Title: Trying to get blockchain to sync
Post by: Ander on September 04, 2015, 05:23:13 pm
Alright, I am trying to get my client to work again in preparation of BTS 2.0.

The problem I have been having is that after the last time it crashed, when I open the client it is about 200 days behind, and then it says its syncing, but it doesnt make progress, or it might update progress after a coupel hours and say 160 days behind or something, but then never change again.

And now...it wont even open at all, the client just sits on the opening screen for hours and doesnt ever open.

What do I have to do to fix this?

Thanks!

Try the bitshares_client.exe .. its a more robust CLI version

Where do I download that?  Currently I'm running version 0.9.2 that I got off bitshares.org.

yes its also in the Programs folder. there is a tutorial somewhere where u can use a server with it that uses less ram. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3HxdE2wqJc
As someone who has just gotten through the pain of resyncing the entire blockchain with a 2 core 3gigs ram vm, yes it is extremely buggy and you wont see any progress.
But here is a tip. As long as you wallet is open and you can see in the task manager that the program is changing its ram use then its still syncing and working.
Also instead of typing your password in the middle of the frontscreen, click on go to my accounts in the topbar it will load faster.

If you want i can also upload my chain folder for you. So you hust have to scan for you transactions .

That means it's busy syncing.. I usually close the cli and reopen it after sync slows down

yes .. leave it open ..
you can check the syncing status at any time if you simply call "info" .. the first two lines give you some hint about where it is currently at ..
