Title: BitShares Music = separate blockchain. Nothing has changed for us.
Post by: cob on October 27, 2014, 09:22:54 pm
Hi everyone.

Just to clarify. We haven't announced anything because we haven't changed anything :)

Plan A is still. Make our own blockchain using the BitShares toolkit.

If ever the entire DAC would gain by merging with the SuperDAC, then we will consider it. But right now, we are sticking with plan A since I think it's much wiser to take a wait and see approach anyway.

What if the superDAC is the best thing ever coded? Then sure, we will list pros and cons and see what everyone thinks and start that whole debate.
But at least we'll have a precedent and much less moving parts and "what ifs" to consider.

So plan A it is. PeerTracks needs to plug into SOMETHING and there is a lot of work left to be done there.

All this to say, nothing has changed and we will be vocal if we ever start considering it. You will all be in the loop.

Hope this clears things up.

Is this work happening ?
Do you have developers outside of I3 team that could work on the backend(if not merged)  ?
Is there work in progress on the Front-end(PeerTracks) ?
It would be cool if some more information will be given on the status of development or some kind of timeline. This will reassure investor that there is a solid plan, etc, especially  important in pre-sale in my opinion.

Just curious... Can it possible that Music will be merged into BTS as a DApp after its launch?
In this case, how are they merged, increasing the amount of BTS and exchanging Notes to BTS based on market cap?

I think this will be a good test bed to see how well a single app vs multi app bitshares blockchain will perform. Each method has it's pluses and minuses. Even though they are focusing on different markets, marketing is going to be key to how successful each one is going to be. Since I have stake in both I'm rooting for both.

The project is just GREAT. I would want to invest more in the presale, but I would first like to hear more from you : starting by more presence here on the forum.

Thank you for the clarification.

Now that I3 seems to have pulled away from all other DACs, does that change the situation here at all?  Will you need extra funding for development work that originally was planned to at least be assisted by some I3 devs?  I think any insights or assurances for work going on behind the scenes will help garner more pre-sale participation.

I like what I've seen so far from you guys and even have a couple friends not into crypto that responded positively to the idea when briefly explained to them.  I think with all the uncertainty swirling around, any extra information you can put out there will help your cause.

+5% for the "not into crypto" people : I'm convinced bitshares music could bring many people into crypto. When I present bitshares, I always start by bitshares music, and everybody I spoke to responded positively, people hate majors, and love the biebercoin idea.
Please make more noise !

So far cob has done a great job communicating his intention and this helps to tame down the uncertainties.   +5%

I think this would be the basic idea. I wouldn't expect it to happen strictly on market cap; if it happened, BTS would essentially be buying out Music. So there would be negotiations and eventually both parties will have to agree on a price; it's possible this price would not be exactly equal to the market cap.

If it happens, it will be interesting to watch: how does one DAC negotiate with another DAC?

It is necessary to vote officially for merging! Wish Cob will not be bribed by BM!
