Title: 1200 PTS - New Invictus Website Ready to Deploy [CLOSED]
Post by: bytemaster on December 29, 2013, 05:31:14 am
Updating the Invictus website has been a time intensive process where we have had a very hard time getting everything from logos, to look and feel, to content addressed.  It is our single biggest embarrassment right now and we want it resolved as quickly has humanly possible to the highest degree of quality possible.  Super3 has been given the task of managing our website, but his time and skill set is only part of what is needed.   I have asked Super3 to perform emergency updates, but we need something far better than we have right now and as soon as possible.   I know there are many skilled developers, artists, writers, etc that are just waiting for an opportunity to get involved and earn some PTS.

This bounty is for a complete solution and will probably require a team of people to self-organize and divide up tasks.  $24,000 worth of PTS aught to be enough to motivate that kind of behavior as there is plenty to go around.   It also indicates our intent for the website to be very high quality, with a solid message, integrated feel, etc.    This is our public face and getting this done right should cause a nice BUMP in PTS price and thus make more money available to fund other development.

I would like to propose some concepts....   Invictus Innovations builds decentralized businesses and applications.  Almost every one of our products has some kind of business model, stock, or pricing mechanism.  Our website should be selling the value proposition of what we are doing as the first impression people get.  They need to quickly grasp some high level concepts and only a small subset of users cares to dig deeper and read walls of text that and philosophy that we have today.

Given this model, I would like our website to display each of our core products with a company summary like you get when you visit etrade/etc.   Everything "investors" would want to know to decide whether or not to get involved.  I use APPL as an example, but replace APPL with each of our different DACs and you have a consistent them/structure on which to hang information in ready to access predictable locations.

An example of the kind of summary that could go on the BitShares page:

Quote
BitShares is a revolutionary new bank and exchange that could rival the value of the largest banks in the world such as JP Morgan and Bank of America in just a few years. How could this new upstart grow so quickly? BitShares offers a bank account that earns 5% interest where funds can be transferred in minutes anywhere in the world with more privacy and security than a Swiss bank account.  Your account can never be frozen, your funds cannot be seized, and the bank can never face collapse due to loan defaults or fraud.  All of this is made possible without requiring any employees, lawyers, regulatory compliance, vaults, buildings, and other infrastructure required by traditional banks.  Unlike existing banks, you can hold your balance denominated in gold, silver, oil, or other commodities in additional to national currencies while earning 5% interest.

In addition to acting as a bank, BitShares also serves as an exchange where currencies, commodities, and stock derivatives can be traded with most of the features used by professional traders including shorts and options.   The Bank takes a cut on every transaction and pays 100% of these transaction fees as dividends to the shareholders.  BitShares can achieve this feat using the same technology that makes Bitcoin possible, irrevokable decentralized automated consensus forming.

For a quick comparison of BitShares to Bitcoin you can view Bitcoin as stock in a company that earns no profits, pays 100% of its revenue to security guards, and then debases shareholders by 12% per year to fund security. Despite the inefficiencies and costs, Bitcoin has grown to be worth over $12 billion dollars in less than 5 years.   How much more valuable would Bitcoin be if it could turn a profit while offering far more powerful services?    The value of owning shares in this new Bank will exceed two times the value of all balances of in gold, silver, oil, and currency accounts.  If the largest banks can achieve deposits of over $1 trillion dollars with no meaningful interest, how many deposits could BitShares attract and what would that mean for the value of the bank?

If you would like to get in on the ground floor of such a revolutionary decentralized business you can get involved by contributing your time, money, and services as part of the growing movement at http://bitsharestalk.org

Now that you have some of my ideas I would like give some basic guidance and requirements:

1) Static Content or Basic PHP to manage headers/footers/language translation is preferred to systems dependent upon databases.  The site should load quickly and the content should be easily updated and versioned with github.  To test/deploy the site should be as simple as a git pull into the document root of a PHP enabled server.

2) Multiple Language Support - Chinese + English minimum, but the more languages supported the better

3) Stock Charts and price quotes may be the only dynamic content

4) Everything is up for change including logos for all products and the company itself.  We like the Invictus Horse, but do not want to put constraints on the creativity of the market.

5) Despite being a single bounty, we will require all development to be done in public and announced in this thread.  We want people copying ideas from each other and discussing which idea is best.  Before we award the bounty everyone who contributed some of the content whether graphics, translations, CSS, PHP, that is incorporated into the final site must agree to the division of the bounty.  This means that anyone can propose a single paragraph of text and should encourage all competing teams to use their text in exchange for a reasonable fee if they win.

6) When someone produces a complete website which we find acceptable, we will make an announcement that all other entries must be submitted announced within 24 hours and submitted within 1 week.   At that time we will pick the best overall submission and award the bounty there.

7) Any questions regarding what we like or the content should be posted here.  We will not answer questions privately.

8) Work must be done publicly, complete submissions that appear out of nowhere are not eligible for the bounty and others may freely copy their ideas without having to negotiate a fee.   If you want to protect your right to get paid for your contributions, you must share them early and often.

9) I suggest one or more team leaders take responsibility for organizing volunteers, working together effectively is the fastest way to win the bounty before other teams can get organized.

10) Proposed sites must be publicly deployed where everyone can evaluate them.

I have been trying to come up with analogies to help explain what I am looking for from the market with these bounties.  The closest analogy I can come up with is this:

1) I am a customer looking to buy an "off the shelf, ready to use solution"
2) I have a budget that I am willing to spend when I see what I want
3) I will be making a purchase
4) I do not buy stolen goods
5) Time is valuable to me so I will make the best purchase I can as soon as I can.

Other than that it is up to the market to win my business.... I set the price high because I am just one customer looking to buy one product and asking the developers to build products on speculation that I might buy from them.  Speculation involves risk and thus increased price.

With this philosophy the free market should organize to produce what I am looking to buy in an entirely decentralized development process.  This is all an experiment, but one I hope will work well.  If you are considering joining the effort and have some skills to contribute in speculation then please post.  If you are concerned about risk I suggest you partner with someone willing to take the financial risk and gain your skills.   I would like to establish a guide to help people get involved in decentralized development.  This bounty will help us learn how to cooperate and I suspect we can make history if we can perfect this development model.

