Title: BitShares 101 in GitBook
Post by: testz on September 05, 2015, 10:54:18 am
Finally I finished publishing multilingual BitShares 101 book, it's wasn't so easy as I thinking before :)

Max Wright - BitShares 101 in English, Russian, French, Greek, Spanish and Korean languages you can find here:
http://bitshares.gitbooks.io/bitshares101

GitBook allow you to download book in selected language in PDF, MOBI and EPUB formats.

Please check languages version which you know for mistakes and if you found something make pull request at https://github.com/testzcrypto/bitshares101

Enjoy the reading  :)

PS: I will be happy to publish additional languages if someone translate it and give me a source and permission to publish, or someone make pull request to book repo with additional language.

Today BitShares 101 book translated for following languages:

My idea to publish these translation at GitBook and make them available for free.
If Max will allow me, I will publish English version of the book also for free.

So I just need permission from translators for translated versions and translated book source, all rest I will do alone. Sure if translator can publish his translation at GitBook it's will be even better.

Russian version of the book from begining available free of charge at:
https://www.gitbook.com/book/testzcrypto/bitshares101
and Google Play.

PS: If I miss some translation please post info here.

Great Suggestion TestZ.

Thank you for it and yes you are welcome to upload the english version to gitbook.    Does that mean that others can update it?

Is there an authority to can "ok"commits?

Will that be me?

Max.

Thanks for permission to publish.

Publishing in GitBook requires additional work. I plan to publish all under my account but I can try to make "organization" so probably it's will allow to add additional persons.
I will start and then we will see.

BTW Do we lost bitshares.tv domain?

Hello, with my BitShares French ConneXion team, we translated the book.

We are selling it at cryptofresh and giving it for free in our website. The goal is not to make a couple of bucks but is to bring french speakers to our web site.

I don't know gitbook but if there is a way to propose the book for a symbolic $ (with a % fot you) and give a link to our web site for those who want it for free, we would prefer it. If it's not possible, feel free to send me an email to bitsharesfcx@gmail.com, I'll send you a copy so you can give it for free.

Thanks for permission to publish French version, I understand that you looking for additional web site French traffic, so I suggest you to write additional chapters where to put link to your site with useful information for French users, like we did it at Russian version http://testzcrypto.gitbooks.io/bitshares101/content/TranslatorAfterwords.html
I hope this help you to pin French BitShares supporters to your site.

Looking forward for French BitShares 101 source with Translator Afterwords chapter.

PS: I send you e-mail as well.

Good stuff!

Only one version shows up right now in the google play books store (no English?):
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=Bitshares%20101&c=books

I will get the German version done ASAP, but I need access to the gitbook in English please:
https://www.gitbook.com/search?q=Bitshares+101

If there's a pdf or word doc I could have of the up-to-date English version, @bitmarket that would be best, please.
Then I can publish the English & German versions to play store..

I could even print a few and display them at the Expo.
Let me know, thanx guys :)

Yes, in Google Play available only Russian version.
If you have German version and you allow us to publish it free of charge, please send me source (.rtf, doc, etc) or make pull request to https://github.com/testzcrypto/bitshares101-multilingual where you also will find latest English version.

I am paying 1000 BTS per chapter of the BitShares 101 book into German:
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,16101.0.html

If possible, I would love to provide these at the Expo, so the more languages, the better! :)

I'd rather have a bts 201 book written and translated by then .. some statements in 101 are obsolete.

I hope i can release some nice whitepapers until then

Could one of you guys make those changes to the github 101 then? I will use your work to hire someone for the german translation from that point.
I really think we should have a 101 for folks.

Obsolete only Chapter 6 and 7 all rest it's a general idea of BitShares.

Chapter 4 has also outdated information about interest on MPAs and collateral demands.

I wouldn't recommend Bitshares 101 to any newbie until it has been rewritten with accurate information. It will just create too much confusion about how Bitshares really works.

My suggestion is The Bitshares Handbook (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,18219.0.html). The objective would be to create a book that you can give to a newbie and say "read this and you have a clear picture what Bitshares is and what you can do with it". It should have good explanations of everything that Bitshares can do. Anybody want to help with that?

First priority is to get a clear picture of what there is that has to be explained. A complete table of contents should be enough, maybe with some bulletin points with additional info. I'm thinking that good structure would be:
1) Users (people who use Bitshares to transact money and assets)
2) Owners (people who own BTS, they have to have a adequate inderstanding of the system so they can vote wisely)
3) Businesses (people who need Bitshares as a more or less essential part of their business)
4) Witnesses
5) Delegates
6) Workers (how to do a worker proposal etc.)
