Title: Charles Hoskinson
Post by: kenCode on June 06, 2015, 01:14:54 pm
1. Can someone point me to the reasons why Charles is no longer with Dan and Stan? Is there a story posted on this?
2. What is Charles working on now (he says a "better bitshares")?

He hangs with some pretty prominent guys too (https://twitter.com/IOHK_Charles), it seems a shame to have lost him, I'd like to read the truth about why he left, or got fired or whatever.
Please and thanx :)

Look up his posts and read the threads he participated in if it's possible

Our forum search engine kinda sucks.
I was hoping someone had stuff like this bookmarked, or knows where the story was posted so i could search it from there.

You will get more answers by looking at his career than looking at just the time he courted bitshares. Real reasons you will never see, only the ones he would like you too. As it would be with any courtship gone bad.

I think it's good he is doing his own thing now, and hope he does well and gives us some 'real' competition.

He is a very good orator in this space, which is what gives him the prominence in the media eye.

The better than bitshares commentary though would give you some indication about who is who to watch for in this space and who is aspiring to become better than in his own estimation.

After Monday though.. I think the idea of 'better than bitshares' in context to where we are now, and what will be revealed Monday.. will be like comparing the better horse and buggy he is trying to best to our flying Delorian time machine fueled by freedom.

On a side note.. I am not a big fan of forum discussions about specific people. It provides a platform for bad things to happen and potentially hurt reputations with unfounded remarks from trolls. You might know something that Ken. :)

I'm looking at it from an investment perspective. Why not invest some time (and maybe some money) into both.
I was going to invest in Corona too until all their mess just came out.
I am invested in Crypti as well, a very good looking bunch.

Also, if Charles Hoskinson is truly designing something that's "better than bitshares", man I need to know what it is...

Hoskinson attaches himself to people like Dan and Vatalik because he needs their innovation.  He is an expert at blowing smoke and sales and networking.

He is like steroids, impressive growth but ultimately harmful to those around him.

That's what I've been wondering, sittingduck. Is his "better bitshares" proposal for real?

Here's the two links that got me to ask. If he's working on something "better", I might want to invest in both companies 8)

This space is filled with many that prey on this idea. The only difference is here you don't have centralized companies so much to sue over stock manipulation by such statements.. say Samsung started announcing their coming out with a phone 'better than iphone' .. watch the stock markets go crazy and watch the lawsuits fly. :)

Most industries stick to just what their product offers and don't peg themselves to what others are doing unless that is what their entire product revolves around.. perhaps thats a hint.

Companies that play second fiddle to the ones that do the innovation are not worth investing in my estimation.. they have been founded on someone elses innovation and thus are unlikely to come up with much of their own. What you end up with is a product that is just a BORG cube of parts from everyone else making claims of "resistance is futile".

Then Monday comes.. and a Transphasic Torpedo created by the innovators comes out and destroys all those BORG cubes. :)

If there is any investing to be done.. I would seriously wait until Monday. I want to be on the star ship Voyageur on her way home.. not these guys above. :)

I have scoured  every single account where I have some stray BTC or something else laying around in ANY amount and have converted it to BTS. I am not recommending anybody do the same, just telling you what I am doing. Though I am not one to say "Do as I say not as I do". :)

My portfolio is diverse however, so please stick to the facts here. Putting all your eggs in one basket is rarely a good idea.

It doesn't hurt to support Charles if he is doing something positive for the space as well.

CH was part of I3 at the beginning - his name is on the original BitAsset whitepaper, at some point there was friction between him and some of the other partners about the direction they were going, he signed a non-disclosure agreement when he left I3 so no one really knows. He came back to the forum here several months ago after he left Ethereum and talked often, with some people wanting him to become a delegate and promote business partnerships, then one day he deleted his forum account and was gone.

He's just another guy with ideas and some math behind him but is lazy or lacks dev skills to make it happen. If it's not based on his ideals he walks.. Im sure nothing will be 100% based on his thoughts on how bts transformed..

He wasnt saying that here when his forum account was still active. I used to think he tries to be constructive, now I just think he likes to make noise. BitShares works at what it was intended to do, as anyone can clearly see if they look at the block explorer.

Thanx guys.
I just dug this up too:

i3nikolai
vitalik said "it was a complicated situation internally"... reminiscent of when he was asked to leave bitshares team. Not something to be unhappy about.

kevday
Seeing how they are about to take massive amounts of our money, it may be worth giving us a bit more to go on than "it's complicated". A bit more transparency is desired here.
