It does say most influential people not people who have most advanced blockchain tech. It's a popularity contest.

bm has the industry's rockstar potential but doesn't do enough publicity to make the list.  but then again bm's got a lot going bitshares, identabit, graphene, plasma - eventually the market will speak about bm's accomplishments louder than popularity contests.

that said, bitshares could benefit from some public face ...

We have this discussion every year at this time. It's a good ploy for them to get some users on their site.

If CoinDesk was game, it would be pay to win. Still, it's not important for Dan not to be there as long as BitShares is still in early stages of development. Once it works, he will be known and CNX will be given the acknowledgement they deserve.

Let's get all those extra features ready, and then publicized Bytemaster. If you get prediction markets, bonds, and an EVM it will be amazing.!

That list is the most POWERFUL PEOPLE in Bitcoin. It's got nothing to do with how good of a developer you are and more to do with how much political power you have.

Bytemaster is not very good at politics.

Bytemaster hasn't been very influental this year. He has been busy planning and producing Graphene. Of course it's great to see so dedicated effort, but it has a price: Bitshares is still very much unknown in the cryptoscene. Most of people have heard it's name but very few know it's advantages.

Looks like Coindesk didn't receive their Brownies :P

BM did receive an honourable mention in 2014  http://www.coindesk.com/10-influential-people-bitcoin-year/

Which is very good when the vast majority of people are directly Bitcoin related.
