Try this version: https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/releases/download/0.4.12/BitSharesX-0.4.12.exe. Works for me on Win 8 64bit. This is the 32 bit version, which can also be used in a 64 bit OS. The current 64 bit version is broken as far as I have heard.

Yes, I would stick to 32bit windows version for now, we're investigating problems with 64bit build.
