Title: CANCELLED - Delegate forum.lottocharity 35% lottery for forum users, 35% charity
Post by: betax on August 26, 2014, 07:56:16 am
NOTE: The idea is postponed after further NOTICE due to the change to 3% pay.
Hi all,

I present you my delegate forum.lottocharity (BTSX) and forum-lottocharity (DNS), is a mixture of lottery and charity, for those who know me / seen my posts, I am very keen of both. :)

The lottery part

If there is any revenue any week, 35% of this revenue will go to a lottery raffle. The lottery will be initially an snapshot of the the forum members from last Friday the 22nd of August. Every month it will be added new members with more than 20 posts.

This is the list of users ordered by the number of posts, with their correspondent number for the lottery / raffle.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pii56SqqYjkM1OpUKjbR9XoZ4_fwcIZVMPJ7Ty5iC9w

The prizes will be as follow:

1st Prize: 15%
then 10 prizes of 2%.

The numbers will be picked up using http://www.random.org/ every Sunday, using the advanced sequences http://www.random.org/sequences/?mode=advanced

The winners will be notified in this thread and direct message so their accounts can be credited. In the unlikely scenario a prize is not claimed after a month, the prize will be added to the charity fund.

The charity part

35% of the revenue will be added to the charity fund, you are welcome to suggest any charity you consider worth it. For simplicity only will be considered charities that accept crypto and support a worthy cause.

The rest

20% of the revenue will be to keep the delegate running.

I hope you like the idea, if you do vote forum.lottocharity and / or  forum-lottocharity (DNS)

Edit -> Please don't vote for betax anymore
Edit -> Corrected to 35%, 35%, 20% as it will be the only delegate running.
Edit --> New delegate for DNS / KEYid forum-lottocharity

Yes, you are number 3. You post nearly as much as bytemaster and toast ;).

Glad you like the idea, I thought that everyone that had been for the initial ride should be part of it, many people might have just registered an have a look once in a while, lots of newbies accounts from November. The 20 posts for new members follows the principle of the original giveaway of PTS, this way we can avoid fake registrations.

You already have some ideas for your charity part? I am still not satisfied with my ideas (for the *.charity delegates) ... yet ..

Mind a cooperation?

Nice one!
Just for clarification: Who will get the random numbers from random.org and how will you prove the numbers are not altered and this is the first draw.

* Note that an answer similar "Believe me I'll do it." is also perfectly valid.

I was also planning to update lotto.delegate rules so that the rewards are spread only between forum members and people who actively requested that. In that case we might overlap a bit.

Lots of thought on how to do it and be fair.

Luckily enough Ramdon.org provides a pre-generated sequence of numbers for each specific date, in the advance options.

So if you require a set from 1 to 5723, after inputting those values and the specific date, the random set will be always the same for everyone to check, from here we can pick the first 11 being the 1st one the winner.

2 lotteries instead of one, excellent :) If I win yours I won't feel guilty. This is lotto + charity I also overlap with xeroc there, but we are all giving to the community and good causes.

Excellent feature of random.org!
Didn't notice that (maybe due to the reason that my last random.org visit was 5 or 6 years ago).

maybe you could conisder taking the randomness from the btsx blockchain "random_seed" in getinfo

just take enough bits to represent the N participants .. ceil(log2(N)) .. and find a way to map it directly to N

Took a while to find a "decentralized solution", I originally thought about using part of Hackfishers code / plan. But this is far much simpler and don't won't end up wasting his time.

Yes that will be the ideal, but if I was automating something centrally then people will doubt that if the numbers have been tampered. A simple api to random.org could be built and if we knew all the receiving accounts of the forum members, a bot could be built to run every Sunday to get the winning numbers and pay the winners.

Saying so it will be interesting if the forum lottery could be a good PoC for the Diamond Casino.

Due to the news of the 3% delegate pay. The forum lottery charity will be postponed. NOTE That it does not matter as I have never been on the 101.
