Title: When will the GUIs reflect BTS's new capability for confidentail transactions?
Post by: n00bkid on March 27, 2016, 05:13:00 pm
Hi, Bitshares investor here.

I've very keen to see how confidential transactions will work in BTS. I understand the hard-fork required for the functionality has already taken place. When will it be available within any of the common GUIs?

Thanks.

There is still a sad bug in the back-end so it still requires at least one more hard fork.

Ah, I see.

Are confidential transactions still seen as possible? Is the bug viewed as fix-able?

Thanks.

Yes, it's coming, only a little bit slower than anticipated. If I remember correctly, there will be first a dedicated client for stealth transfers and when it has been tested enough, GUI will be implemented to the regular wallet.

Stealth = confidential + blinded transfers

Developers will know better but I think it will need maybe a month or so until it's ready.

The bug will be fixed on 4th April (the next hard fork). Then we'll be able to try the GUI on the chain.