You all are truly a wonderful group and I look forward to seeing what we produce.

I choose when and what to buy, this bounty does not constitute a contract or a fixed set of requirements.  When I see the first 'off-the-shelf' website I will buy it.

[UPDATE] I am sad to say that I'm withdrawing from the competition.  :( I will leave these links up, if anyone wants to use them. I will shut them down after the bounty has been completed. Thanks  8)

Right now the bounty rules are under development so work at your own risk... when we switch status to ACTIVE we will commit to the final rules.   That said what I am thinking of doing is as follows:

1) First person to complete an acceptable website, namely one that I would consider worthy of a payout sets the deadline for all competitors to complete their take.

2) Once the deadline is reached I will pick the best of the available alternatives.

Theory of operation, two teams that complete within 1 week of each other is a statistical tie in my book and the bounty should be awarded to the best site.   However, a team that is able to get more than 1 week ahead of the competition is likely to win by default.   Speed is of the essence if you want to minimize competition.   Cooperation is the key to speed.

I believe that for all bounties participants should be able to request sub-bounties and/or direct expense funds.

For example, a new and professional angelshares logo is needed. It will be necessary for the completion of any website bounty entry, but falls outside of the scope of the original bounty. Furthermore it will be used in many publications and writings outside of the website, and all bounty participants will require the use of it.

Sub-bounties should be simply be proposed in the original bounty topic. There they will be approved or rejected by Invictus, usually based on input from the original bounty participants. I'll propose a sub-bounty for the angelshares logo in my next post.

I want all logos to be flexible if it helps build a unified brand.

Once we have site wide branding figured out we can do bounties for new logos that conform to the site theme.  I think it is too early.

All content is up for grabs.

I suggest contestants offer their own conditional sub bounties if they think it will help.  I also suggest graphic artists propose icons with a fee for using them as part of a complete solution.

Micro bounties create more overhead.

Will respond to that in a second. Could you post a transparent version of the Bitshares logo then?

Also need a contact email, and perhaps phone number for Invictus.

Bytemaster, you want something that tracks the price of PTS and AGS, like the charts on coinplorer.com?

************************
Is there anyone out there who can handle this? I need to know how many PTS this will cost.

Does this mean you don't want a web application. No javascript. No Bootstrap. Do you want a fixed width site with just html and css?

He means that it should be simple as possible. Javascript and Bootstrap is fine, just shouldn't probably rely on a database.

The sub-bounties are all conditional on it being the winning design. Will be paid in PTS, just giving approximates for now. I could possible cover sub-bounties in the future, but don't want to start paying out now while this is still "pending."

We have our first artist signed onto trello! I think the logos are the most important part of the site. I'm hoping we see artists submit sets for all the logos: Keyhotee, AngelShares, BitShares, DomainShares, maybe another ProtoShare logo for good measure, and of course an Invictus Innovations Inc. logo. :)

Guys just a quick point, i dont have a technical background so i'm not sure if this will be possiblt within the initial spec but I noticed on opening the protoshares website on my ipad that the width wasnt customised for ipad viewing so the page opened with missing borders on either side. Could this be addressed for the Invictus website?

Hi bytemaster,

I've got my own web development company and would like to participate in the bounty.

Do I understand this correctly that http://invictus.io/ is the actual design you guys want by submitting to the github bounties? Or can we submit a completely new design?

I've got 5 developers waiting for your answer.

There seems to be a lot of scrolling on the invictus.io current template. Would be nicer to have the info displayed more simply I less scrolling and more clicking where necessary.

Hello,

You can submit a completely new design, I believe. As it says, it looks like he's looking for a clean, professional site.

I haven't seen any deadlines yet? It would be nice to know how we can allocate our time and budget.

Deadline is 1 week after first acceptable submission and we pick the best.

Complete redesigns are allowed.

We will provide continuous feedback on what we like and also factor in feedback from community.

Please understand that we are experimenting with this bounty process and are trying to make it compelling for everyone involved.

In the interest of moving this out of pending you can submit a detailed statement of what you are planning and how you expect us to respond.

Once everyone is ok with the rules And requirements i will move it to active.

I just want to avoid any misunderstanding with a $24k budget.

As for objective we will require one person to "own" a submission and provide us with the detailed breakdown of who gets paid what.

We will be the judge of what constitutes blatant copy vs just inspiration.  If anyone has an objection to your allocation we will hold off payment until we can make a determination on whether or not content was stollen without agreement.

Generally speaking we expect real life development costs to be around 12k and the extra 12k is the risk bonus to account for the competitive  nature and is our way to reserve the right to demand quality.  Bottom line this is supposed to be very profitable  for participants.

To reduce risk I suggest producing content that is 'sold' to many competing teams.

One person can submit multiple alternatives.

The winning site will be deployed as is.  So this is the objective criteria by which someone can prove we owe the bounty.

JavaScript is fine. No database. Maintainability is a factor.  A submission that comes bundled with a support agreement will be rated higher than one just dumped.

This is my stream of consiousness feedback on Super3's submission:

1) I think the flashy background graphics are too much.
2) I think the DAC jargon is too much to be displayed everywhere
3) Decentralized Funding Model -> Equal Opportunity / Etc
4) I like focusing on transparency
5) I don't like mentioning hard numbers for capital, those change all the time and should be implied by looking at our bounties.
6) I do not want memory coin to be mentioned anywhere but a list of other 3rd party DACs that honor protoshares, in other words it should be a footnote in the protoshares subsection and not linked all over our site.  No offense to FreeTrade, but his coin did not honor the 10% required to get our official backing and promotion and we want to encourage 10% honoring in future DACs even by 3rd parties.
7) Research Driven... is heading in the right direction, but perhaps Innovation Driven... and lets focus on our core innovations:
     a) DAC Metaphor (blockchains as a business model)
     b) Dividends
     c) Transactions as Proof of Stake
     d) Debunking Mining as a means of Decentralization
     e) Momentum Proof of Work -> Deprecated by above
     f) Innovative community building (ProtoShares + Social Contract)

I'm still waiting for the subject to change to ACTIVE. Then I will post this bounty on every forum in the world. *Evil Grin*

In all seriousness, I think the New Year holiday is interfering with this bounty. We need more people to help. Maybe you should wait to change the status until after the new year.

