Title: Project BtsTip [freebie]

Project BtsTip is a project that is intended to allow one user to tip another through the forums directly here at bitsharestalk.org
THIS PROJECT IS STILL UNDER DEVELOPMENT AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE

A user can login to our site ( http://btstip.io/ ) with their bitsharestalk username (no password required).
From here you'll see what your memo is, in the case of the account hybridd the memo is asdfeeeeyyyybby (lol).

To fund your account, you must send your funds to the bitshares account kuro113 with the memo found on the site.
If you wish to view our balance checker log, it can be checked here (it updates every 10s) http://69.30.232.146:8092/Home/BalanceLog

Once an account is funded, you can tip someone by posting on bitsharestalk.org the following conditions must be met:

this is awesome...

it took 2 years, but we will now have the ability to tip one another directly from the forums!  I mean it isn't Ultra (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,17388.msg221408.html#msg221408)...but it is one hell of a start. 

My hope is that the community will see the value of this and recognize that there are many other features they could add if only we pay them!  Hell DPOS-Hub could even use it for their site and pay to have it customized (which would be FAR cheaper if you guys helped the freebieservers team get a worker proposal to do all they want to do)! 

Who knows...maybe beyond bitcoin will use their work in interesting ways too!

I am pretty happy, I am not paying anything now for those toys [of yours and others].
Unfortunately, as things usually go, this will not be the case 2mo from now.

If you used a shorter memo, you could reduce the fee (a part of the fee is derived from the size of the operation)

Nice job guys..  +5% Two questions:

1) Can we tip different assets that might have lower xfer fees? (and buy/sell on market, in bigger quantities, for BTS)
2) Would it be useful to add another argument to squelch the tipbot reply?

1) Yes, we're looking into discussing the ability of tipping assets at the moment, and we are all potentially discussing being able to let users redeem their tip in whatever currency they want (kind of like ShapeShift.io, but we wouldn't be using them).

It would look something like this for tipping assets:
btstip roadscape 50 USD

which would tip you in the USD asset.

2) We've discussed the response and we believe this is an important part of marketing this product, so while the answer to this question is yes, it probably won't be done.

this response was something i spoke to them about recently an I am pumped to know that it will be possible (but first i'm planning on getting some extra real-world work hours to help pay them to do it).  They are working for low enough wages as it is...

One thing I can say for this part is that if it is annoying to people, we could move it back to pm notification.  It would still advertise and would do so only to people who will not get angry for seeing it constantly. 
Now with that said...what if we could put a ticker on the forum showing the most recent tips sent out?  normally when we run into obstacles, we can find an answer by thinking through it...and I'm pretty sure that would be great advertising (front page of the forum) as well as less frustrating to everyday users.

This is why I have been advocating gamification for so long.  Just didn't realize at first that the referral system would make so much more possible.  I mean sure, every other ecosystem has sharing, but not a referral system that enables people to earn future cashflow from sharing.

It looks ok, but current on-hover effect is very annoying for me.

2nd thing, IMO there is no point of displaying a message "click to sign in" if this is only the one option on the website. Just show login form.

Great project!  Is it possible to send someone a tip that must be claimed in a given period of time, and then if it's unclaimed in the given period, it would go back to the tipper?

this is something we have been considering, a claimed / unclaimed system - however we are currently in the process of getting the system stable and the visuals updated so we have a few things to work out before we get there, we will keep you updated :)

Suggestions :

- Add the btstip-io avatar to the "Make all deposits to the account above" image.
- Auto-update the balance on the page when a deposit is made.
- Add some form of security/privacy (password/2FA) so people cannot view every accounts balance and target large balance accounts with phishing attacks on the forum.

Did I do something wrong above? It does not appear to have sent the tips. Also fav sent a tip to the "Tuck Fheman" account but I do not see it listed in the account on btstip.io.

You yourself don't necessarily need to deposit it, you could be tipped it you just need it on your account so there's something to cover the transaction fee of withdrawing it out of our system

The bot makes use of the search function on this forum, it doesn't check every individual post. Likewise, it's not practical to monitor each individual user authenticated through Facebook on our service nor is it practical to look for the hashtag on Facebook due to privacy settings.

to follow up on this, platforms like facebook that allow private messaging and commenting but enforce strict privacy are the exact reason we created a tip generation system.

you can post tips around to any platform now, even the ones we already had apis for :)

Sorry, there was a data center failure (I asked kuro to post a notice about this, not sure if he did) and thats what took our site/service offline. I'll have a chance to look into the withdrawal and generating codes issue tomorrow morning, been busy with exams. Sorry once again, exam week is always rough.

Fuzzy sent me some COPPERTICKETS but I can't see them when I log at btstip.io       [EDIT] It seems the transaction did not complete

Also I requested a security code but so far I have seen no notification in the forum or my email (In the forum I had the "Allow users to email me" disabled)     [EDIT] Finally I recieved the code.

When I click "withdrawal" I get the message "You must sign in to bitsharestalk as chryspano to withdraw, click here" and I'm redirected at the login page of btstip.io. I suppose I should enter the security code now(If I had recieved it) in the second field, right?

Also btstip.io seems to be very slowly up to non responsive at times

In order to fund our account  we need to transer funds with the memo we have, to the accound "kuro113" or account "sharebits"?
[EDIT] What does the Link/merge the account with bitsharestalk do?

I apreciate any input, thanks

best to mention them when asking questions.  its a nice and effective feature.  wonder who thought it up...

anyway. make sure you send to sharebits in your wallet. then get the unique code in the deposit page and place it in the memo field.
