Title: argentina-marketing.matt608 is now live! Please VOTE for this vital project!
Post by: matt608 on November 29, 2014, 01:30:50 pm
This is a 3 month plan, after that I will propose a new plan.

Class: Marketing delegate
Pay rate:  100%
Delegate name:  argentina-marketing.matt608

Plan in Brief:

-   50% of funds allocated to marketing in Argentina - Spanish language marketing campaign.
-   50% flexible to be used as needed for various marketing initiatives (may also going to Argentina for bitUSD drops)
-   200bitUSD a month personal take home pay (tiny tip for myself to help moral)

What have I done so far?

 - I wrote this (http://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/2nouij/make_2500_a_month_being_one_of_the_first_persons/), (edited by MeTHoDx), which appears to have contributed to a BTS rally and has already resulted in developer interest (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=11799.msg155886#msg155886).
 - I wrote this article (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Bso2N7RwexvSPVivPRPW07MSWy-Sv6W_FtW0fBukN98/edit) (draft material)
 - I wrote these lyrics (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=11584.msg152731#msg152731) (may not get used)
 - Created an Audio Ad (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=11785.msg155137#msg155137) for my delegate campaign which will air on the popular Beyond Bitcoin podcast this Wednesday.  I will create regular audio ads!
 - I have registered http://bitusd.com.ar/ (http://bitusd.com.ar/) and am in the process of setting up a bitUSD portal custom made for the Argentine market.  Cass has agreed to work (paid) on this once he’s available.

The Operation Argentina budget will be spent on the following:

-   Professional bitUSD video custom made for the Argentine market, pitched primarily as a savings account and with voicing in Spanish.
-   Developing an amazing design for bitusd.com.ar
-   Advertising campaign (banners, possibly adsense + more)
-   bitUSD airdrop onto bitcoin users via local exchanges and onto reddit.com/r/argentina
-   Small amount for community tips to helpers/consults.

Targets for 3 months time:

-   Have amazing bitUSD portal on bitusd.com.ar complete with video.
-   Have at least 10 articles written and published somewhere of value in English.  Translated into Spanish ready for use.
-   Establish exchange partnership in Argentina + airdrop bitUSD to it's bitcoin users.
-   Produce regular audio ads for Bitshares and have them aired in cryptocurrency podcasts and on relevant radio stations.
-   Stimulate merchant adoption

Audio ads
Besides from Bitshares, making music is what I love doing.  I play the guitar + piano and bass and have production skills with mics at the ready.  I have a library of home-made backing tracks to use in audio ads, with just a couple of guitars or a guitar and drums and bass, plus the backing tracks can be re-used and just the talk over the top changed.

I have produced 1 ad already and it will air on Wednesday on the popular Beyond bitcoin podcast: http://letstalkbitcoin.com/blog/category/beyond-bitcoin

I can keep doing this and sponsor every show (they are every 1-2 weeks) and are very popular.  I can make them for other radio stations too, customised for each audience. This will be part of my regular contribution to Bitshares!

Writing
Writing is my (other) main strength and I will play to it.  Matador123 is a Spanish speaker and lived in Argentina for 7 months and will be translating my articles into Spanish and helping organize campaigns to get them published on Argentinian news outlets and will help with general Spanish speaking community building.

I will help organize campaigns and contribute ideas and time to any marketing initiatives where I can be of use.

I will consult with MeTHoDx about placing ads in the Argentine market.

The community will be heavily consulted and I will work closely with community propose initiatives.

About me:
Real Name:  Matthew Jones (call me matt608)
Age: 25
Location:  UK

Relevant work history:
 - Age 18 founded limited company GetPlugD aiming to connect advertiers and bloggers, programmer got ill and project fell though before launch.
 - Between ages 18-20 created, marketed and sold blogs with no budget using SEO + free marketing techniques.  Earned over $20k+ from blog sales, ads and freelance writing.
- Age 20-21 was employed full time by a visa company in London to do SEO for them involving writing and link building.

Recent history:
Studied Philosophy at the University of Bristol, but had to drop out half way through due to becoming ill with CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome).  I still have this and it causes exhaustion but I can get the job done and bring lots of value to Bitshares.

As stated this is a 3 month plan starting from the date I am elected.  Once the 3 months is over I will present a new plan.

Pledges:
-   I pledge to pay myself not a penny more than 200bitUSD per month for 3 months.
-   I pledge complete transparency with my budget.  Anyone in the community who I pay for their help will have to accept the amount will be public knowledge.
-   All other funds will be spent carefully with the goal of increasing value of BTS without breaking any personal moral tenants, such as ‘the golden rule’.

I am really excited about this and can't wait to get started! (literally, I couldn't wait).
:)

My Delegate is now LIVE!  If you support my campaign and want me to keep working, vote for me:  argentina-marketing.matt608

Thank you

Quick question from the Chinese community :

How will a UK guy who is only 25 years old get on-ramp done in Argentina ?

Wouldn't it be far-fetched as a 25 year old Chinese guy claiming he want to get on-ramp done in Africa ?

Great question.  I wont directly, but I will work to make it so that using Bitshares/bitUSD an attractive proposition for exchanges there.

The marketing of the bitUSD portal will be marketing for whichever exchanges add bitUSD or BTS.  This provides a big incentive.  The bitUSD portal will direct users on to the exchange to buy bitUSD once they have downloaded a wallet from the portal.  There will be a link from the bitUSD portal to exchanges that trade bitUSD.  Therefore promotion of the portal is promotion of the exchange.

Without my creation of the portal and marketing it, this incentive will not exist.  I can even offer to mention exchanges in the articles getting them direct coverage.  I will be drumming up demand to use exchanges which have bitUSD purchasable on them.

Doing all this, including getting bitusd.com.ar set up be a great portal will stimulate cryptocurrency use in the region and give local exchanes an organic reason to add bitUSD.

Please don't hesitate to ask any other questions, I am happy to answer.

Rushing for a 100% delegate is not good for BTS.

We maybe need set some threshold of 100% paid delegates .

More really good questions.

There is bitpagos which services Latin America and other smaller exchanges some of which are still in development.

http://www.pampabits.com/
https://www.coinmelon.com/ - 4k fb likes.

These small exchanges are great initial prospective partners.

Complying with the local laws is the responsibility of the exchanges.  Bitcoins are not illegal there but there are reporting requirements.

I will find out more about local laws.

We maybe need set some threshold of 100% paid delegates .