I just changed the status to ACTIVE based upon the revised social contract I posted in the body.  Namely, I have reserved the right to buy when I see what I am looking for.  The only thing you need to know is that I need a website, that it is urgent, and therefore I will be paying SOMEONE as soon as I see something that fits what I am looking for.

Very good!
IMHO the only thing FreeTrade did right is being the first to create/release a PTS honoring DAC. While others are still talking, he just did it. Just for everybody to see and experience what it feels like having PTS and getting something for them. Which is a good thing.
(Just to be complete: what he did wrong is 1. creating a simple, unnecessary "pump & dump" coin and 2. honoring PTS with a very low amounts of that coin. Seems (feels) more like an attempt to promote his coin than to support PTS/DACs.)

Taulant here, I think whoever wins should award a competitive amount to the copy writer and translator. For webdev that's always the most difficult part.

My team will put the designs up asap.

Good luck to everybody!

7) Research Driven... is heading in the right direction, but perhaps Innovation Driven... and lets focus on our core innovations:
     a) DAC Metaphor (blockchains as a business model)
     b) Dividends
     c) Transactions as Proof of Stake
     d) Debunking Mining as a means of Decentralization
     e) Momentum Proof of Work -> Deprecated by above
     f) Innovative community building (ProtoShares + Social Contract)
     g) Innovative funding model, money as proof of work -> Angel Shares

8) Invictus Engineers market forces to produce outcomes without the need for contracts or violence.

9) I don't want to make our website about "Invictus the Company", but instead "Invictus the Movement", we are nothing without the community, the angels, and the philosophy.  Lets focus on what WE are as a community and NOT what Invictus is doing as a company.

10) Invictus profits the same way everyone else does, buy owning a piece of DACs on the same equal opportunity terms we make available to everyone else.

1) Roger. Github issue here: https://github.com/super3/Invictus/issues/10
2) Ok. I'll trim it down. Github issue here: https://github.com/super3/Invictus/issues/15
3) My changes should fix this.
4) Is what I have good or should I add more?
5) Removed, and link to bounites

6) Users need to understand that there are benefits to holding Protoshares right now. If remove Memorycoin then we don't show the worth of Protoshares other than its trade value. I suggest we keep Memorycoin until we have a working DAC or product, so we don't look like vaporware. Now listed as 3rd part coin, and disclaimer added.
7) Added some of these. How should I go about this?
8) Quoted you on it
9) See the new bottom portion
10) How should this be addressed?
Title: Re: 1200 PTS - New Invictus Website Ready to Deploy [ACTIVE]

More stream of consciousness feedback...

1) The fonts are too light and thin and lack sufficient contract which makes it hard to read (Angel Shares Page)
2) AngelShares page could really use better copy
3) Angel's fund the development of the industry, PTS enables speculation, trading, and pricing
4) I think it would be very good to reference The Social Consensus Software License (SCSL) as the means of protecting AGS / PTS holders.
5) I think we should make it very clear that aside from #4 we cannot prevent others from copying the code or ideas

6) I do not like the menu navigation system.  Such systems are not pleasant on touch screens in my experience.
7) I find the jump from Community to this forum to be unexpected.
8) Instead of focusing on FUNDING lets focus on opportunity to PARTICIPATE and GET INVOLVED.

Anyone else want to offer feedback?

I am going to write a protoshares summary. Let me know what you think is important about protoshares that should be in the summary or any thoughts that might lead us to write a catching summary. I will think about this myself and greatly appreciate your input.

Also, I think images about protoshares, graphical depictions explaining some technicalities, or other artwork will greatly enhance the pleasure of consuming a summary. This also holds true for all the other summaries.

FYI: I like the Hallo over the A... as a Angel Shares icon... I think Super3's submission had that first...
The horse in the center looks weak and is missing the unconquered rider...
MemoryCoin should not be linked to Invictus or appear anywhere on our main page.
I like the graph / interconnected nature of the background.
If the graph could link the different concepts in a more meaningful way and include BitShares!  BitShares should be front and center as the value proposition as AGS and PTS are just ways to get there.  People come for BTS and discover AGS and PTS are what is available now.  BTS is the killer app.

Thanks for the info yes the header was just a quick mock up, the angel shares icon it wasnt intended as a copy or rethink of the logo just including it to interpret the general idea of interconnecting nodes I didn't mean it to look like I was stealing anyone's work.  I realise the connections don't represent the correct dialog so that needs work it was just a rough idea.

I must admit to not being so clear on the interrelation of All the separate elements.

AGS + PTS => Fund BTS, and others
Keyhotee => Wallet / ID / Communication integrate it all.

I would like BitShares to be the focus, the thing that is sold.  Once people are sold on the power of BitShares then they are ready to learn about AGS and PTS.

Had a quick chat with Bytemaster. Translations can be done after submission. This should make things a little easier for all of us.

"The only thing required is a design that is readily translatable"
"A submission should indicate what is involved with adding additional translations"

Not that I'm turning down any bounties  :o byte master says they are ok should more versions be submitted first before delivering any .png's, my initial thoughts are -

inviticus logo - the horse/rider looks kind of bolted on to the end of the text
bitshares logo - maybe needs a more "serious" font
Angel shares logo - bounty would go to the originator as I've basically taken what existed and added text to it.

I was trying to organize things to prevent the clutter. But you should do whatever will get you maximum exposure. I'd do both. Then you can also put a link to your work in the trello page. There are other teams watching it for talent.

If this is still active I'm referring a friend of mine who works at a web dev company to this thread, maybe his company can even pick you guys up as a client if they're interested in Protoshares rather than cash,

Just an idea: How about a chat function as well, both for community and live support? A not so good example is the Feathercoin chat (http://forum.feathercoin.com/chatbox.php).

A model of efficient community communication would arguably place forum between wiki and chat in a united whole, in order of time frequency, to best leverage communication on all time scales.

