Title: PSA - Use Hyperthreading
Post by: FreeTrade on December 23, 2013, 01:13:08 am
For an experiment I tried mining with hyperthreading switched off in the BIOS. I thought it might lead to a performance increase. I couldn't have been more wrong - 40% decrease in HPM.

Make sure you have hyperthreading switched on in the BIOS if you have the option.

Also 5% gain to be had by running extra processes -

On two machines with 8 logical cores, running 32 processes gets me 5% improvement over running 8 processes.

Freetrade,

Have you tested the stability of the thread increase?

My miner crashes more often on Windows Miners with 8 threads on four cores
It also crashes more often when running 6 threads on a six core processor.

In my personal opinion there is nothing better choice to avoid crash,db corruptions and problems then using a workstation without oc and with Ecc memory.