The funds aren't going to spent for some time.  There's paying back the 60k BTS registration fee, then it will take time to save up to pay for video + design for bitusd.com.ar.  It might be 2 months before those funds get spent, and some of it will remain within the community too paying them for work.  Any ad campaign wont start until mobile wallets are ready and on-ramp established.  That could be 2-3 months away, there's no way for me to know.  The important thing is to be prepared, and ready to go when the time comes.

Most of the actual leg work, writing and organising, will be taking place in the first month or so with hardly any funds being spent.  Once things are all ready and the community experts (MeTHoDx for ad campaign, + others on the bitUSD video) have been thoroughly consulted the funds can start to be spent.

Edit:  I can't give any guarantees for when the funds will be spent, these are just estimates.  But I expect the spending rate to start small/nothing and increase over time.

It's a good first proposal and I plan to support more of these marketing delegates. However, I'd like to learn more about your Argentina plans also. Spending 50% down there means you need a plan, you need partners, and you (or someone working with you) needs a strong knowledge of that country's culture and finance systems. We have a couple of Argentine board members already who have begun this.

I'm encouraged by your ideas, but I'm not sold yet. Make this more specific and deeper in terms of your plans. I will support you if I feel you will add the requisite value.

since you're working with someone in Argentine , it's equally important to introduce him properly as you introduced yourself , if he's part of the plan .

For example , he will do news outlets , that's vague .  I can do news outlet too , but what kind ? what level ? State ? Province ? City ?  Town ? or Blog ?

I like the idea . But this post seems more like a "idea" to me than a proposal . Because a proper proposal is filled with details that can catch your reader's eye and mind , not just the eye . You need to convince your reader "I can do this" instead of "I want to do this" . So proving how you can actually do this is far more important than telling what you want to do .

Because those things you mentioned , if you even prove one important part with actionable facts and strategy , you'll get votes .

recently many new men join bts ecosystem ,it is the good thing for BTS . the BTSer don`t know what thing they do for BTS,and the plan is just a plan.maybe ,so I think they can run a low pay rate delegate, like 20% . if they really do well for bts ecosystem. then BTSer must would vote him as 100% pay rate delegate.

I'm skeptical of marketing to Argentina this early. Without a coordinated effort including on-ramps I think ads would be mostly wasted.

You did a good job with the "first blockchain job" post, I will definitely vote for you once you have more concrete plans fleshed out.

Thanks for the feedback, these are valid concerns.

I am confident I can address them all.

There's an overlapping concern you all share about the details of the Argentine campaign.  I have list of Argentine blogs + financial sections of online newpapers to target and Matador123 has a list as well. I'll get him touch with him again and get my list tidied up and have a more detailed plan ready within a day from now.

Just to be clear there will be no spending on Argentina marketing until the bitUSD portal is ready and mobile wallets with Spanish transitions are out and at least 1 on ramp established.

People seem to be underestimating how much difference it makes to market a product to people who actually need it.  I don't see such skepticism for marketing to the west.  That's like trying to sell food at a banquet, no one wants it.  There stuffed full already.  Sell it where people need it.  That is above and beyond all other factors the most important one making a marketing campaign successful, and I will have it on my side.

It's also about being prepared.  I don't want the software to be launched and then have no campaign ready for this vital location, which is likely to have much higher conversions than other areas due to the dire need the population has for unlimited access to a stable currency, again, I emphasise,I am selling bitUSD where it is needed.  (initial onramp may have limits, but once bitUSD knowledge is out there and people know about it they'll be able to use local trader apps which are in development to get unlimited access).

@BTSdac, 20% pay is simply not enough.  100% pay is approximately $2500 per month.  So that is $7500 for this 3 month long project.  Deduct from that $1200 registration fee (60k BTS) and you have $6300.  20% of that would only be just over $1200 for the whole 3 months.  That is barely even enough to get the bitUSD portal + custom video done.  Of course I shall endeavour to keep costs down but $1000-$2000 would be my cost estimate for that.  There would be no point getting a great portal set up without marketing to promote it.  With 100% it provides a couple thousand for banner ads and sponsored content in Argentina.  Then there is an additional few k ready to optionally add to the Argentina budget if there is a high conversion rate, or use on the western market for simple things like press releases and more ads in the cryptosphere.  Honestly $7500 for such an important market is nothing.  In my opinion having 2 delegate spots dedicated to 100% Argentina would be a good move.  I only stated 50% of my pay to be 'flexible' in case opportunities in other markets presented themselves.

I want to say again *nothing will be spent on ads until the software, bitUSD portal + onramp is ready*.  A good company is prepared.  bitUSD is so useful in Argentina the idea of it will spread very easily.  It would be a very bad move to attack this market.

Marketing is not rocket science.  It is just important work that needs to get done.  I can do it.  It's a global world.  Banner ads in financial sections of online Argentine newpapers and articles sent out to local money advice bloggers is the way to go, once its all ready.  This will be enacted with the combined expertise of the community.

Do you want a campaign to be ready in time or not?

Keep the feedback coming.  I want everyone's concerns addressed.  Tomorrow I'll post back with more details of my media targets.

I just want to add that in terms of division of my time, writing articles will be the single largest part, probably taking around 50% of my time.  In the first month I will have a bunch of articles written and probably probably published (in the English speaking market), which can be evaluated by shareholders who want to decide whether to keep the 100% pay rate going.

Yep!  Its basically an (almost) free part of the package.  I just need a little tip, 200 bucks is enough, to wet my appetite.  Better to under-pay while the DAC is young and needs nurturing and then pay generously when its massive and can handle the capital extraction.

How many articles would you propose to write in six months? And where would you post/publish them?

How many articles would you propose to write in six months? And where would you post/publish them?

Six months is too far ahead to think for me in terms of article numbers, I'd prefer to keep estimates no more than 3 months as that's all my proposal covers.  The number of articles I write depends largely on article ideas and the quality of those ideas.  This week I've written 2 articles and my delegate pitch.  2 a week is 8 a month or 24 over 3 months.  To me that number sounds like a '****tonne' and its hard to imagine that many good article ideas to inspire me.  I mean quality articles, stuff thats good enough for very popular websites, not some crappy pumping with no substance.  I can't crank them out like a machine, they need to be populated by ideas.  That's why I went a safe estimate of 10 in 3 months.  Translated into Spanish and Chinese and the safe estimate gets 30.

