Title: Suggested readings for trading?
Post by: Akado on September 07, 2015, 08:07:21 pm
I'm not a trader, I'm not doing this in order to try and be one, meaning I won't take it seriously but I'm kind of curious and would like to educate myself so that I can at least understand what others talk about when they use technical terms and analysis.

I don't even know if I'll have time for this, but anyway, I'm sure someone will appreciate it. Does someone recommend some kind of book, article, in particular? Does by any chance even exist something regarding trading that is more crypto related since I've seen people mention it's different from actual stocks, even though I don't know if this is true or not, but would appreciate if it did exist something.

Open to any suggestions.

There are a lot of good online resources.

#1 thing: support and resistance levels.
#2 thing: trendlines.
#3 thing: moving averages/MACD/crossovers.

Even more important thing: Learn to look at the chart free of any biases, try to understand what it is saying, then trade based on that.  Do NOT make a decision on what you think will happen based on your emotional attachment to something, and then try to use the chart to justify your decision.  <--- I made this mistake while holding my long term position BTS in bear market the past year.  Its hard.

For me it's less about knowing what to do, and more of doing what I know. Basic trading guides are useful, but beware that it's a mind-game, and like all games.. practice is king! Good luck :)

Buy low. Sell high (but not when you're high).

Read what everyone else is doing, then do the exact opposite.

When everyone else is panicking, buy.

When everyone else is m00n, sell.

Thanks all!

Yeah I kind of have an idea you have to pratice to actually get some results and know if you can apply your knowledge or not. But at the moment I'm only trying to get basic understanding and be able to interpret charts people share and understand what they are talking about instead of just reading random words which I don't know what they mean. It's not for getting into actual trading.

@Thuck
ahah the epic, buy when there's blood on the streets. You're missing the buy the rumour, sell the news I guess?  :P

buy the rumour, sell the news I guess?  :P

I threw that one out of the book once I figured out most all of the crypto "news" sites were in on the game.
