Title: Botnet on pool.
Post by: Djemi on December 29, 2013, 05:35:17 pm
It is very diffuse opinion that botnets are always not good practice in mining for a lot of reasons:

1)  moral/etic/legal reason
2)  they has not interest in coin itself but only in money making.
3)  botnets skyrockets difficulty and acts as disincentive for others minsers.

Is very easy avoid botnets monitoring continue connection/disconnection or filter away low hpm ecc..

I hope I can use my comp power in a botnet free pool.
What you think about?

It doesn't matter if a pool is botnet free if the network has any botnets because it will have the same effect.

Is there any way of limiting the amount of IP's that can mine for one MMC address? Considering that is the common denominator for botnets I know that maybe these hackers can just generate more addresses but this might stifle their efforts a bit...

Simple. Promote pools that require a botnet check.

Assuming the RAM and CPU requirements, including AESNI, acquiring these types of computers requires a certain amount of stupidity of the PC owner to not install anti malware or anti viruses.

Botnets are off the table.