Chances are I could do a lot more than that, but I don't want to make any promises I might not be able to keep.  Thanks to the amazing community great ideas fly around here all the time so using community inspiration I could even end up writing more than 24.  For all I know I could get 10 good ones done in the first month.  But I'm just going to stick to a safe prediction of 10 in 3 months.

Keep in mind its not an exact thing.  Articles can be modified to have a slightly different angle on them, in which case, is that 1 article or 2?

Where will they be published?  Wherever they can in a way best for the DAC.  MeTHoDx went straight ahead and published one to r/cryptocurrency, I was expecting to offer it to pop-tech blogs such as Wired as an exclusive but it turned out pretty well.  On Nullstreet there's a group of contributors in lncluding HPEnvy who help decide where to send the articles and what order to do things.  I certainly will aim for popular websites and leveraging social media to get the most out of each one.

I like your plans of marketing, they seem very promising.

Methox is running a 100% payrate delegate, and it seems Methox has planned a lot of promoting activities, but he is still in the stage of ability proving, instead of results enjoying.  So I doubt the community would agree to support two "unconfirmed" marketing teams at the same time, given the overlaps of your plan with Methox's.

Why don't you join his team first, and prove your ability there. What you asked (200USD per month) is just a small portion of Methox's income, I think he will welcome you. If in future, we really need more marketing teams, you may start a new team by then.

Matt608, I'm encouraged by your answers. I'm thrilled that you're doing some marketing work for BitShares; I'm still not quite convinced on this 100% delegate.

The 3-month plan sounds good on paper, because none of us can foresee what the needs will be at that point. Flexibility is wise. Nevertheless, I'd like to see what you are interested in + capable of doing beyond that three month period. The reason is that once you're in as a delegate, 100% is a high rate, and I think we'll be "stuck with you" (for better or for worse!) for longer than that. This BitShares delegate voting system is not nimble enough to turn on a dime and get rid of an incumbent delegate who is not performing. So as a buyer, I want to know how you are justifying that 100% pay rate, not only for the next three months, but beyond. If I'm going to support you, I'd like to maintain that support for more than a few months.

We only have one marketing delegate. He was just voted in. That 100% delegate was a stretch for many people in the community. Personally, I'd support a dozen marketing delegates or more if I think they bring adequate value. And I'm close to supporting you, but I need to know more about what you're capable of delivering. The "hired by the blockchain" posting was very high quality and I'm sure that has brought you some more support from this community...justifiably so.

If you want to get enough votes as a delegate, I'd suggest you cover some more possible ideas for what you could or would do. Again, the flexibility beyond three months is an honest approach. But a lot of people will look at this and think, okay, so we vote in another 100% delegate, and this guy's going to write us some articles + somehow focus on Argentina, but the latter only once his delegate fee is paid off, which won't be for several months. What ELSE would you do? What passion would you bring? I see solid dedication in your postings and I think your idea of taking just $200 a month is very selfless to begin with.

Here's what you're being compared to (or compared against). Methodx came in here and started posting comment after comment of what he thought BitShares should do. What the marketing folks weren't doing and what he believed BitShares needed YESTERDAY. How he had experience with startups and the marketing followed a certain plan of progression for increasing name recognition and lighting a spark, etc. Over time, I think everyone reading his material became pretty convinced this guy knew his stuff and could be a big help. Methodx was a 'thorn' in I3's side for months, yet he was respectful and deferential, never the pompous sort of high tech-promoting marketing airbag (we all know that sort), always positive about BitShares, recognizing that the BitShares marketing team was forced to wait for a functional client before hitting the trigger on their plans, etc., even while pointing out what could be done better as far as selling it. Go back and look at his posts; he was frustrated, trying like hell to get BM and I3 to let him crack the inner circle and adopt some of his suggestions. And since the I3 folks largely have their noses stuck in Github, trying to do their crucially important part in getting us a good product, he was continually frustrated.

With BitShares fully decentralizing, Methodx realized he didn't need I3's blessing. Delegates are the only institution left in BitShares and he could become one of them, do his own thing, promote this on his own terms, even while the BitShares Marketing team is going in other productive directions. And as soon as he started that thread announcing his intentions to become a 100% delegate, one of his first supporters was Bytemaster. Plus a lot of others. I'm pretty sure there wasn't a single person reading Methodx's posts who didn't want to see most of that stuff happen that he suggested.

Matt608, you don't have to take the same approach he took. But if you seek a 100% delegate, people are going to be comparing you with what Methodx brought. They're going to be looking for more than three months' worth of articles, etc. You've gotten a great start here already and helped us nicely. But what else would you bring? What are you capable of doing? What other facets do you have once you've written articles on the most useful subjects? Show us your passion. And some ideas for what you would (or could possibly) be spending that 100% on, after the first three months.

Give us that and I'll go "all in" on endorsing you for a 100% delegate.

donkypong thanks for the useful feedback.

I have a great new addition to my campaign:  Regular audio ads for Bitshares.

donkypong asked what passion I would bring.  Well, Besides from Bitshares, making music is what I love doing.  I play the guitar + piano and bass and have production skills with mics at the ready.  The fatigue syndrome I mentioned prevents me from having the stamina needed to produce full length songs, so I've amassed a pile of what would make great backing tracks to use in audio ads, with just a couple of guitars or a guitar and drums and bass, plus the backing tracks can be re-used and just the talk over the top changed.

I have made 1 ad already and it will air on Wednesday on the popular Beyond bitcoin podcast: http://letstalkbitcoin.com/blog/category/beyond-bitcoin

I can keep doing this and sponsor every show.  I can make them for other radio stations too, customised for each audience.

This will be part of my regular contribution to Bitshares!  I've edited the OP to include this.

I changed it to be more specific as the majority of my funds will be spent on the Argentine market (bitUSD portal creation + advertising campaign).  Time wise i'll be contributing directly to western marketing and then re-cycleing whatever content I can to target Argentina.  It's a case of a job that needs doing and getting the money allocated to the right people to get the job done. Once bitusd.com.ar is ready most funds will go to the Argentine ad budget, getting eyeballs to the page.  Once enough people have started using bitUSD it will go viral.

It will be a team effort.  Think of me as project organiser.

MeTHoDx's advertising expertise is globally applicable and I will make good use of it.  Cass's design skills will make the portal attractive.  Matador123 as translator (will hear from him soon) and market researcher will help MeTHoDx and I target the ad campaign and will help me target media outlets for content publication.  Various community members can help with creating the bitUSD video.    Communication with local bitcoin exchanges to broker partnerships can be done from where I am sitting.  It's worth the extra effort to get to this market because the conversion rate will be so much higher.

