I currently have 33605 shares but havnt passed the 2.2 coin mark I found while testing the pool last week.

I have read the previous comments in this thread but just wanted to confirm, I wont receive any coins until the block has been found? I was pushing about 70 HPM the entire weekend.

Any thoughts are welcome,

Thanks :)

Your coins will be divided upon all the other shares that were sent in order to find the last block.

After a certain amount of confirms for the block, the amount that is owed to you (shares vs. % in the last round[Shares between found block]) will be paid.
The paranoid amount of confirms in order for payment ensures safety for the network.

Anyway, if you mined for a period of time, wait for the pool to find a block so you can get paid.

Some improvements on DwarfPool  (http://dhttp://dwarfpool.com/mmc)

1. It's possible to separate your workers without changing the wallet-id now. This allows to get personal vardiff, if you have many rigs located behind stratum-proxy.

To specify the workers just enough to add in username (which is as wallet-id now), a number after point: YOUR_WALLET . NUMBER

Example:
Code: [Select]
HA5FPuWibнvoqiMPeUVptyGAwqg7y7uV5C.1
 HA5FPuWibнvoqiMPeUVptyGAwqg7y7uV5C.2
 HA5FPuWibнvoqiMPeUVptyGAwqg7y7uV5C.3

The main way without number works as before.

2. Implemented a monitoring of your workers. In case of disconnection from all servers you get an email within 5 minutes.

To enable monitoring just run miner with an email instead of your password. To disable it enough to restart the miner without email as password.

Monitoring works for each worker and IP separately. With WORKER_ID you can separately monitor your rigs.

DwarfPool German quality you can trust!

This is a first. Finally some user friendly improvements to the pool.

I would still like to use worker names with characters instead of numbers.

YAM won't accept my email address as the password.

3. Deployed a new server in Japan! eredluin.dwarfpool.com

For customers from Asia this will be faster than using our European or American server.

You should use the closest server to your location for best performance!

YAM won't accept my email address as the password.

According to URI encoding specs, some special characters shall be percent-encoded.

Look at https://app.zencoder.com/docs/guides/getting-started/special-characters-in-usernames-and-passwords for details and examples.

Check if that works for you, and report if not. I will take closer look on my side, too.

Can you please get the Canadian server back up?

I had better ping to it than the other US (moria) server.
