Post by: sepehr on October 14, 2015, 04:32:19 am
Hello everybody,

This is Sepehr.
I'm an old NXTer and I have several registered Assets there.
Came here to see what bitshares can give me more than NXT ;)

I may want to promote My asset in Bitshares, what should I do?

Thanks,

It seems the current backend server is down for some reason .. this may be the reason for the error .. please try later when they fixed it

Sorry, using online and light wallet you can't create account with dot (.), try to create account without dot, or wait until developers fix this bug.

If you still have trouble, you can go to https://bitshares.openledger.com, create your account over there, export your wallet and import into your light wallet.

Now I want to play with some assets and create one(The reason I'm here!) ;)

What is the cost to create an asset?

Can I have asset to asset like asset to pegged currencies(BitUSD,BitCNY) markets?

Once I created an asset can I change anything in it later?

How should I announce my new Asset?

Any help appreciated. 8)

You may want to wait until there are more GUI options to work with your UIA. I believe a patch is forthcoming that will address at least a few options.

Yes, asset creation is incomplete in the GUI atm, I'm gonna work on upgrading it this week.

I want to issue a pegged asset to fiat, My local country fiat(IRR), and I understood that I need to attract confirmation from 51+ of important guys from community.
By the way if that is the way I'm ready to do that.
I want "BitIRR"! If I could not do that I will Issue a UIA and I support pegged asset to fiat myself!

You can have IRR/BTS pair on BitShares by next week if there is enough demand/potential users. Invoking @xeroc

I'm not sure if there is enough demand in bitshares community. But I'm sure there exist enough demand in Iranian community to have pegged IRR cryptocurrencies.

Welcome, @sepehr if you are running an Exchange in Iran and you create a market-pegged asset like bitIRR then I am DEFINITELY interested.

Here is some info to get you started:
http://docs.bitshares.eu/integration/exchanges/index.html

The moment I see you guys appear in my wallet as a Gateway too, I would like to help you promote bitIRR. What you are doing is VERY newsworthy. Welcome to BitShares. :)

I will definitely start the steps toward bitIRR and your support is very very appreciated.
Let me read the doc you provided and It seems that I need a bit time because the consepts you guys are familiar with is very nonsense yet for me.
But I think I can synchronize myself with you soon, no worries. ;)

Not a problem, I will help out as much as I can and if you have a question that I cannot answer, I will try to bring in one of the Lead Developers. Most of the coding that you might want is virtually drag and drop too, so have your Devs check out this link as well (we have upgraded everything to Graphene technology):

Thanx again and I look forward to working with you! :)

Thanks a lot my friend,
Inspiring from your email address I have just registered "bitshares.ir" because I liked the technology that I read till now.
I have a lot of questions that I really don't know which one I ask first!
But let me begin with this one!

I have installed the new Bitshare 2.0 GUI, But it seems that it is not complete yet so let me know how can Install a full node CLI bitshare?
Every link on the bitshares sites only guide to the GUI and not a CLI interface!

Thanks once again,
Sepehr

Every link on the bitshares sites only guide to the GUI and not a CLI interface!

begin with...
http://docs.bitshares.eu/bitshares/installation/Build.html

then...

after building bitshares-2
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update
cd ~/bitshares-2/programs/witness_node
./witness_node --rpc-endpoint=127.0.0.1:8090
when you are synced, run a new terminal instance on linux and ...
Code: [Select]
cd ~/graphene/programs/cli_wallet

./cli_wallet
or
Code: [Select]
./cli_wallet  -s ws://127.0.0.1:8090
https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-2/wiki/How%20to%20become%20an%20active%20witness%20in%20BitShares%202.0#creating-a-wallet

some links that could help....

https://github.com/cryptonomex/graphene/wiki/CLI-Wallet-Cookbook

https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-2/blob/bitshares/README.md
replace https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-2.git instead of https://github.com/cryptonomex/graphene.git
and folder "bitshares-2" instead "graphene" on instructions...

I never used windows for bitshares but it is possible ...
go there... https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-2/releases
and download "BitShares-2.15.306-x64-cli-tools.exe" https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-2/releases/download/v2.0.151101/BitShares-2.15.306-x64-cli-tools.exe
here is the windows light client https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-2/releases/download/v2.0.151101/BitShares-light_2.0.151111.exe

You are welcome my friend  ;)

You need to
1) create a market pegged asset (bitasset) --- very expensive right now
2) convince the witnesses to publish prices

I can certainly add IRR to my price feed script .. but will do only AFTER the asset has been created (which, is rather expensive right now, 200k BTS for Lifetime members)

200k BTS (~660€) is a lot of money, but starting the market-pegged cryptocurrency for Iran is a HUGE deal.

I see a LOT of potential for bitIRR, so if @sepehr needs the financial assistance and is serious about this, then I am willing to loan 10,000 BTS towards its creation if I can get paid back in a few months (no profit needed). Maybe the rest of the community here would be willing to pitch in some BTS as well??

I can certainly add IRR to my price feed script .. but will do only AFTER the asset has been created (which, is rather expensive right now, 200k BTS for Lifetime members)

Thanks a lo @xeroc for your reply.
I'm ready to create BitIRR and pay 200k BTs for it.

But sorry to ask dumb questions!

1- How many BitIRR will be created? Do I should decide for that?
2- Do I should create it through CLI?
3- Is that all of this Asset at the beginning belong to account created it?
4- How can I  or any other Iranian entity can be a gateway for this asset?
5- How many witnesses should convince to publish prices? 51?

Thanks a lot,
Sepehr

200k BTS (~660€) is a lot of money, but starting the market-pegged cryptocurrency for Iran is a HUGE deal.