That was a very long answer to a very short question, hopefully useful to deliberating voters. :)

Just forwarding some info from the Chinese community .

They love the guy who was doing the mobile wallet .
And he also runs a local crypto platform in Argentina .

Also , your proposal states that nearly all of the spending are dedicated to Argentina promoting .
So , is it possible to team up with him and apply for one delegate ? (big percentage income for him to continue the wallet and get things done there )

Since he already got the advantage , I think he would be more suitable than anyone you're working with in Argentina . (you need more than translator , you need people on the field ) .

I've contacted him and waiting to hear more.  I agree a partnership would be great.  I wasn't aware he wanted a delegate position, I thought he was making the wallet for the benefit of Latincoin.com + Argentinian people.  What this great development tells me is this Argentinian focused campaign is needed more urgently than I expected.  I need to get voted in immediately to have funds to develop the bitUSD portal, otherwise there wont be anything to promote.

Definitely.  I would be happy to see latincoin with a 100% delegate for developing bitUSD walelts etc and myself for funding marketing with consultation with latincoin.  Its one of the important bitUSD markets, 2 100% pay delegates are still not enough.

I support Matt because he's proven himself very clever and action oriented. To solve the issue of him not being from Argentina himself, I would suggest getting other Argentinians on board as "advisors" at least. As a delegate, he should simply be expected to delegate funds to the appropriate people from Argentina.

Matt,

No offence.
I hate to say this but being a high pay rate delegate means getting hired by a DAC, you gotta prove yourself before asking for votes. Posting on forum is easy but developing business is another thing.

Do something, show the community your talent. Then things may get more easier.

Do something, show the community your talent. Then things may get more easier.

No offence taken.

An employee having immediate control over fund allocation is unusual, so I can completely understand the caution.  The way I see it, the almost 0 pay for myself and initial work done for free combined with 2+ months of community participation and paying over $1k for the chance at having a position more than adequately compensates for the 'faster-than-usual-delegation-of-funds' risk.  Especially when you can change your mind with a click without having to fill in any forms ;).    My 'taking the plunge' with this does prove something about me.  You want marketers who make a splash right?

I am confident that over the the coming days and weeks everyone will gain confidence in my ability as I continue to write, organise and prepare.

I will point out though that not voting for me is to vote to delay development of the bitUSD portal, which now with this great news from Latincoin, we need ready asap.

I have agreed to do translation work for Matt, and I support him as a delegate. I truly believe that this is an incredibly important market that can really help get bitUSD out in the mainstream.

Clarification: I lived in Argentina for 7 months, not 7 years. I came back this past July, and while I was there I was studying the country's economy with a special interest in crypto. I consider myself very knowledgable about this particular market. I will be working closely with Matt, as well as some connections I have down there, to help market to this region.

Yeah I like the enthusiasm and I'm the biggest supporter of Argentina based initiatives
I also really liked your efforts here http://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/2nouij/make_2500_a_month_being_one_of_the_first_persons/

It's a reasonable plan but I probably wouldn't vote for this at this stage though. The guys below look much better placed for the initiative and I don't think a young, English, UK based 100% pay-rate marketing delegate is going to add more value than Spanish guys based in the country, who have started and advertised a Bitcoin website and have some technical ability.

Dear community,

My name is Matias Romeo and together with Pablo Tutino we are both cofounders of Latincoin.com.

We are based in Buenos Aires (Argentina) working from the "Bitcoin Center Buenos Aires" (aka: Bitcoin Embassy)

As many of you know the current situation in our country is one of a big opportunity for bitUSD, and seeing that the mobile wallet for bitshares is lagging behind we decided to do our contribution and started the development of a mobile bitasset wallet.

We think that Argentina has a lot of potential for the daily use of bitUSD and we have a lot of efforts going on in that sense that hope to release soon.

Sorry if this comes across as overly critical, but over-seeing a successful and credible campaign, especially in a foreign language in another country that also includes the production of a decent video is a big task and requires more relevant experience or a few more smaller BitShares based jobs to prove your ability imo.

There is room for 2.  If Latincoin wants a delegate to fund development of bitUSD wallets and related services I would absolutely support it, but that's what their delegate pay would be for, not marketing a bitUSD-only portal.  Offering a marketing budget to exchanges is not the way forward, it creates a conflict of interest on their side on whether to promote their exchange or bitUSD.  I am a BTS loyal delegate, my marking will be about bitUSD and forming mutually beneficial partnerships.

For example, it could be a great idea to airdrop bitUSD on users of Argentinian bitcoin exchanges (it can be sent to a bitcoin address).  If this was done, it's better to be done via a BTS loyal delegate to ensure the terms of the drop are maximally beneficial for BTS and bitUSD adoption.  You don't just want to give it to an exchange and say 'here you go, good luck'.  The the bitUSD portal should be ready so the Argentinian exchange can email all their users about the drop and direct them to the bitUSD portal to watch the video and download a wallet, meanwhile while the BTS delegate helps them promote the giveaway via funding ads + writing press releases etc.

Bottom line:  You don't give exchanges a marketing budget for your product, you form a mutually beneficial partnership.

These guys are based out of the Bitcoin Embassy there. https://foursquare.com/v/bitcoin-embassy-buenos-aires/53600232498e3c9e1a73367e

They couldn't be better placed or connected and they've developed the wallet on their own initiative.

The first step is clearly to interact with these guys and learn more about their views on how they see BitUSD spreading in that market, what they're looking to do on their side and work from there.

We are very pleased for the reception of the wallet and this encourage us to work even harder.

This is how our vision goes regarding bitUSD in Argentina.

Today Bitcoin in Argentina is being used for:
- Speculation.
- Bring money/Receive payments from overseas (at higher rates than the official dollar rate)
- Merchants to avoid credit card fees and to get the money in banks earlier. (and some of them to avoid taxes)

To a minor extent:
- Tourists exchanging Bitcoin for ARS with OTC brokers.

Bitcoin is not used as a currency but as a way of transmitting money.

The problem with the dollar in Argentina is not one of a supply for small amounts. (Importers are the ones who are restricted).
If you want to buy 1000 USD you can do it on every corner of Buenos Aires or any other major city.

Common people keep part of their income in USD, but when they need to use it they can't without exchange them back to ARS.
Its a problem of convenience, you don't go every day to your USD dealer looking for ARS.
Besides that everyone here know the exchange rate of USD, the economy is not dollarized (Argentina is not Ecuador).