Sorry for the late post but I was busy with another project so I couldn't get this done earlier.

This is the current, initial draft of the website's concept. I ask for open collaboration and if you have any questions, just shoot me a private message or comment on the paper. This is a work in progress and I'm working on giving it more detail as we speak.

I'll try and get a blueprint done when I find the time.

I just wanted to mention that if anyone wants to use the Protoshares price widget or price trend chart I created for Super3, let me know.  It can be seen here: http://invictus.io/funding-protoshares.php

This is, of course, assuming that it is proper for me to offer that work to another team???  I'm not quite sure whether the open/collaborative development assigns "rights" once a sub-bounty is delivered, but if someone else wants that logic it seems silly to write it from scratch.

I really like Cass's logo design.

Invictus.io is looking great, my only gripe is that the first image under "What is a DAC?" does not really seem to fit the site, at least to me.

Hello bytemaster,

This is our first homepage design proposal http://i.imgur.com/F0BkXY5.jpg

We are bitsapphire.com (http://bitsapphire.com), a group of web developers and designer specializing in potentially highly disruptive and high-value startups who want to change the world. I think Invictus would be the perfect fit for us if we win this bounty.

Below are our comments and questions based on your forum posts in this and other threads:

All logos are only placeholders!

Our proposal lacks 1 crucial component (as do the competing designs so far). You haven’t made clear what the CONVERSION GOAL of the site is. Do you want people to sign up to download an application, sign up to a mailing-list, or is this just an information portal? WIthout a conversion goal the site cannot be complete.

We believe that at this point in time INFORMING as many people as possible should be the main goal. To achieve this and have an even bigger kickstart of all DACs you need a mailing list. In this design we’ve put the signup at the bottom because it is only a general information portal. However, if long-term email signup is the main goal then we need to do slight modifications.

Identified user groups are:
1) General public
2) Crypto and tech enthusiast looking for the next “app”
3) Finance person (investor, supporter, or decision maker)
4) Media (they generally make up their mind in 10 seconds or less and they can be important for growth)

We have not done any logos except one for Invictus Innovations, however, we liked one proposal here a lot and would like to work with other designers on the logos. We will post sub-bounties which are competitive with our competition’s sub-bounties. The final short-form logo will be used on the left side of the navigation menu.

We are no content writers, nor do we intend to be. We will do sub-bounties for the content too.

We are open to working with any of the designers or content writers from the other teams. Your work will be rewarded proportionally if our team succeeds.

Considering that you plan on doing marketing, conferences, etc, you will absolutely need a coherent brand. Doing that exclusively through bounties will be very difficult if not impossible. To make the site design more coherent with any other branding material in the future, we propose to make a brandbook for Invictus Innovations. This would include very specific pixel-perfect web and offline design choices as well has a highly color coded sub brands. Essentially every DAC is a sub-brand and can very beautifully be color coded, in which case we can do some color coding tricks on the homepage too.
We would be interested to work on your brandbook and general branding after, and if we win this bounty.

We are all looking forward to your feedback so that we can move on with your design feedback and do the slicing of the website to give everyone a better idea of our vision.

Best,
Itnom/Taulant

3) Finance person (investor, supporter, or decision maker)
4) Media (they generally make up their mind in 10 seconds or less and they can be important for growth)
  • We used very light pastel colors, clean spacing, calming photos (IP is OK), and an overall feel which should make people feel “at home” and secure.
  • We are shooting for this warm but nonetheless professional and technical feeling because the crypto sphere is overloaded with scams, the “I have an app too! here look at me!”-startup ADHD-like design disorder, and because we think Invictus should become the Apple of crypto and finance.
  • Our goal is a clean Apple-like design with a community twist, essentially making crypto and Open Source sexy for the user, engaging for the community, and highly interesting to a potential investor/supporter. We believe that this design entails all of these components.
  • JS is kept to a minimum and is only used for functionally important tasks.
  • The navigation bar is fixed. We believe this is the best solution to include as many communities within the brand as possible. Newbies will scroll down and look see what BitShares etc are all about, and then decide to read more about other things on the site. Returning visitors know what they are looking for and click through. People interested in the graph (like the coinbase enthusiasts) will directly interact with the price on the graph (clicking on it reveals the price graph very similar to bitcoins.com). The fixed bar also makes it possible for us to make the site longer once enough DACs are online.
  • The price ticker can be dynamic client-side.
  • Clicking on the price gets you the graph sliding in from above similar to bitcoins.com. We believe that this is the only way to integrate hard economic data into the homepage without breaking the user experience for the other non-finance user groups.
  • The flag icons for the language switch are also flat. No Skeuomorphism will be used for Invictus, only icons and flat illustrations.
  • Initial Language should be determined by IP. Only alternative language flags should be shown. We need to see how we can do this without a real CMS as you asked.
  • Hovering over “Research Driven”, “Transparent”, and “Venture Backed” toggles the fade-in 1 sentence description. Clicking on any of the buttons gets you to a subtitle on 1 page entailing the philosophy, mission, and vision of Invictus. These are the 3 key points also outlined on protoshares.net
  • All text and Icons/logos below the 1st fold fade in while scrolling down. This supports the calming effect. The fade-in will be relatively fast though.

We have not done any logos except one for Invictus Innovations, however, we liked one proposal here a lot and would like to work with other designers on the logos. Thank you for this solid entry.  Here are some general feedback...  all designs so far have had the same common long scrolling home page and I am not sure how I feel about it.

As far as the conversion goal:  we would like people to get involved with their time, money, and support.  We want to build the community.  To do that there are currently 5 subgoals:
     1) Fund the AngelAddress
     2) Download ProtoShares
     3) Download Keyhotee
     4) Sign up to mailing list and forum.
     5) Participate in bounties and referring people to the bounties.

That is a fairly big list of goals.     I do want to have a solid unified branding and welcome efforts to help in that department.

Can you host this publicly somewhere so I can experience it other than a screenshot?

Rather than Venture Backed, I like Community Backed.

Keep up the good work I am looking forward to seeing it all come together.

To address all subgoals on the frontpage:

You should not be concerned about scrolling though, due to social media people are more than used to scrolling nowadays.