I see a LOT of potential for bitIRR, so if @sepehr needs the financial assistance and is serious about this, then I am willing to loan 10,000 BTS towards its creation if I can get paid back in a few months (no profit needed). Maybe the rest of the community here would be willing to pitch in some BTS as well??

Thanks for your generous offer dear @kenCode , I value it as a good friendship between us. And will let you know if I seriously decided to do so. FYI, I'm still not clear about how exactly BitIRR will work. How is the asset created how is it support by comunity and how is it deposit and withdraw by gateways. once I could be clear enough, I think 660€ is not so big deal to take action of it.

Is it required for BitIRR to have price  updates only in BTS?
Is it possible to have it in BTC or USD or something else?
Or is it possible that we have absolutely no price updates? Only gateways act and deposit and withdraw IRR in 1:1 basis

Thanks,
Sepehr

1) None will be created! Please read the whitepaper at docs.bitshares.eu/
2) bitassets can currently only be created through CLI wallet
3) BITassets belong to the network .. only "privatized" bitassets belong to
   someone else
4) That's mostly a legal and liquidity issue. You should definitely have some
technician that has alot of knowledge about the bts blockchain.
5) Not, sure .. but I think you need at least 51%(!) .. so just a few.

6. Is it required for BitIRR to have price  updates only in BTS?

6) Yes. Required!
7) you can trade it against USD or BTC .. your choice, but you need to borrow it
from the network using BTS! (* this is only true for MPA, not for privatized
   bitassets)
8) Not possible. You are asking for an "I owe you" (IOU)
9) It's a special command and no actual documentation is really available
   besides the code comments.
10) bitUSD is well supported .. what do you mean?
11) Via BitShares account

Read these pages from Bitshares.org to get a clearer picture what can be done:
Price-Stable Cryptocurrencies (https://bitshares.org/technology/price-stable-cryptocurrencies/)
User-Issued Assets (https://bitshares.org/technology/user-issued-assets/)

A little warning: documentation is still far from satisfactory so it might be hard to fully understand all asset possibilities, requirements and risks. If you are considering privatized smartcoin, you should know that nobody has done that yet so it is difficult to know what would be the best parameters for the asset. First one to do it will have to go by trial and error which might be expensive (unless you really know what you are doing).

Maybe you could start by offering assets that already exists, like bitUSD? With it you could familiarize yourself with Bitshares and understand better how it works. When you have the exchange working and preferably a few customers, you have better possibilities to launch succesfully the bitIRR.

Got it! User Issued Assets! Thanks Sepehr! :)
What are you planning to do with your UIA?  :)

Remember if you create a MPA (Market Pegged Asset), you will need to short it into existence and that requires a high collateral, which is a restriction to many, so they choose by going with a UIA like OPENBTC, METABTC, etc (Openledger's and Metaexchange's BTC assets).

Replies to items 5, 6 & 7 convinced me to check Ethereum!
Why is it required for a pegged asset to only be priced with BTS? Why not BTC?
I even convinced that as the pegged asset supported by the community it should be confirmed by 51 Authority, it's hard but ok, I accept it.
But why only in BTS? I cannot understand any reason other the vision to grow BTS price and that's not my target! ;)

It's your choice to go with whatever platform fits your needs.
But let me remind your that Ethereum does not have an operational:
* exchange
* asset management
* GUI

There are no BTC in BitShares .. those are also MPA and ultimately backed by BTS again.
You may later use bond contracts for lending, but the bitasset rules clearly say BTS are collateral.
BTW, privatized bitassets CAN use any other asset as collateral!!

Not 51 .. 51 PERCENT !!

Then you should wait until PRIVATIZED bitassets are more easy to use!

I don't care about easy to use!
I'm technical and have technical staff also to help.
So, let me know more about PRIVATIZED bitassets. What is that? Are you mean simply User Issued Assets or is it something different?

Thanks,
Sepehr

I'm starting to like the privatization better myself. I see great potential in the UIAs that OpenLedger have created so far like:
OPENBTC
OPENMUSE
OPENLTC
OPENUSD
OPENCNY

how about you hook up with Ronny @ccedk so he can sell your IRR asset, pegged to its value, as:
OPENIRR

Just another (easier) route you could take... :)

@kenCode: those are NOT privatized bitassets.

@sepehr: you can read more about those in the whitepaper from docs.bitshares.eu
essentially, they are market pegged asset where the issue can customize some parameters.
For instance:
* price feed providers
* collateral asset
* maintenance collateral ratio
* disable/enable global settlements
* margin call triggers
etc. ..

I would recommend to go through the "create_asset" call in bitshares.org/doxygen

Cheers

True for MPA (Market Pegged Asset), not for Privatised Market Pegged Asset, they have an issuer as xeroc said

Welcome to the future  8)

I don't know for the HIGHFIVE token but let me explain for some other tokens I know of:

BROWNIE.PTS is a token issued by Daniel Larimer (BM), this token offer you a part of the sharedrop from Identabit (Identity BC) and ShareBits (Social Tipping Bot). Dan publicly stated that he will give brownies to everyone that help grow our community.

BTSFCX is a token issued by us (BTS French ConneXion), this token value grow as people register new BTS account @ OpenLedger following our ref link (https://bitshares.openledger.info/?r=bitsharesfcx#/). We publicly stated that we will give BTSFCX to everyone that help grow the french community.

MEGUSTA is a token issued by fav, you can earn 1000 MEGUSTA for making a BitShares related "Me Gusta Image" see  https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,20167.0.html

You can withdraw your tokens to your BTS account @ http://btstip.io/
