Title: Coinmarketcap listing
Post by: pgbit on September 11, 2014, 07:48:50 pm
CMC seems to vary its marketcap for Bitshares X, currently its at 2000,000,000 - which I guess is incorrect. Any way we can influence the accuracy?

Few days ago it's was correct, maybe coinmarketcap has temporary problems.

The burn rate is not signficant.  Likely whoever setup the feed for that # got tired of upkeeping the bitshares_client feed and just hardcoded in 2 billion.

Coinmarketcap will need a reliable source of supply information for  BitAssets and BTSX. Why has it not been setup yet?

Maybe bitsharesblocks.com site can be used for this.

We can supply coinmarketcap with urls like this

http://www.bitsharesblocks.com/assets/asset?id=BTSX&supply=true
http://www.bitsharesblocks.com/assets/asset?id=USD&supply=true
http://www.bitsharesblocks.com/assets/asset?id=CNY&supply=true
...

Isnt the burn rate like 1000 a day?  Insignificant when you think of total of 2 billion.

If they want a feed I could always provide one, anyone know where they're getting their data from now?

If bitsharesblocks publishes a reliable feed sourced from several exchanges I'll let the guys at coinmarketcap know what to use.

Bitsharesblocks only needs to publish BitAssets supply information, not prices, so exchanges are not needed, only Bitshares blockchain.

Not sure what you mean, what they need is just a feed of current supply for BTSX and each asset, data that's pulled from the client. They could just do that themselves, but if needed I could provide a jsonp call for it with all the supplies for all BTSX assets.

Yes, completely insignificant. Not rocket science though, to get the number right. If minor stats are incorrect, how accurate is the rest?

There are still fairly common updates and a few hardforks etc.  Unless you are already running a delegate, keeping up with all that stuff isn't necessarily 0 time.

And get them to list BitUSD, already, as its market cap is about $500,000, or about spot number 50 on there list of all crypto currencies.

I bet the steady price compared to market cap, will draw lots of attention!

Agreed - My work allows me to spend 11h of a 12h workday trying to stay informed with the latest developments. I spend 2 to 6 hours on top of that at home. And I probably miss around 1/3 of all the new stuff that comes out daily.

That being said, keeping the correct number of BTSX, as useless as it is, should not be a rocket science.

If people post there with the relevant info gliss will add it or correct.
BitUSD on there would be sweet. So you would need what info page you want to link to etc.
