Title: Hello, I guess I'm a Newbie
Post by: Neocash Radio on February 01, 2015, 01:58:45 am
I've been into bitcoin for a while now, so it is a bit strange to post in the newbie forum.  However, I am new to bitshares. I'm here to learn.  Please direct me to information about the assets that are traded with bitshares.  Is there a fee schedule somewhere.  (For example i think it was 0.5 BTS to register an account.)  What are the best bitshare and bitasset exchanges?

Welcome!  To learn about the bit assets and the decentralized exchange, check out the website bitshares.org and the whitepapers there.  The exchange itself can be found in the wallet and there you'll find many markets to exchange bitshares for market pegged assets and user issued assets.

Hi NR

A pretty good video to check out is on bitshares.tv https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzruOULgmng

To create a UIA is 500 BTS for a long name, and 500k BTS for a short. All the fee schedules are public and easily viewable here:

As to your last questions, as CR mentioned, it's all built into the wallet.

Hope this has helped.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help out with.

Jonathan

Welcome to the forum

There is plenty of good information on hte forum, albeit quite a bit disorganized.

bitmarket has written a book that explains the complex subject  of Bitshares in layman terms, and he is promoting the sale of his book here.

I just read the book last night and was quite impressed.

Some non layman terms would be nice as well.

Thanks for your input.  I haven't found a full fee schedule yet.  For example I just learned about the 5% margin call fee.  5% of collateral, or 5% of the asset shorted?  Who get's that fee?

How are new bitshares created and under what rules?  How did the existing bitshares come to be?

Fees Explained: http://bytemaster.bitshares.org/bitshares/2014/12/30/BitShares-Fee-Schedule-Explained/?r=sschechter

This is bytemasters blog (aka inventor and lead developer of BitShares).  Almost every question you can ask about BitShares has a long, thorough, in depth, explanation.
