Title: BitShares 2.0 Import keys = (name) – keeping 7of 8
Post by: Ermes on November 12, 2015, 07:16:15 pm
Hi,
I'm importing keys from BitShares 0.9.3c
One of the keys does not have full funding. Keeping 7 of 8.
What is the problem?

I want to claim the funds.
I see http://docs.bitshares.eu/migration/howto-importing-wallet.html
1. I have to write >>> Import_balance <my_account_name> ["*"] right?
2. Here it is written ["*"]?
3. Where do I have to write it in the Consloa of BitShares 0.9.3c?

Please read through the whole migration guide carefully. I tried to make clear
which commands are supposed to be put into BitShares 0.9.3 and which are
supposed to be put in the cli_wallet of BitShares 2.

Please explain CLEARLY what you want to achieve and what you have already tried.
From what you explained above, I can't figure out how to help you.

It is understood.
I want to migrate from BitShares 0.9.3c OpenLedger
I open BitShares 0.9.3c. I have not all my funds.
I'll> _Console. I write wallet_export_keys C: \ bts \ mykeys.json
I open https://bitshares.openledger.info/
1. Wallet Management Consolo
2. Import keys. I have not all my funds. In the name it appears. Keeping 7 of 8.
I stand at this point.

If you don't see all your funds in BitShares 0.9.3 then you need to first sync the whole 0.9.3 blockchain to find all your funds.
Only when you see all your funds, it makes sense to export your keys for BitShares 2.0!

See the migration guide: http://docs.bitshares.eu/migration

Do I have to write in BitShares 0.9.3c?

That command is for the Bitshares 2.0 cli wallet. You should try with the Web wallet first!

Have you got all the funds in bitshares 0.9.3c?

Is your bitshares 0.9.3c client fully synced?

No.
Can you open your 0.9.3c client, go to the upper right corner, click on your account name --> Advanced and then on "Console".
Once you are there, type "info" and tell me the number you see in the first line, next to "blockchain head block num".

BitShare 2015-10-14.7z.
This already downloaded to the browser.

BitShare 2015-10-14.7z.
This already downloaded to the browser.

Extract that file. You should find a folder named "chain".
Now go to C:\Users\*your_username*\AppData\Roaming\BitShares
Here you will find another chain folder, rename it as "chain-old"
Copy the downloaded and extracted chain folder and paste it here
Start the 0.9.3c bitshares client

At this point, if you still don't have all the fund, go to the console and type "rescan".
This could take a long time, just wait and be patient, you can check the scan progress in the bottom left corner.
Once the scan is completed, you should have all the funds.

Let me know

Let me know

I am in the exact same boat as him. I downloaded the blockchain and then the command -> scan
once that was completed...still funds missing

then I did -> wallet_regenerate_keys ACCOUNT-NAME 10500
...finished this morning: still funds missing

then for 1 last try this morning: wallet_regenerate_keys ACCOUNT-NAME 35000
hope I am going to get my funds out of that one.

Am I missing something?

As far as I know, that should works.
Let us know if it doesn't work after the key regeneration.

Do you see transactions with "unkown" as recepient?
Have you checked your balance with "balance" (the transactions history "balance" tends to be incorrect)

Yes, I have plenty with "Unknown" as recipient. So I have to type "balance" in the console.

Also, how do I define the value in wallet_regenerate_keys ACCOUNT-NAME VALUE ?
10500? 30000?

Don't want to end up having to do this with a third time.

(Thanks for the help, it will be a good use of ShareBits once I can finally recover my funds! )

Usually, the VALUE for regeneration of keys can only help for MARKET TRADING transactions. If you have traded a lot, you need to have a rather high number.
If you only traded a little, smaller numbers should be sufficient.

Its still a pain in the ass.
Here is an alternative approach that would scan each transaction individually

wallet_scan_transaction <txid>
wallet_scan_transaction_experimental <txid>
wallet_verify_titan_deposit <txid>

Not sure if any of those work for market transactions .. but please try them on any of your UNKNOWN transactions and see if it helps.

Thank you xeroc, if I get my funds back, you'll receive a generous tip! ;-)

what is txid? (transaction id) that I must do 1 by 1?

txid is the transaction id that you either see in your over view (some 8 character thing) .. or via "history" in the console ..

I'm here. http://docs.bitshares.eu/migration/howto-importing-wallet.html#web-wallet
I see.

Wallet Management Console
             Import Keys.
Found 14 private keys (reset)
    Account                  of keys
     (Name)            Keeping 10 of 11
Unclaimed balances belonging to these keys
               Asset totals
                xxxxxxx BTS
       Import                    cancel

I give to import. I see in the upper left corner.

This wallet has Already Been Imported.

As I can recover those funds?

Hey @xeroc , I finally got the right balance to showup in my 0.9.3c client.
But when I go to openledger to import my keys and claim my balance, it says that I have already imported those keys and don't allow me to claim my balance.

Am I in a pickle?

I meant how did you resolve your problem with the unknown transaction, since rescan didn't work for you.

Anyway, just to let you know, you can have more than one wallet in the same browser, just going in the settings and create a new wallet there.

Better late than never xD
Enjoy your bitshares!

After the "rescan 1", I did "wallet_regenerate_keys ACCOUNT-NAME 30000"

The bin file is the backup of the Web wallet.
Put it in a safe place and have more than just one copy.
And make a backup of the brain key as well.

Happy to hear you finally managed the migration.

Edit: you have to use the "Restore Backup" functionality to import a bitshares-2 backup.
