Title: What is the demographic of the dumpers?
Post by: speedy on April 29, 2015, 01:08:58 pm
Is it Chinese whales?
Is it some delegates who get new BTS so are not selling at a loss?
Is it Adam E? (j/k)
Or is it just that everyone's annoyed by the client? (not me)
Theories?

Me personally I work full time so Ive got no time to speculate & day trade. I dont need the money so I just HODL. Im starting to think Im the only one here.

For crypto to be valuable it needs to be profitable. No other crypto project gets that. For people to dump their BTS before we get to that profitability stage seems to me to be very short sighted.

whales can't sell in this low depth .

The low price is a self-enforced factor that brings dumpers .

Every time the price is lower , it'll reach someone's bottom line and cause them to sell . so on so forth . That's how the bear market works .

Those who won't sell at 50% lost will sell at 70% lost ....

It's just like at the rising trend ....people will buy at 10X the original price for no reason at all .

Of course , I'm assuming there are real seller behind the sells .

I don't know for the current ones, but the dumpers before them are more intelligent than we are...

PS for the current ones I will tell in about 1 month for sure...

I agree hodling onto something that loses 94% of its value does make me feel dumb.

Sorry for your loss. Darwinism can be a bitch.

The good news is a lot of people who still support the project had the foresight to get out of a lot of their position months ago. I'm for example sitting on a lot of dry powder in BTC which I really don't like, when I see BTS getting the package right, I'll be able to buy 3-5x more BTS than I had before even if I miss some of the initial upswing. So there's still a potentially big valuation out there if it can become competitive.

Lol well played.

Not gonna be surprised that some of the devs dumped their coins. After all, they dared to pump the price and then sell for tax purposes a few months ago.

@speedy I understand your feeling.

I bought in a while back, well before the merger and the continuous downtrend we've seen since then, and I haven't sold a single BTS. I said to myself "Hodl through the storm, someday you'll be rewarded". I didn't even edge with bitUSD (yeah yeah, I know, I'm responsible for my own loss).  I paid about 0.03$/BTS, now my stake is worth about 10-12% of the original amount I invested. Unfortunately I don't have any more money to invest, so I can't get my average BTS aquisition cost lower, and it's painful to see all those new comers get in and get 8 to 10X the amount of BTS I received for the same investment.

BTS will need a ~900% increase in value before I can break even. Now I say to myself that I might as well hodl forever. I can't lose much more than I did up to now :P

Let's say that my experience in crypto hasn't been a pleasant ride up to now, I lost half my BTC stash in MtGox. I invested what I had left in PTS/AGS and BTS.

That being said, I'm not particularly enthousiast and willing to invest more money, since I have repeatedly been the bag holder. Hopefully we'll all be lucky some day with BTS!

And by the way, I have been following BTS development and I've seen tremendous improvements on the client, so I do have some hope (and not only cynism).

Same here, but without the Gox experience.

That should be easily verifyable via blockchain .. so If they want to believe it without proof .. let them .. if they show proof, I'll believe too ..
until then .. "pics or it didn't happen"

In the end .. the volume is at btc38 and it is towards CNY ..
and it is only worth $50k .. btw ..

and I still don't care about any bumpers or pumpers ..

However, I would be interesting to know why the DEX price NOTE:BTS hasn't changed:

Because the market is abnormal. There are two reasons IMO

1) High entry barrier against new investors (Not traditional exchange. It's Bitshares DEX)
2) Imperfect information (No CMC info)

This is why we should buy NOTE right now. I personally converted all BTS into NOTE.

I personally converted all BTS into NOTE.

It's one of the best features of the BTS client, the ability to move quickly.

Yep, I pushed all my excess BTS into NOTE and MOONSTONE, both.
