Title: Trapped Funds in EUR
Post by: emski on November 28, 2014, 08:51:00 am
Currently there are not enough EUR price feeds.
This market had more than 51 at one point in time so there are about 2k EUR in circulation.
These funds are trapped until 51 delegate feeds are provided.

Can I ask why the feeds are less than 51?

Not publishing feeds is one thing.
What is worse -> publishing specific feed and after some time stopping it.

Don't misunderstand me, I think feeds are hugely important, but don't fire toast over this. He is even more hugely important :)

By the way, buying and selling should still work. I think only shorting is frozen.

Sorry about me, I had been consistently publishing feeds, but they broke 2 days ago because:
 - btc38 changed btsx->bts (fixed it immediately, was easy)
 - (not sure about this one) btc38 started adding a BOM to their json response, which broke the json decoding for me (and python 3.3 doesn't have a really informative message, 3.4 does but I don't have it on my server...) See: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/24703060/issues-reading-json-from-txt-file for the problem I had.

I am now happily publishing feeds again for USD, EUR, CNY, GOLD and SILVER

@wacku: can you publish your code or do you wanz it to be closed? Maybe alt, emski can learn sth from your script ..

Should there be added incentive for publishing feeds? Possible weak spot here...

I think once it gets competitive enough, delegates that don't publish feeds would not stand a chance of being voted in. It should sort itself out?

It is already available as part of my delegate tools located at https://github.com/wackou/bts_tools (in particular the file https://github.com/wackou/bts_tools/blob/master/bts_tools/feeds.py, but you cannot run it standalone). However, I think I would be the one to have sth to learn from alt & emski's scripts, as mine is really quite basic for now... I was actually thinking about integrating their version into the tools, as they are much more configurable, but haven't gotten around to doing it yet.
