I'm sure there is a "reasonable" explanation - kind of reminds me of the Theranos Board of Directors:

*Edit: It looks like that DARPA contract FA8750-11-2-0211 funds quite a bit of cryptographic research

"Zerocash guarantees users' privacy by providing "Zerocash payment transactions" that do not reveal the payment's origin, destination, or amount of any transaction. Any transaction is recorded in the ledger as a random-looking string that suffices to ensure the monetary invariants, yet is zero-knowledge: it reveals nothing beyond the fact that, somewhere, some valid transaction occurred."
So the fix is to take away the auditing capability of transactions?
They must have had one hell of a power point! :)

All of our hard drives and phones have been backdoored, what's one more backdoor? :-\
Yeah I was really behind Zerocoin protocol since it was first being discussed because of Matthew Green, but lost interest back when I saw the state's involvement.
I try not to support evil corporations as much as possible.
Especially the kind that like to suppress free speech and claim that it's a problem. ;)