Because this is still only a bounty and no contract our team members are working on this after working hours (and it's an official holiday in our country until the 9th of January). We'll give you one more static redesign in the forum before moving on to slicing the site.

I just want you to keep in mind that because this is only a bounty we won't be able to allocate our time to this project as strictly as we would with a contracting and regularly paying customer. We hope that you will like our second design and the hosted homepage so that we can allocate more time to Invictus.

Btw, I wasn't this excited since I first read about Bitcoin! Good luck!

To address all subgoals on the frontpage:
  • The conversion goal needs to be email signups
  • If you really want to add visual incentives to downloading or funding then the design will most definitely become even longer (more scrolling). We would need to give every DAC its own horizontal fold to accomodate more content. You can't get people to an action ("download", "fund", "sign up") without more content for each DAC. That is not bad though

You should not be concerned about scrolling though, due to social media people are more than used to scrolling nowadays.

I agree, there needs to be more content on each DAC.   I appreciate the effort your developers are putting in.

The site needs to be modular enough so that I can expand it to 5-6 DACs without having a major redesign of layout.

One more question bytemaster.

According to one of the threads in the forum Super3 is somehow already involved with Invictus Innovations. Considering that he is also competing for this bounty I would like ta ask whether both teams are on equal footing. We feel that this might not have been stressed enough in this thread.

If it pleases the community I would like to formally submit http://invictus.io (http://invictus.io).

Current Screenshot:
(http://i.imgur.com/ujrxQEu.png) (http://invictus.io)

Requirement #1
Full source code to Invictus.io is hosted on Github (https://github.com/super3/invictus). Invictus already has full access. Users may submit new code by issuing a pull request (https://github.com/super3/invictus/pulls). Web server is automatically updated 10 minutes from the repository.

Requirement #2
Chinese language support will be added immediately after Invictus has signed off on the current content. I expect this to take 1-3 days after approval. Already have several interested parties.

Requirement #3
The Protoshares page (http://invictus.io/funding-protoshares.php) has live charts. We will add whatever widgets http://angelshares.info/beta/ (http://angelshares.info/beta/) comes up with.

Sub-Bounties (As I see them)
Angelshares Logo / 10 PTS(~$200) / zwaffell (https://github.com/super3/Invictus/issues/4) / PTS Address needed
Angelshares Logo Referral + Being Helpful / 5 PTS(~$100) / cassiopaia (https://github.com/super3/Invictus/issues/4) / PTS Address needed
Protoshares Live Widget / 40 PTS(~$800) / pooleja (https://github.com/super3/Invictus/issues/3) / PTS Address needed

Good Advice / 5 PTS(~$100) / itnom (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=1742.75) / PTS Address needed

Open-Bounties
I am offering bounties for the continued development of Invictus.io (http://Invictus.io). These are honored when a pull request is accepted into the repository.
New Custom Template / See Github Issue (https://github.com/super3/Invictus/issues/12) / 75 PTS(~$1500)
Chinese Translation / See Github Issue (https://github.com/super3/Invictus/issues/2) / 40 PTS(~$800)

Support
As there will always be a need for improvements and changes I am bringing on one of my web developers to help out. He will commit 20 billable hours the website at my expense starting tomorrow. He did a great job helping me with the Peercoin.net (http://peercoin.net), so I'm glad to bring him to our community. Ultimately what he changes and fixes is up the community so please guide him by adding issues: https://github.com/super3/invictus/issues?state=open.

Hey super3, time for the feedback:

1) Never use the work Corporation with DACs... use Company instead for legal reasons.
2) What is a DAC? page should not use our 1990ish graphics ;)
3) List of Official Invictus Innovation DACs should not inlcude Memory Coin
4) I don't like the "Funding" vocabulary and it misses the synergy between AGS and PTS by having them on separate menu items.
5) Coins, Software, and DACs menu just seems way too many disjoint ideas in one menu... we don't do coins!
6) Still way too much MMC all over the site.   Design the site without MMC and then we will add a SINGLE link to it in the right spot.
7) No News site
8) No explanation AT ALL about BitShares... sorry but BitShares is our #1 draw and why people are buying PTS / AGS.
9) Not extensible to adding new DACs... no DAC summary page with 'statistics' like I outlined in my example.
10) Don't mention my mining pool, it isn't operational anymore.

It is pretty, certainly better than our current site when it comes to first impressions, but far from complete.

Isn't it better for you to have 'backend' access so you can word it as you wish.  When we make sites for our clients, we word it anyway and later simply give ui and pass for our clients to insert what they want?

Isn't it better for you to have 'backend' access so you can word it as you wish.  When we make sites for our clients, we word it anyway and later simply give ui and pass for our clients to insert what they want?

The problem with the site right now is structural and the items I pointed out are examples of the types of things that bug me.  Certainly, ease of translation would imply that it is easy to change some text here and there, but the more fundamental problem is the organization and navigation of the site.   If it were just a few edits to the wording I would have accepted it and then given him the wording, but overall it fails to even capture the primary reason for Angel Shares and PTS... BitShares.   Almost every concept I introduced in the OP was lost in version of the site.

Here's some inspiration for Angel Shares , it's not a site nor a logo but I was bored for a sec. I feel the current submissions are too much like any other gadget/app/kickstarter site nowadays. They look good however and probably work well for visitors but I'd say just go crazy and outside the box and create a new user experience instead of reflecting it. This all is a whole new concept and a new way of thinking and I think it's site should be just that as well. Just my 2 cts.

To be direct, except for cassiopaia’s design no other logos seem to be good enough. I’m going to refer a logo designer to this thread soon. Let’s hope something better will come up.

I’ll post the usable homepage ASAP.

[/quote]

I would be very excited to see a collaberation between Cassiopaia and Itnom. Cass's logo work it amazing. So iconic yet minimilist. I can see the i3 symbol/tag being synonymous with cryptocurrency technology DACS in much the same way the apple logo is identifiable with quality IT products.

One point however raised previously and a concern reiterated by bytemaster is the reliance on scrolling on all submissions so far. This needs to be stopped and a browsing style focusing on clicking used instead. I am using an ipad and ipad mini with easy touch scrolling and am still of the opinon that content is lost by scrolling.