Thats why a bitUSD wallet that allows consumers to spend their USD in everyday purchases has great potential.
Besides that this currency connect the users to a global market, allows them to send instant remittances and gives a bank account to non bankarized ones.

-----

Our short term goals are:
 - Evangelize the Argentina Bitcoin community.
 - Use the existing Bitcoin infrastructure to convert ARS<=>bitUSD.

We are willing to work together in a complementary manner with matt608 and MethodX in the strategy of bitUSD for Argentina.

Going back to work!

Hello guys, it's awesome seeing so much interest about Argentina!

I had been following this awesome community since almost a year, but I was only active on bitcointalk forum.[1] I now think it's time to take actively part of this great project.

For almost two years I had been participating in the organization of meetups here in Buenos Aires [2], which now are mostly being done at least monthly in the new Bitcoin Embassy along with other events.
We are also in the making on a Civil Association so we can have a legal framework behind us (more news about this soon :).

We were talking just this weekend with Matias (ElMato) about making some local work toward marketing, and that particularly a Bitshares Meetup will be a good start.

Or an information portal on bitusd ?

It will have an explainer video in Spanish telling people in simple terms what bitUSD is and links for wallet downloads, and a links to local exchanges where users can buy bitUSD.  All marketing will direct people to this portal, to sell them the idea, get them to download a wallet and then direct them on to an exchange to fill up their wallet.

I'll be able to measure the wallet downloads to find out which traffic sources resulted in the highest or lowest conversion rate (downloading a bitUSD wallet + clicking through to an exchange) and modify the campaign accordingly in order to improve cost effectiveness over time.

After much thought, some private messages with certain parties, and a review of the work that Matt608 has done for BitShares thus far, I have reached a decision.

Argentina is ripe for BitUSD. Though Matt608 is not located there, a marketing delegate's main role is to direct resources to the right places. I am now very confident that Matt608 has the necessary knowledge and contacts there to make some great things happen for BitShares in Argentina. We must take advantage of this momentum and fund a marketing campaign there.

The wallet guys are doing excellent work. If funded as a delegate, they will be working primarily on that wallet, not on marketing. Therefore, deciding between voting for the wallet guys or for Matt608 is a false dilemma. Do not vote for the wallet guys INSTEAD of Matt608, because they will be doing different work. We need them both.

Matt608 can direct funds to marketing BitShares and BitUSD in Argentina. With its economic problems and massive inflation rate, Argentina could be the first great market for BitUSD. It won't happen if we don't make this investment NOW.

I hereby endorse argentina-marketing.matt608. I will vote for him and I hope you'll consider doing so also. Remember, your vote is not permanent and you are welcome to change it later; Matt608 must show positive results if he wants to keep your vote. Right now, our Argentina marketing needs a shot in the arm. Matt608 and his partners can provide that.

Join me in voting for argentina-marketing.matt608.

A big thank you donkypong!  As you rightly say, a delegates job is to delegate.  I will delegate funds to the right people to make bitUSD adoption happen in Argentina.

Gentso1, none, but that is not necessary to delegate.

 - Websites can be designed from anywhere.
 - Videos can be produced from anywhere, with consultation from local people.
 - bitUSD can be airdropped from anywhere, with communication with local exchanges.
 - bitUSD banner ads can be bought from anywhere, with consultation with local cryptocurrency enthusiasts and (western) advertising experts.

And thanks Riverhead :)

When/if someone from or who lives in Argentina puts up a marketing delegate proposal, and campaigns for it, we can decide between the two - or even add it if that will add more value. In the meantime, let's get this ball rolling. Anyone who is non-performing can be voted out.

 - Evangelize the Argentina Bitcoin community.
 - Use the existing Bitcoin infrastructure to convert ARS<=>bitUSD.

Hi, this is a question for you or Elmato. In terms of marketing BitUSD to Argentina...

Do you think Matt's delegate plan is the best approach?
Or do you think we would do better getting another marketing delegate based in Argentina?
Maybe someone already based at the Bitcoin Embassy too, with Argentina + Bitcoin marketing experience to handle marketing and marketing material for Argentina? If so is there anyone you can suggest?

I see you studied philosophy as well. Plato's vision is the prophecy.. :D

And those who lack the vision are dancing at shadows on the wall.

I have voted for Matt as well.

If I may offer my perspective, we should have 3-5 marketing delegates at 100% pay just for targeting the Argentinian market.  Far far more has been spent on western markets where cost effectiveness will be lower due to less need for the product.  This ratio of western marketing/inflationary economies needs to be corrected.  That is why I have stepped up.  I would fully support multiple Argentina marketing delegates who presented a solid plan.  But lets get this one going first before launching more.

And many thanks for all the votes everyone! :)

I don't think 5 Argentinian marketing delegates are warranted until we have more information about this market. There are circa 8000 people to initially target. (Existing Bitcoin users.) It's a very focused group. What we need is marketing at the epicentre of Bitcoin Argentina. We now have a Bitcoin Embassy based team looking to evangelise that community. They may be able to suggest the ideal marketing candidate for this role, who has both Bitcoin & Argentinian marketing experience, including valuable media contacts in the area. They may be able to do most of what you are planning to do for BitUSD, faster and more effectively.

I will vote for you as at the present time we need more marketing delegates showing your kind of initiative. This may not be the most productive/valuable use of your time though if we can get Argentinian based marketing talent with Bitcoin contacts and experience.

We DO have several people who are in or from Argentina or have experience in that market. And from what I've seen, they're lining up to help Matt608. He's got a team going and he's developing partnerships. We need this delegate in there NOW.

Couple of things, I just listened to his talk show http://letstalkbitcoin.com/blog/post/beyond-bitcoin-22-bitassets-and-the-austrians (http://letstalkbitcoin.com/blog/post/beyond-bitcoin-22-bitassets-and-the-austrians) and he is great personality. Great radio voice, well spoken, just a good listen all around.

I agree Argentina is a ripe market. I would like to also hear Matias (ElMato) thoughts if he may have a local contact.

The reason being is that it is hard to sell or convince someone that something is for them when you don't live and interact with the local population.I think we are downplaying the value of having a local with a locals mindset, that will know how to speak to these people because he has lived their lives.

matt608 is a great radio personality and thats his natural talent lets support that, He is all ready great at it, give his show a listen and tell me he isn't good.

Just so we're clear I only made the the 1 minute long audio ad for the show (30mins in), its not my show.  Arthur Falls was the one interviewing Bytemaster.

