Title: Bitshares music blockchain
Post by: ghost_of_the_internet on April 07, 2015, 02:12:44 am
Are there any other projects being worked on for the blockchain besides peertracks? If peertracks proves successful do you think we will see more traffic to the blockchain?

Fairly sure its only peertracks at this point since they have to be the ones that develop the initial blockchain.

I know the talk back in the day was to make it so other projects can be built on top of the blockchain.  It will be interesting to see how it plays out and what other projects could potentially do with it.  For example I wonder if other projects will be able to play songs hosted by peertracks.

I'm still curious what other projects people think  that could be built on top of the MUSE blockchain. Beyond PeerTracks what do you guys envision coming from this new blockchain? I'm seeing a lot of great ideas tossed around for what Peertracks could accomplish but I'm wondering what people see this turning into if this project is as successful as it could potentially be.

At this point no one but PeerTracks knows enough about the MUSE chain to start basing any sort of business on it.

That is correct. Our goal is to prove that by using MUSE, all rights holders are paid instantly and automatically. Which reduces the need for a ton of middlemen, including legacy banking.

Once that works for PeerTracks, it won't take long for other to notice and start using MUSE. PeerTracks could even offer to help with setting that up as a service.

+5% I like that vision! Maybe that is the niche (at the moment) that will grow into a new way of doing (blockchain based) business with less need for government interference. The music industry would be a prime example to showcase that. In the end the competitive advantage a blockchain brings are smart contracts (in a broad sense, not necessarily requiring a scripting environment) and automation and the reduction of counterparty risk / middlemen necessities that go along with them.