Keep up the good work..

Quick question though, what does the I3 actually stand for?
interestingly I3.com is already registered, have a look... otherwise imagine i3.com as the go to DACS website... could it be changed to I2 I4 or other... whats the significance of the 3?

Number 1,

I3 stands for Invictus Innovations Incorporated if I am not mistaken.

Regarding your and butbro's comment, if the issue is simple scrolling due to a greater use of tablets of the target demographic then the web strategy would need to change.

As far as I have read so far, the main software component holding the DACs together will be Keyhotee and of course the individual blockchains.

Neither the blockchains nor Keyhotee are intended as mobile-first, but rather desktop-first. If we take this into consideration then we can conclude that the conversion goal cannot be the same for the desktop version and the mobile version of the site, simply because immediate usecases are different.

Bytemaster, I believe that through this thread we may have come across a very important issue. To make the correct design choices we need to know the User Stories for both the desktop and the mobile user.

I'll come back to this asap with a framework showing how we would approach the issue.

Hello bytemaster,

This is our current mockup http://bitsapphire.com/invictus/prev/, and the multi-divise presentation http://i.imgur.com/33vUDrg.png.

We’ve started with the slicing. Once we got the homepage you’ll be able to get the feel of it.

Some key points I’d like to address:
  • The first fold is very clean but nonetheless uses JS to do a more dynamic presentation of the signup form.
  • We’re going for email signups as the main conversion goal of the site’s design. Everything dynamic is tailored to that. You’ll be able to fully understand the transition effects with the first live presentation asap.
  • We believe that this design is sufficiently extensible. You can add as many additional horizontal folds (e.g. the bitshares fold) as you’d like, though the current design is optimal for this amount of content. Integrating all logos into the hexagons also creates a more coherent feel and makes it possible for you to add have odd numbers of DACs listed as well. You could add a 6th component within the hexagon structure in the lower middle of the current design without breaking the overall feel.
  • The last fold (the second signup request) only loads as a last reminder if the person visiting the site hasn’t already signed up. If already signed up then a request to join the forum appears. This is all part of the conversion function to lead the visitor into the community.

Other comments:
To be direct, except for cassiopaia’s design no other logos seem to be good enough. I’m going to refer a logo designer to this thread soon. Let’s hope something better will come up.

I’ll post the usable homepage ASAP.

I like the direction you are going with your work.  Keep it up.

Email signup is a good first step. But I believe support via phone and live chat are crucial for the average user. We are also selling a product; live support can use sales rhetoric to convince.

Lurking on forums is something only a native with tens of thousands of posts in their life can love.

Hello bytemaster and community!

Holidays here are done and we’ve been working on our design and initial slicing.

This is the preliminary work http://bitsapphire.com/invictus/prev/

We’ve changed some things based on the communities feedback. The design is still clean, but now creates a feeling of “a new beginning” (all IP is OK).

We’re concentrating on the previously determined core function of the site, namely the conversion of visitors to signed up potential users. For that reason we’re experimenting with different ways to get the visitors attention to the signup form without breaking the clean design. The UX of the signup form is still not finished but it’s on the right track.
We will add:

Other elements to do:

We believe that this design is extensible enough for most information displays that we could think of.
All in all the design is in the “Apple for the crypto community” camp.

We’re looking forward to everybody’s feedback!

I like the transparent front page. I also like the colors, until the end, where they look awkwardly shifted?

I think angleshares and protoshares can be lumped under  ~"invest now."
And Domainshares can go under Bitshares.
That leaves "Bitshares," "Keyhotee," and "Invest now!"

How about a scrolling front pad like IBM.com has?
Learning about these things should be fun and exciting.
There could be three pads, with each of the above with
a great logo, a heading, short sentence(s) and learn more.
The email signup can be placed below this or after.

I also think (all of) the design(s) lack engagement. A buzz and excitement
that something is happening. Suggestions:

Youtube/facebook/twitter links along with forum and wiki and search,
like top right here http://pirateparty.org.au/

Alert-like space for "now hiring " (bounties) or important deadlines and news.
And I also think a chat is a good idea but it might be too much ;)

Basically things that make the front page seem more exciting and alive,
where you feel the buzz and just want to join in on the party or revolution! :)

I guess this vision is totally different from most designs so far. It would be
a lot less stylish and more cluttered with all this stuff. Thoughts?

What about a new kind of approach, at least for the homepage I think visitors should be triggered, even of they don;t know what it's about they should feel to have the opportunity to be part of something new, I suggest make the homepage as easy and inviting as possible without any technical terms, just our values, spare explanations aboutDAC's, Bitshares, Keyhotee for the sub pages.

A quick mock up of what I mean

This has potential.

So the Invictus site starts with the movement while a BitShares site introduces a cross-tradable product line and other sites hit the visitor with just the business interface of each of the individual DACs?

So each site focuses on the interests and needs of a particular type of visitor rather than hitting everybody with every idea in parallel?

If you are coming to the Invictus site, you are interested in the problems we are addressing and the underpinning solutions we are pursuing.

If you are at the BitShares site, you are interested in investing, speculating and trading crypto-equities or at least learning all about the value propositions of the variety we sponsor.

If you are at the Lucky Robot Casino site, you just want to play bingo and don't care that it is run by BitShares, LKS?

Cross links tie them all together near the bottom.

plus a short explanation at the bottom or a link that directs you to a place where it is explained how everything is linked together. To make the user see that everything is transparent and that the different sites are there to simplify the explanation and not there to disguise something by making it difficult to see how everything is linked

So does this bounty include the wording for the website (respectively for all the websites) as well? And the team would have to organize the texting as well as the web design? And the bounty is given as a whole to the person or team that delivers a website with text that is ready to be released? And then the team has to arrange itself how the bounty is split up? Or is it just the graphic design and the structure of the website (and its sub-sites)?

