Title: Bitshares Allocations
Post by: Ben Mason on October 28, 2014, 12:47:28 pm
I want to check my understanding of the BitShares allocations after the snapshot date (5th November 2014) and what actions need to be taken.  Please could I ask the community to check the veracity of the statements below and correct where appropriate.  I think this may help quite a few of us....

AGS 7% total allocation of BitShares – from 5th November 2014 snapshot – no action required other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client - 2yr vesting period applies

PTS 7% total allocation of BitShares - from 5th November 2014 snapshot – 2yr vesting period applies

In Wallet / no action required other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client

In Exchange / Some exchanges may honour the snapshot to PTS (Bter & BTC38) in which case PTS can remain on the exchange or you can ensure all your PTS are back in your wallet before 5th November 2014 snapshot, ready to import private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client 2 YEAR VESTING PERIOD APPLIES TO FUNDS HELD ON EXCHANGE

BTSX 80% total allocation of BitShares -

In Wallet / 1 to 1 allocation of Bitshares per BTSX – no action need be taken

On Exchange / 1 to 1 allocation of Bitshares per BTSX – no action need be taken

Unclaimed / 1 to 1 allocation of Bitshares per BTSX – no action need be taken other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client

DNS 3% total allocation of Bitshares - from 5th November 2014 – 2yr vesting period applies

In Wallet / no action required other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client

On Exchange / some exchanges may honour the snapshot to DNS (Bter & BTC38) in which case DNS can remain on the exchange or you can ensure all your PTS are back in your wallet before 5th November 2014 snapshot, ready to import private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client 2 YEAR VESTING PERIOD APPLIES TO FUNDS HELD ON EXCHANGE

Unclaimed / no action need be taken other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client

Vote 3% total allocation of Bitshares - Up to 21st August 2014 snapshot – All Unclaimed - no action need be taken other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client - 2yr vesting period applies

Music unclaimed – TBC – AGS and PTS may still be awarded an allocation

Play unclaimed – TBC – AGS and PTS may still be awarded an allocation

DNS may live on - TBC

PTS may live on - TBC

Thanks for the help....

Added vesting periods......

Added warning re vesting period to notes about exchange held funds.....

Exchanges will be subject to vesting periods as well.  Unless you wish to trust them for 2 years then I suggest you withdraw.

AGS 7% total allocation of BitShares – from 5th November 2014 snapshot –
no action required other than import of private keys into newly rebranded
BitShares Client - 2yr vesting period applies
Yes .. with vesting period in terms of "every day you can withdraw a 1/(365*2)-th of you stake.
7% in relation to the amount of initial BTSX - i.e. 2.5B

PTS 7% total allocation of BitShares - from 5th November 2014 snapshot –
2yr vesting period applies
Yup.

In Wallet / no action required other than import of private keys into newly
rebranded BitShares Client
Yup.

In Exchange / Some exchanges may honour the snapshot to PTS (Bter & BTC38) in
which case PTS can remain on the exchange or you can ensure all your PTS are
back in your wallet before 5th November 2014 snapshot, ready to import private
keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client
Also keep in mind that the exchange needs to STAY operating for at least 2 more years!!
Otherwise you will lose access to your vested stake!

BTSX 80% total allocation of BitShares -
Yup

In Wallet / 1 to 1 allocation of Bitshares per BTSX – no action need be taken
Not single action required (besides upgrading the software) .. also no shorts
need to be covere, nor any other open position

On Exchange / 1 to 1 allocation of Bitshares per BTSX – no action need be taken
Depends on the exchange .. but I would hope so :)

Unclaimed / 1 to 1 allocation of Bitshares per BTSX – no action need be taken
other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client
Yup - hold true for unclaimed stake in DNS too (AFAIK)

DNS 3% total allocation of Bitshares - from 5th November 2014 – 2yr vesting period applies
Yup.

In Wallet / no action required other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client
Yup.

On Exchange / some exchanges may honour the snapshot to DNS (Bter & BTC38) in
which case DNS can remain on the exchange or you can ensure all your PTS are
back in your wallet before 5th November 2014 snapshot, ready to import private
keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client
Yup. Again, remind the 2yrs vesting period here!

Unclaimed / no action need be taken other than import of private keys into newly rebranded BitShares Client
Yup

Vote 3% total allocation of Bitshares - Up to 21st August 2014 snapshot
– All Unclaimed - no action need be taken other than import of private keys
into newly rebranded BitShares Client - 2yr vesting period applies
Yup

Music unclaimed – TBC – AGS and PTS may still be awarded an allocation
MUSIC will not be airdropped .. it will stay on it's separate chain. Nothing
changes for them. No airdrop, no vesting, no importing.

Play unclaimed – TBC – AGS and PTS may still be awarded an allocation
PLAY will also not be part of BTS SuperDAC!

For DNS it would be nice with a summary of this fix as well,

Exchanges will be subject to vesting periods as well.  Unless you wish to trust them for 2 years then I suggest you withdraw.

For the vesting period, wouldn't I only need to use my private key once? Do I need to reuse my private key each time? Couldn't the vested amount simply be listed in my account after importing private key such that I e.g. move funds to claim more each time?

There was some talk of keeping the KeyID blockchain going...

That fix was potentially subject to change so i'll leave it off for now....
