I tried to open my wallet this morning and I get a message that says error loading block database. I can't get my wallet open for some reason. I tried to reinstall the pts client and get the same message. What should I do. I made two dat file back ups  so I still have my pts. I just can't get the wallet to open on my computer.

Which version of wallet software your using?
If you using the latest version from: https://github.com/BitShares/BitShares-PTS/releases/
Try do delete all files, except wallet.dat from: C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming
and run the client again.
Before everything I suggest to make a backup copy of wallet.dat

I had the same issue last night and I have deleted everything (except the wallet.dat of course) in order to work...

Great I got it to sync. I just hope my pts is still there. When I made my back up I clicked the backup wallet tab and followed the instructions from there. Is that the proper way of backing up your dat file?
