OK, so I finally managed to sync the blockchain and export/import my keys properly. But the balance shown in the 0.93c desktop version doesn't show up in the Graphene GUI version when the keys are imported. Is this as it should be?

Yes. (In the real 2.0 it will be BTS again.)

Where's the Graphene testnet? How does it work I upload my backup and it shows if the import will be successful and it just for test purposes and wont effect the balance in the current 0.9.3 wallet?

Current testnet thread here: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,18717.0.html
Importing your balance from 0.9.3 into testnet don't effect your balance in the real network.