The bounty is for the complete website which can be 'copy/ pasted' to the webserver and start going. If you have a team you have to split the bounty with your team members in the way you think is fair. I'm just proposing some ideas now and then but am not working on this site.

here is my opinion:
the picture with the (indian :) ) developers locks a  bit pathetic, "give freedom" sounds very pathetic and maybe a bit overdosed, speculation has a negative connotation (does it? not my native language...), I would prefer investors.

this is a european perspective on marketing... US advertisement tends to be exaggerated / overdosed / promising the magic pill relatively to a European equivalent ...

I offered Invictus the ability to use my web team(which has built Peercoin (http://peercoin.net/) and Primecoin (http://primecoin.io/)), to offer a better stopgap site for Miami, but I guess they didn't want to do that. Best of luck, and I hope someone produces something awesome, preferably by Miami.

Remember you can always hack away at my design here:

I've also installed a blog at blog.invictus.io, but still needs a little work.

I'm going to be taking a little break to work on Project Stratus, Armory Guide, and Coingen before the conference. I'll be back at conference time with Invictus to show off all our awesome stuff! I promise to take lots of pictures for the conference so yall won't miss a thing.

Hi Bytemaster and community,

Just got back with the team.

We’re putting everything on Github here https://github.com/bitsapphire/invictus-innovations

For everybody else live versions can be used here http://bitsapphire.com/invictus/prev/

Our universal subpage design http://i.imgur.com/8SALlrM.jpg (slicing right now). We’ve chosen for this design because we’ve noticed that Invictus is moving very rapidly and things are changing too fast to do a set design which cannot accommodate big changes easily. By using a more standard documentation-style subpage redesigns can be done less frequently and consistency is greater from subpage to subpage. Other design proposals we’ve seen would lose this consistency and could look bad if the content changes to any significant degree.

The subpage design has only 6 text-based “differentiators”.
1. Headers
2. Text body
3. Quotes
4. Textboxes
5. Separators
6. Hyperlinks
(Photos can be added without a problem)

I personally would not add anything more fancy than this. I think everything that can be put in words can be presented very visually appealing this way.

We are also working on a blog design which can be used as a standard HTML5 email newsletter. Bytemaster is keeping the community up to date through the forum but everyday mortals cannot keep up with the forums. A Blog+Newsletter combo would be adequate.

TEAM BITSAPPHIRE IS ANNOUNCING SUB-BOUNTIES

We are valuing PTS at 20 USD. We believe that the Invictus Innovations brand is severely undervalued at the moment due to normal growth pains of any startup that wants to effectively boil the ocean. All bounties are subject to change without prior notice. Any changes will be published to the bitsharestalk.org forum.

Content:
2.5 PTS per subpage. Instructions (please read them carefully):

We will publish as Google docs the best entries we receive and leave it up to bytemaster to choose. If we require any more content we will publish more bounties.

  • BitShares X http://goo.gl/VOx0ZL
  • BitShares PTS http://goo.gl/W7CiM8
  • BitShares AGS http://goo.gl/HhdR2Q
  • DomainShares http://goo.gl/EDKQgM
  • Keyhotee http://goo.gl/GBoLiR

We will publish as Google docs the best entries we receive and leave it up to bytemaster to choose. If we require any more content we will publish more bounties.

Artwork:
  • BitShares X logo - 12.5 PTS
  • BitShares PTS logo - 12.5 PTS
  • BitShares AGS logo - 12.5 PTS
  • DomainShares logo - 12.5 PTS
  • Keyhotee logo - 12.5 PTS
  • A unique explanatory graphic explaining BitShares X. This should be purely vector based with unique graphics (no free icons should be used) - 10 PTS
  • If free graphics are used for the BitShares explanation - 5 PTS

Please send all entries to contact@bitsapphire.com.

We accept multiple entries from the same person.
We accept entries already used in other proposals as long as the original author submits them.
Good work. Like the layout, but a little note so sure about the colors.

Look nice, but you may need to replace the USA national flag, there is only one star on it? :o

This is a standard flat web icon flag for the US. Because it's standard we'll only look into potentially better icons if it the current one won't work with the overall final design.

Good work. Like the layout, but a little note so sure about the colors.

We might lighten up the colors depending on the logos that come out of our sub-bounties. Colors can also change depending on the Brand Book that needs to be created for Invictus Innovations.

I've just went through all the new bounties in the bounties section of the forum. Because Invictus already created a separate (and much better paying) bounty for infographics I am canceling our BitShares X graphic sub-bounty. All other sub-bounties are still on.

Invictus has decided to bring on my team. Our updates will be pushed to live to the repo.

Here is the half finished new Keyhotee Page:
http://invictus.io/keyhotee.php (http://invictus.io/keyhotee.php)

I've typo checked this page and issued another pull request. I've also filed a bug report for typos in the infographic. See https://github.com/super3/invictus.io

Itnom, how many words do you want for a subpage description?

I would say 400-1200 words each. It should be structured more like an FAQ but without direct questions. An example would be "the blockchain", "how banking becomes possible", "valuing anything", and then explaining it almost like an ELI5.

really nice!
The strong (compared to other colors) red and green (bank wins / you win) is a little over promising maybe and is the only thing strongly standing out. And why use two different fonts there?

The http://invictus.io (http://invictus.io) site meets all the bounty requirements, and has been actively used as the official website for the past month. Why has it not been selected as a winner?
I want to close this project out, pay out to those who participated, and transfer ownership of the web property to Invictus.  I just don't like leaving things unfinished.

The image we want is clean, professional and corporate bordering scientific in a way. I will run through quickly as I go offline in 3 days for 8 days. 1 mill tasks in between..

This is crypto. We need to communicate our message through every aspect of our branding. Through past experience (and research data), a company can have a superior product that will be under constraint by its advertising/ media rep.

What Invictus are doing is groundbreaking in every way, far ahead of our competitors. We do so well in in community, coding, economics, funding and fair adoption amongst other things but rather lack in official communication through announcements and communication through the branding scheme.

Everyone has worked their ass off and the community appreciates every moment taken to raise Invictus, even mistakes are valuable as we learn and build our success. I am not attacking any work and will never take that approach.

Invictus must devote more time to this area as we are losing much potential funding. There is a small percentage that will trawl our every forum post, the website represents us in a nutshell and I must stress how critical this is.

