Title: NOTE Price discussion
Post by: biophil on March 26, 2015, 03:17:59 pm
Has anybody done any ROI calculations for NOTEs from the pre-sale? I can't recall my ballpark figures exactly, but it seems like the pre-sale was implying a market cap around $2MM, which isn't far from where NOTEs are trading now. Anybody care to give actual numbers?

Hey where are you seeing notes being traded? Internal or 3rd party exchange?

Look to the NOTE:BTS in BitShares client market.
All other info you can see here: https://bitsharesblocks.com/asset/info?asset=NOTE

Search lower in the UIA search bar instead of the market search bar.  Then, once you've clicked into it, you'll be able to click "enter BTS/NOTE" market.

I think we need Bitshares URL to a specific market, say NOTE:BTS

e.g. bts:market/note/bts

I did not see any NOTES until I restarted the application.  My wallet must have been in a bad state after re-installing and synching with the latest.  My transactions were missing too, but they're also back after restarting.

I did some SWAGs (which would not be too accurate because the BTC price constantly changes). But working back from market cap during the donation funds and working back from what I thought was a representative donation day.

It looks like notes were more expensive during donations than they are now. They should be cheaper during donations because of the risk premium of no liquidity.

To me this looks like people are selling because of the bear market and trying to unload their positions. I am bearing for the short term.

Or its the awesome "community support" of AGS/PTS holders who are dumping since they effectively got it for free. (Kind of)

These statements are completely false!! I was a PTS shareholder from day 1 and much later AGS shareholder and I am now at serious losses...Back then BTC was at $600 - $800 range. Back then BTS had an implied valuation of $40 mil...I would be in an amazingly better position if I had saved my funds back then and was able to buy BTS and NOTES at current levels. So basically new comers are getting BTS and NOTES now effectively for free..I doubt that many from PTS/AGS shareholders are dumping now unless they are desperate for cash..

Well, I'm glad to have received most my notes. I'm hoping to get a few from BTER, but we'll see. 8)

Now, if only the .8,.8.1 clients were more stable. It's crashing for me more than bitshares ever has. :-\

But that's what you get. Rome wasn't built in a day, not even a Mcdonald's hamburger is.

I'm on win 8. It's been crashing when I go into the exchange and try to view charts and place orders. Either it crashes or the charts take extremely long time to load.

When I upgraded to .8 I somehow ended up on the forked chain. I've resynced my blockchain and now the client works and can stay synced as long as I don't try to do anything.

It's crashing if you have low memory.

How many NOTES are there total? Web wallet detail suggests:
"MAXIMUM SHARE SUPPLY 50,000,000,000.00 NOTE"
"PRECISION 10000"
"CURRENT SHARE SUPPLY 1,274,224,569.8041 NOTE"

Where I was expecting to see a simple 1,500,000,000. What is the difference in the current; and how is the maximum so high?

NOTES release: yet another way for PTS bears to get some more BTS that they will be able to dump.

Also: NOTES.  Yet another thing the Bitshares community blew all their money on that wasn't Bitshares, resulting in the price of Bitshares going into a neverending bear trend.  Also see: PLAY.

Where we can sell PLAY for BTS to dump it?  :)

Edit: Personally I suggest to buy BTS now, because price is low.

lol PeerTracks has laughably more going for it than PLAY.  I'm trading NOTES because I believe it has potential to solve a lot of problems within the music industry while challenging the Spotify model IF done properly.   << So let's examine this theory briefly.  Currently Spotify has an estimated market cap of ~$4Billion.. while I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong here) NOTES have ~3.5 million based on recent trading.  That means Spotify is valued at 1,143X the value of the service NOTES and PeerTrack can offer.  My trading is calling shenanigans on that valuation.  The trade can be seen as shorting Spotify or shorting BTS but regardless there're odds I'm willing to take based purely on confidence of the Peertracks team and the underlying technology offered by BitShares,

Personally, I say let the maximalists make their decisions to dump the other chains. Others will get a chance to buy in cheap...of course that depends on if they agree with the MUSIC model.

@fuzzy: what do you mean by "the other chains"?

I wouldn't look at the NOTE/BTS price too much. BTS is dumping and most likely we will dump under 2k soon. The ONLY reasonable price chart is NOTE/USD.
