Title: A few questions on voting and the number of BTS users
Post by: Volker on January 30, 2015, 02:21:07 am
1. I can only see the percentage of votes on bitsharesblocks. Is there anywhere that I can see the raw number?
2. What bitshares are eligible for voting? Can collateralized bitshares vote? If I short bitUSD and receive collateral from a bitUSD buyer, can I change the votes of those bitshares?
3. According to this poast (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=13793.0), there are 6000 distinct balances associated with account registrations. Given that one can register multiple accounts. Can this information can this data tell us anything about the number of users? Are there any current estimates of the # of bitshares holders?

Given 6000 unique balances, one of those balances is probably the faucet which has been registering most new accounts for a while.    Many users have unregistered accounts.

All of that said this is probably a good estimate on the number of users if you assume everything cancels out.

A "poast" is a post by toast? I like it! :)

I've got the full vote amount on the individual delegate pages, but I'll see if I can add a tooltip on hover for the percentages so you can get the actual count easily from the overview. I used to show it but the numbers get so huge I removed them to gain some space..

To answer your question #2: No, I don't think so, the collateral is held by the blockchain so you can't vote with it.