The Core essentials of my plan, bitUSD portal with wallet download links + Spanish language explainer video pitching to a mainstream audience is pretty much set in stone as the plan.  The marketing approach of that portal is still very much open to discussion.  There's bitUSD drops, there's other viral marketing ideas being batted around and if any local Argentine marketers propose a plan they can have funds delegated to them if the community favours it.

Oh man, how do I write this post, without getting a Nullstreet fatwa declared on me?
Well here goes...

Dear Matt,

After quickly reading through this op, I was exited that we had someone trying to run an Argentina marketing delegate. I was partiqually looking forward to your radio ad on LTB, since this is one of your main skills. To be honest I was shocked, and I can't understand why nobody else didn't bring this up already. Your just not radio material.

Next are your writing skills, and I hate to say it, but that unpublished article just isn't a nice read. I don't see it getting posted on techcrunch any time soon.
This gets me extra worried because you will be responsible for the content on the "Argentina BitUSD portal".

The only reason left for voting you in, is so you can delegate funds to Elmato and Fran2k.....
I don't think this is a good idea, for reasons mentioned by bytemaster in the 12-5 hangout. https://soundcloud.com/testzcrypto/beyond-bitcoinhamgout-12-05-14-updates-from-bytemaster
(17:30).

This raises an interesting question. Am I being to hard/demanding, or are others just to happy to to vote in any delegate with a "marketing proposal"?

I used to be of the opinion that every effort, how little it may be, would bring some value to BTS. However I'm starting to think that, that since BTS is in it's startup phase, it's crucial that the shareholders make decisions on effectiveness rather than just getting something out there. The decisions we make now, will have an effect on further BTS adoption.

Sorry for being a bit harsh, but tactfullness isn't really part of my skill portfolio.
I guess I shouldn't be running a "Bitshares tactical delegate" campaign.

I see it the same way.
My two concerns are: Not professional enough with respect to what I have seen (the bitusd video and the radio ad) and not actually from Argentina / not native Spanish.

Graffenwalder, I always appreciate an honest opinion.

My radio ad was my first ever radio ad.  Aruther Falls (legendface666) who runs the show said it was a great ad and he was excited to have such high quality material on the show.  It's possible he  says that to everyone, but that's the only other feedback I've received on it.  I don't see what's wrong with it, though next time I won't spell out my delegate name at the end.  Could you explain what was wrong with it or offer constructive feedback?

That unpublished article is a bit rough now I look at it again.  I was attempting to bridge a very niche topic into a more mainstream lens which was a bit too much of  a stretch.  With a little bit of editing to re-target it to the cryptosphere it can easily be upgraded and used somewhere.

No comments on the other one on r/cryptocurrency?  My copy actually got used in a relatively successful marketing push and I've had lots of positive feedback on it.  It can't be bad.  I also coined the slogan that will be used in the social media 'thunderclap' campaign.  "Crowdhiring, it's a thing".

With the radio ad, not even the official marketing team took the opportunity for a free slot on a popular bitcoin podcast.  I am the only one who took action.  Do you want to get things done?

Re: delulo on the video I slapped together, that was voluntary and nothing to do with my delegate campaign.  I was frustrated by the endless talk about videos and nothing getting done.  So I had a go myself.  At the very least it helped inspire the community marketing efforts by setting an example of taking action.

And again there was endless talk about Argentina but no budget for it.  I am the only one who took the plunge to make sure it goes ahead.

Like I have said before, delegates delegate.  I won't be creating the bitUSD portal on my own, but I will be making sure it gets done.  BM said in that podcast he wants delegates with a strong vision.  I have that.  It doesn't mean doing it all myself and paying myself a salary.  What needs to be done in Argentina requires a wide assortment of skills, it's a team effort and  I am more than capable of co-ordinating it and funding the right initiatives with plenty of community consultation.

Great statement. It reminds me how wonderful it would be to see an official marketing/project plan and the work that's been done over the last 4 months. As for Matt's delegate, Elmato and Fran2k support Matt's initiative and those guys are already making a difference at the Bitcoin Embassy.

Here is my constructive feedback:
The radio ad: I couldn't hear the voice because the music was too loud. Either recording was not good enough or the "radio voice" has to be practiced a bit. Text / content could have been more on point (more relevant content).
BitUSD Video: It didn't look professional in the sense that it was obvious that it was a power point presentation made into a video.

Matt,

Like you said these are just my opinions and they are like taste. Not everybody likes the same flavor.

Radio ad: I would suggest a voice over, I used http://www.goodcheapvoiceover.com in the past. And they do exactly what it says on the tin.

I must have looked over that reddit link. To be honest I found that to be a good post.

Crowd hiring, it's a thing? Sorry but this just doesn't do it for me.(again taste)

Getting things done:

As for the official marketing team. I hope they are drawing up a battle plan in the war room. And are just waiting for the perfect moment to strike. And that might be the reason for not taking the slot. Again I hope this is the case, like most of us here we won't know, until they launch it.

As for this Argentine campaign I'm still not convinced, that you are the best man for this job.
Also at current marketcap you will be taking a big part of the budget. (200 bitusd)
You might be the only one stepping up to the plate, but that doesn't mean you'll bring value to the team.

I'd rather see someone putting up a helper delegate for someone, who has proven skills.

Let me just finish by saying, that I'm not neccesarly for or against the official marketing team, and/or an Argentinian campaign.

I agree. As of now, you have stepped up to the plate, and are getting something done. No one else has (in this niche). You also seem able to take criticism and to learn.

I have given you my vote.

That is not set in stone. If your efforts don't prove fruitful, or if a better option comes up, I can and will take my vote elsewhere.

I thought quite the same the first time I saw the matt delegate proposal... British and non-Spanish speaker? WTF!

But...

I had been around this forum since almost a year ago and I really like Bitshares but despite been very active in the local community and that with some friends we were thinking "what to do" about BTS we almost did nothing.

Matt started the discussion and marked a point to start. It impulsed us too to make some local action.

As the community speaks mainly Chinese and English is key that any delegate could communicate in both, which he does. For me this was a barrier to propose a delegate as I'm not enough confident in my English. It's clear that almost any delegate must be or have a team able to communicate in English, Chinese and any other language necessary, in this case Spanish.

I believe that as the Bitshares ecosystem grows, 'unipersonal delegates' are going to disappear fast. People is gonna team-up to add more value.

;)

You can provide more reliability by publishing your version.

