Title: Cross Chain trading
Post by: Akado on October 24, 2014, 01:05:58 pm
I remember reading somewhere about this, though i can't remember and dont know mucb about. Wouldn't this be viable and solve the problem between "multiple" bitUSDs between BTSX Chain, Music Shares chain, Play shares, etc? Or is it something that can't be done at the moment?

Also, it seems there is a white paper about a related project. Maybe in the future this could be done? http://www.coindesk.com/sidechains-white-paper-ecosystem-reboot/

I proposed a one way peg to solve this problem while at the same time adding liquidity to the BitAssets on the Bitshares chain...

the problem is, there are multiple chains and you currently can't trade assets between them. even if you have bitUSD on btsx and on peertracks, the chains are differents, the assets are differents, just share the same name and would 'spread' so to speak, the volume of bitUSD across the dacs and that is bad for the peg

A USD pegged asset on any other chain is NOT BitUSD and it should not be marketed as BitUSD.  BitUSD only exists on the BitSharesX (soon to be Bitshares) chain.  Please read through the thread I linked to in my first comment.

I agree this is an issue.  A built in transfer mechanism with a one way peg is a solution to help expand the userbase of BitAssets on the Bitshares chain.
