Title: [Video] Help testing new features in DevShares
Post by: cn-members on January 25, 2015, 02:56:01 pm
Since that we have DevShares for testing, we can now test new features prior to new version of BitShares.

According to what toast said in this post, the GUI of 0.6.1 will change a lot, and we hope as many people as possible can help testing it.

For those who don't know , Devshares is the preview version of Bitshares for helping future development , it's not the same thing as Bitshares , and it's not the same ledger and blockchain .

Just like ‘demo.aboutbts.com’, we have set up a web demo wallet for DevShares. Go to ‘dev.aboutbts.com':

Sweet .. but IIRC devshares are supposed to have VALUE too .. so its not really a "testnet" with worthless tokens!!

Cool looks incredible,
A few minor things I found:
- Backbutton is active from the beginning, maybe it would be good to make it unable to click in the beginning.
- togging favorite doesn't work, but maybe I just don't understand how it is supposed to work.

(al done on a mac in Chrome)

Things are only really worthless if it fails anywhere in this series of checks:

(1) The value of it's utility is >0
(2) The value of the energy needed to sell it is less than the value of it's utility
(3) The value of the energy needed to obtain or produce this thing is less than the value of it's utility plus the value of the energy needed to sell it

In the case of (1), this has the clear utility of testing BitShares features.

In the case of (2), since this energy is constant no matter how much you want to sell, it may be possible that there is a minimum amount of DVS you would need to have in order for it to be worth something. This amount is probably substantially lower than the total amount of DVS, so this passes.

In the case of (3), it is currently very easy to become a delegate and voted in; this passes too.

DVS has value, no matter how little it may be. This is important because it will allow us to test price-feed and market functionality.

AFAIK the "testnet" uses XTS and can be compiled from the "toolkit" branch ..

DevShares needs to eventually have a price so shorting can be tested.

Yes you people need to write the code to do that!

DVS:DVSUIA gateway!

Unfortunately I'll likely end up doing it first but fellers remember, "we're all on the same team ! (sorta)"

Github to the moon!