And please consider publishing price feed and slate if possible; the former shows your ability of responsible delegate, and the latter will build healthy network among delegates.

Month 1 update:

I've been working closely with Frank (fran2k).  So far we have achieved:

- BitShares 101 translation. View on cryptofresh (http://cryptofresh.com/products/36)
- Frank gave a long talk explaining the whole of BitShares at the first BitShares meetup in Buenos Aires to 30+ attendees.  This video recording (http://=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3WXMOQ9-uo) was made of the event - see photos here (http://=http://www.meetup.com/Bitcoin-Argentina/events/219090827/) and the BitShares Argentina google+ page (https://plus.google.com/108286277155439858065/posts)
.  A bitUSD giveaway was done too and the cost covered by elmato.
- Shorter talk by Frank to 60+ attendees at this  Bitcoin + BitShares meetup (http://=http://www.meetup.com/Bitcoin-Argentina/photos/25872394/).  Video coming soon.
- Paper wallet's designed and ready for upcoming giveaways (better looking versions coming soon):

Link builing - I obtained a link with keywords to bitshares.org from the homage of politicalcortex.com.  View my article (http://www.politicalcortex.com/story/2015/1/29/83518/2299)
"Open Letter to David Cameron on Freedom of Speech, Government Surveillance and What to Do" at the top of the featured section on the homepage.  This article is 2k words and has been submitted to other sites and awaits publication.

Only approximately half of my first month budget has been spent and I have not paid myself back the registration fee.  I'll probably do that in the third month as I'd rather get fb ads running asap than pay myself back.  General grass-roots marketing I've done includes a couple of Bitcointalk threads here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=895637.0) and here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=924481.0).  I've played an active role in commenting about BitShares on articles and I made a bitshares homepage digital sketch to help with the design process.  I'm part way though creating an SEO keyword list - view here (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WU8pBzb5LeQ5J_UG4fMjOAPSgTlUpnpeG9GQwa7QLqs/edit?usp=sharing).

Expenses spreadsheet. (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1t5zv_g6xfphTNl9e8Z55Jf7LHzFEz7QwjBUXZ__hCFI/edit?usp=sharing)

Month 2 Plan:
Frank has agreed to start working full time for BitShares for $100bitUSD a week.  Frank will be working on:  Written translations, video voice overs for cn-members videos + riverhead's tutorial videos, broschure creation and street giveaway, giving talks at the meetups, organising more meetup events, basic meetup video editing and networking, making connections and other tasks.

We are also looking at sponsoring an impressive speaker who travels around Argentina talking about bitcoin, to talk about BitShares.  This is not yet arranged but conversation has started.  Talks with a local bitcoin exchange is also set happen too within the next couple of weeks.

A tracking method is being worked out for paper wallet + brochure giveaways.

Facebook ads will launch and send traffic to a Spanish version of rgcrypto's awesome http://bitshares101.net funnel to build an email list and promote the book.

I will increase my article output this month, now that BitShares.org is (very nearly) up and running.

That's it for month 1!  Total expenditure $641.  I hold all my personal pay in bitassets ($200 a month).

I'm very much looking forward to month 2.  Things can really start, with the book + website to promote we will start seeing new users.
 :)

Edit:  Just want to add I've been paying from my personal account due to having trouble with my client - as you can see all the delegate pay is still with my delegate wallet (in case anyone was wondering why it's still full). http://bitsharesblocks.com/delegates/delegate?name=argentina-marketing.matt608

That sounds good! Thanks for your honest work Matt.
How are South Am. connections to journalists or other influential parties going?
Did you find the time to talk to bitcoinba?

Here's the video from the 2nd meetup event:

BTC 2.0: Bitshares & Sidechains - Buenos Aires Meetup (2015-01-22)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2-AnQJw7es

Most of the talk about BitShares takes place in the second half.  Thanks to Frank for organising the event, giving the BitShares talk and producing the video.  The video has few views at the moment, but as we start to build an email list (starting this month) then it will be a resource that can be sent to leads as educational material.

Thanks for the messages of support.

Fran2k and elmato gave a talk + workshop on BitShares at the bitcoin + bitcoin 2.0 meetup in Buenos Aires 2 days ago and gave away around 65 $1 bitUSD to different people at the event.  It's a great job by them.  rgcrypto placed ads on meetup.com and fb and gained some extra attendees.  My delegate pay provided the giveaway funds.

The next event will be in 2 weeks and for that we will have tracking added to the paper wallets to record signups.

Wonderful job you are doing! I'm coming to believe that countries like Argentina are where the real marketing must take place. People NEED this there.

I want that cass do a final design, because this ones were made by him in a hurry and then I will do a pull request in the xeroc repo.

Also we should agree on a text for the backwards instructions. Now there is only info to import using elmato's mobile wallet. We need to add at least the link to the new web page, in which case we will use one able to track visits. Work on the paper wallets will be on the xeroc's original thread.[1]

people not afraid of using python may give this script a try:
https://github.com/xeroc/bitshares-pytools/blob/master/Transactions/sharedrop.py
It's a rough python script that constructs withdraw/deposit transactions and signs them (offline if you want) and sends them to the bts_client ..

the example above will take (as inputs) .1 BTS and 5 USD from two different balance ids and send 1 USD each to new addresses ..
I will write a howto/readme tomorrow to give you hints about how to use this .. maybe make it even easier to use by interconnecting it more with the client ..

https://github.com/xeroc/bitshares-pytools/tree/master/papersharedrop

Now have a working script that does the following:

1) you define the balance_ids to withdraw USD from (and another balance id for the BTS tx fee)
2) the python script connects to the client and finds the amount of USD you want to distribute via sharedropping
3) .. extracts the private keys for the owner of the balances (USD and BTS)
4) generates random private keys to sharedrop apon
5) constructs a single transaction to fund the paper wallets (haven't tested the max. size of the transaction yet)
6) stores a backup of the keys in a wallet.csv file
7) construcsts a png with QR codes for every single key ..
8) it is functional but requires plenty of things for the setup ..

I will work more on this .. especially work on a README and installation procedure ..
If you tell me your feature requests, maybe I can add them too ..

