I'd like to have email alerts for important stuff that's happening on the blockchain, like worker and committee proposals, updates/hardforks, etc.
Could we use committee funds (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,20470.0.html) to pay somebody to set up and run an email list dedicated for alerts? Or would it be better to do it as a worker (proposal for one year for administering the list)? Or could somebody do it just as charity without compensation?
Of course, this could be developed further, like connecting it to IFTTT (https://ifttt.com/).
Right now people have to keep track of everything by visiting forum or GitHub. That's not very practical solution.

I could certainly build something like this
Any change on the blockchain can trigger an executable ..
If you put together a list of things you would like to have I can tell you a price ..
-
Here is a list that I can quickly think of (propably there could be a lot more stuff):
- new committee proposal
- committee proposal comes into effect
- committee member is voted in/out
- new worker proposal
- worker proposal is voted in/out
- witness is voted in/out
- witness starts to miss blocks
- hardfork is coming
- updates on wallet (this should come from GitHub or straight from devs?)
- proxy changes it's votes (user can define which proxy he wants to get notified for)
- daily/weekly/monthly stats (transactions, new accounts, etc.)

Those can definitely be done from the blockchain pov
- hardfork is coming
Not sure about this one yet

- daily/weekly/monthly stats (transactions, new accounts, etc.)
Those will need other data .. e.g. from github etc ..
-
We could also have - just for fun - a notification if the number of transactions and volume reached an all time high
-
Eventually this could have everything that might be interesting or important to somebody. Anybody could customize what they want to be notified for (checking a box or something, also daily/weekly/monthly digest).
But at least for now it's enough if we get only all important changes straight from the blockchain.
I think this is a really important tool for our shareholders. Of course the shareholder has to know what's happening in the DAC so he can act accordingly. Hopefully this will reduce voter apathy and get shareholders more activated.

I think what you are asking for is the nullstree journal .. We should resurrect that initiative!

That's not necessarily what I was referring to.... I was thinking more along the line of,
24hr total volume
Top 3 active assets
% of change in bts price vs daily/week/yr
Current active 2.0 version
You know....stuff like this to show that the exchange is actively working, not back office press/news.
Just my opinion :)