Starting with the main page http://invictus.io

It is basic and does not connect with what Invictus is about. The main earth/sun scheme will most likely need removal, link graphics, studio, contact and info layout + presentation is cluttered/ non corp etc

Much applies to the BTSX page but there needs to be a an immediate removal of the images. Monopoly, stamp, foreclosure. The comparison to the current bank vs BTS also needs to go. It could still exist if done in a professional manner and broken down to the decentralised mechanism, not from a radical point of view.

The AGS counter is good but the AGS graphics need customisation and a whole new individual image just as PTS BTS etc have their own true identity.

Clicking on the support BTS takes us t a page with info. Info is great but is difficult to navigate, same issue with header image + yellow and red writing.

Keyhotee also.

The underlying theme does not convey our image.

Take a look at the most professional and uber corporate companies branding, websites and marketing schemes. Thats where we need to be headed to instill trust in Invictus products.

Before I get a paragraph on 'decentralisation' and how we are not like these big corporations, I will tell you that is correct.

You will still however, need to play by human psychology and that will mean aligning the branding with what is synonymous with professional and corporate. Referring to scientific above is in the desire to take it one step further by achieving robotic/ DAC status in our marketing. Truly stepping beyond traditional prof/corp image to offer something that does not require trust, because it is in effect a program that cannot deviate. Our products require no trust to use that is true but in order for a consumer to adopt, there is certainly a level of trust (nobody wants to lose their assets).

Did I communicate the above paragraph effectively?

Foreseeing longterm there is the possibility of becoming the trillion dollar equity market. If that is going to be a reality its now time to lay off the anti-fiat/ government approach. Lets focus on doing our thing. If we do it well, we will take the market regardless.

You need to understand you will have the worlds gaze over this space in every way. Inside and out. Before you hit the stage and get under the spotlight, believe me, you want to have it together.

The scam accusations stem from the website. The layout with the monopoly men and bank-BTS comparison does look suspicious. The site offers no technical explanation and links to the AGS donation.

The scam accs come from prospective investors that were referred to the site.

I have personally addressed each individual.

I think you need to reconsider this slogan:

"Earn 5% or more on Anything"

Based on my compliance experience, this has the potential to get you in some deep s--t.

Just my opinion.  Take it for what it's worth.

Perhaps... we are considering alternatives...  though that statement was literally based upon hardcoding 5% into the blockchain so was true.

I thought the conclusion (somewhere else) was that +5% will not be an option anymore.
Bitshares depends on a social consensus to peg prices so anything that can cause scam accusition (promisis that sound too good to be true, litle explanation, a lot of claims etc. even if that all is possible) is realy bad and can make Bitshares not work. There has to be some traction / consenus at the beginningof pegging prices... TRUST in invictus is VERY important here.

Its not clear for me, super3 got salaries last 2 month from III, so he was paid for this web work. Why he could also claim this bounites on top of his salaries?
Just throwing in my 5 cent ...

Salery Jan 14 = 5.5 BTC + 160 PTS = approx. 7BTC = arround 5600 $ for web development.

Can i ask what was developed for this, if he can claim the bountie also!?
Please, everyone understand, I'm not here to complain, i want to understand this, nothing more ...

Super3 has moved on to other things as he was unwilling to commit to working with us full time and we are trying to close out this bounty fairly.

As far as I can tell any work Super3 did as 'work for hire' does not count toward him wining the bounty, it would be like a 3rd party hiring Super3 to compete in the bounty... the proceeds belong to the person who hired Super3.

So in addition to Super3 getting paid by Invictus, I had to personally spend 3 days of full time effort to get the site done in time for Miami.

We have already paid out one of Super3's sub bounties for the PTS price feed/chart.

Lastly no one produced a site that was "Ready to Deploy" so in theory no one won the bounty.  The Chinese translation was also not paid for by Super3 but came from our china team managed by Bo Shen.

So based upon the work done on the website we have:

$5600 paid (at todays reduced BTC rates... it was higher when we paid him)
$400   (40   PTS  PTS Live Widget on Invictus.io) paid to pooleja
$5000 for the efforts of Brian Page and myself along with the graphic designer who did the logos.

$11000 total, which leaves about $1000 dollars or 100 PTS that must be allocated to someone to close out this bounty.

In the interest of settling things up squarely, I would like anyone who contributed to the site under an agreement with Super3 to post here and describe your contribution and expected payout.   We will settle any bounties he offered.

Hi guys,

Apologies for the extended delay.

It was never in reference to 3I's bounty/financial operations. Only the layout of the site and then clicking on AGS that can direct you to angelshare donations/bids. There have been a number of scams that operate under this funding arrangement and to an outsider with no knowledge of 3I's activity one could understand the POV.

Clearly with some time spent poking about these feelings would have been quashed once the individuals had understood 3I. My concern was that prospective investors would not always take the time to sift through our info.

I have never heard any ill words spoken of bounty distribution, wages, contracts etc. I am sorry if my initial post caused confusion.

Very excited for the upcoming events! I go offline tonight for 8 days, although I can access wifi I will leave my secure devices in Australia.

Hoping to cruise the forums as a guest to keep updated,

Seeya guys!

I am not an official employee of Invictus. All work was done at an hourly rate on freelance. As per my discussions with Bytemaster I was supposed to get paid for the bounty and the initial freelance hours. The site was needed and used immediately, so I was paid for a portion of my hours, and the rest to be covered by the bounty.

That seems to be changed, so now I have about 30 BTC in freelance minus the amount already paid. I'm sure we will figure something out, but I'm sure Bytemaster and the team are busy with the snapshot about to happen.

Cassiopaia lets give it a few more hours for someone from Invictus to respond. After all there is still 100 PTS left. If it gets close to the deadline, and there is no response I'll send you 5 PTS out of my wallet.

As far as I can tell any work Super3 did as 'work for hire' does not count toward him wining the bounty, it would be like a 3rd party hiring Super3 to compete in the bounty... the proceeds belong to the person who hired Super3.
As per this I don't qualify for the bounty. Just the freelance hours that I did. Did you talk to Gregory yet?