Month 2 Update:
I posted some rolling updates as they came in this month.  These are the already announced updates originally posted on the previous pages of this thread:
 - Video from the 2nd meetup event in January:  BTC 2.0: Bitshares & Sidechains - Buenos Aires Meetup (2015-01-22)  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2-AnQJw7es)
- February meetup where 65 $1 bitUSD paper wallets given to different people at the event.  These are the event details (http://www.meetup.com/Bitcoin-Argentina/events/220501847/) and photos from the event. (http://www.meetup.com/Bitcoin-Argentina/photos/all_photos/?photoAlbumId=25929577)
- Got us a link from natural news (http://blogs.naturalnews.com/government-surveillance-strikes-back/) and BeforeItsNews (http://beforeitsnews.com/politics/2015/01/an-open-letter-to-david-cameron-on-freedom-of-speech-government-surveillance-and-what-to-do-from-an-elected-bitshares-delegate-2685554.htmlnatural news) (article written in Janurary, but published in February).

Other achievements:
-  My main contribution this month is this animated explainer video script (https://docs.google.com/document/d/10FEfs99mM1-IqlzOaG2R-ASk98cBYtvzNqATSEkp9E0/edit?usp=sharings).  This is version 2 after a making edits based on feedback from my first draft.  I'm working on a third and hopefully final version now based on feedback.
 - Worked with rgcrypto + fran2k to have Spanish BitShares101 funnel set up.  It's now ready and viewable here (http://bitshares.tv/espanol-bitshares).
 - Started this thread (https://hashtalk.org/topic/31799/mine-usd-at-minebitshares-com-payout-in-bitusd-most-profitable-multipool-bonus-payouts) about minebitshares at hashtalk.
 - Sponsored this (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=14554.msg189307#msg189307) small twitter marketing campaign by favdesu.
- General BitShares presence on article comments, bitcointalk, reddit and attendance of hangouts and providing opinions on various matters.
- I set up this reddit ad (http://www.reddit.com/comments/2wnfv9/bitshares_101_a_guidebook_on_how_to_profit_from/).  I spent $75 and recieved 63 clicks attaining a CPC of $1.19.  Despite getting a reasonable cost per click there was not a single sale of the book!   Due to this being a flop I will pay half the cost myself from my 200 BitUSD take home pay (deducting $37.5).

March Plan in brief:
- Continue funding for paper wallet giveaways at events (essential).
- Advertise events to make them larger - radio ads campaign for Buenos Aires being developed.
- Finish animated explainer video script.
- Use any 'spare' funds for bitshares101 funnel promotion on facebook.
- Be open to other opportunities.
- Pay myself back the delegate registration fee.

View the expenses spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1t5zv_g6xfphTNl9e8Z55Jf7LHzFEz7QwjBUXZ__hCFI/edit?usp=sharing).

My 3 month plan has come to and end and I've decided to hand over my delegate position to the local Argentina marketing team giving Fran2k direct control of the delegate.  Jumping in to a delegate position myself living the UK to ensure marketing in Argentina was funded was always a short-term solution.  Fran2k has has always taken the initiative with BitShares promotions and is well connected and capable of building a BitShares community in Buenos Aires.  He has organised many of the meetups and given talks about BitShares at them and will provide a delegate plan shortly.

My own contributions to other BitShares marketing projects remain but I'll  be less involved for the time being.  I called a halt to the animated explainer video production of BitAssets due to it emerging to me that BitAssets may not be the feature that most urgently needs explaining, but rather the UIA features coming very soon could be more important and bring in much more income to the DAC through UIA registration fees.  In which case paying for a BitAsset explainer video would be the wrong move, even if 6 months ago it would have been worth it.

I'd like to take this opportunity to announce I no longer have a marketing position with BitShares.  A local team in Bueonos Aires has been established consisting of Fran2k, Matias (elmato), Pablo, Ariel Aguilar, Maria Palma (video staff), Nahuel (miner and sysadmin partner), Mike and Eti Marcus (dev, designer).   There are plans for them to launch their own delegate as a replacement within 3 months, but for now will use mine.  This transition should increase efficiency as now that a trusted local team has been formed I can step aside and they can chose how to market BitShares locally themselves.  My real achievement was simply securing funding for marketing in the region.

This month there was no expenditure besides paying myself back the registration fee.  The rest has been saved up and will be passed on to Fran2k along with the previous months savings.  Standby for the local team's plan - to be posted shortly.

Bitshares Team Argentina

Who we are:

We are working on:

Updates on delegate team

We want to thank Mat608 for his great work as Argentina Marketing partner and his initiative on this delegate creation, wise driving and reliable administration. We are proud to have his confidence as delegate successor, and wish him the best for his upcoming projects.

We agreed with Matt on a delegate replacement for argentina-marketing-matt608, and he kindly accepted to run his delegate a couple extra months so we can prove integrity and commitment to the community while coordinating the new delegate registration and vote swap proposition.

With actual team reorganization we are working voluntarily. No one is getting paid for their contributions until we prove being valuable for the network. If a specific service needs to be paid to somone, that will be proposed in advance.

Budget allocation

Given our main goal to target already crypto-friendly public until Bitshares stable release, expenses have been low. As long time active members of Bitcoin Argentina community, we already have place and resources to create Meetups and participate on many conferences and other crypto related events. Costs are many times limited just to BitUSD paper wallet giveaways, printing and little else.

Matt has around 1500 BitUSD delegate savings (plus last weeks payouts).  He has already covered his delegate registration fee.

We want to keep this direction, while making bigger plans for the upcoming times.
We would like to have some feedback at this point:

We'd like to hear all views that contribute to align the community on a steady course

Thanks to Matt608 for his work in jump-starting this. Job well done. I'm very excited about you guys in Argentina and what you have planned. I'll simply state my opinion on one of your question items: yes, pay yourselves back on the registration fee as soon as you wish. If the money is available to offset that cost, then why not pay it off as soon as you can? Aside from that part, I trust you to make the right decisions on those other points, knowing your team and your market's needs far better than I do!

  • Should we start a discrete paid advertising campaign prior to 1.0 release?
  • Should we remain filming talks at this moment?
  • Would be right if we use funds to pay the delegate registration before the vote swap?
  • Would you like Bitshares to sponsor Ariel Aguilar Bitcoin Evangelist conferences on one of his sponsorship/pricing categories? I.e. in the 250USD we could have access to participation in stands in top tier conferences where we can giveaway paper wallets + brochures. (See his Bitcoin Evangelism Plan Crowdfunding Campaign (http://docdro.id/xcf0).)
  • Any other input is also welcome

Next conference in which we could be sharing a stand with Ariel is Red Innova (http://www.redinnova.com/) on March 13-14.

We would like to have some feedback about sponsoring with the 250USD/month slot i.e. (see Ariel's pdf). So I could be in the stand giving away paper wallets and brochures.
