Dear Bitshares community.
It's time for a serious, professional marketing and PR campaign for BitShares.
I have worked with several big fintech and blockchain businesses like BnkToTheFuture.com, Factom, Shapeshift, and many others. (check out our portfolio) (http://www.hypercubestudios.net) My team and I know how to generate excitement and convince investors to invest in a project.
I've been thinking the past two months on how to give BitShares marketing a BIG boost, and help it get the attention it deserves.
I came up with a three-pronged approach.
1 Create an exciting promo video targeting the Chinese market. To be specific : target the speculators who love getting involved in blockchain related projects and altcoins.
2 Hire a professional Chinese PR specialist to promote the video on Chinese social media and forums.
3 Create a second video that serves as a more in-depth explainer of what the Bitshares platform is capable of and how it works- for an international audience
Currently, the best way to grab attention for BitShares would be to a big rally on the charts. It's a fact that for a while now, the Chinese have provided the most buying power in the digital currency market. Recently, Factom with their Factoid token have been a great example of that.
We then leverage the sudden spotlight on Bitshares by presenting the audience with an good explainer video, and we demonstrate the maturity of the Bitshares platform by highlighting businesses like OpenLedger.
At Hypercube we have worked with Dana Chen in the past, who has helped Shapeshift.io become very succesful in China. She is very interested in Bitshares and would write our script for the Chinese video, as well as act as our PR and Marketing specialist for China.
We have the experience and skills in place, what we need now are the funds to make this happen !
Before I set up a crowdfund, goals, deadlines, escrow, etc...

In my opinion, bitshares lacks good video materials.
But to be honest, by "good" materials I think something better than: http://www.hypercubestudios.net/video/149765289. I hate "drawing"-like video.
In the other hand, videos like http://www.hypercubestudios.net/video/152868370, http://www.hypercubestudios.net/video/110923742 or http://www.hypercubestudios.net/video/110246989 are really good.
Before I set up a crowdfund, goals, deadlines, escrow, etc...

before we will answer whether we are with you, it would be great to know, how much you want to crowdfund ;)

Well, it's a matter of taste of course. The "whiteboard" video format is very popular and has proven very effective. StartChat raised their crowdfunding goal in a single day with our whiteboard videos. ( https://bnktothefuture.com/pitches/2213/_startchat-your-money-your-messages.html)
Getting a bigger budget and a longer deadline means we can make more customised and higher production value.

Well, what we can do depends on the budget. I can make something nice by myself, and not hire Dana to promote it in China, or I can put together a bigger team, make two amazing videos AND make sure that it gets a ton of coverage in China.
This post is meant to gauge interests. If we get a lot of encouraging posts like yours, I'll take the next step and take a hard look at what we need. Different milestones would result in different levels of promotion and production value.

I think it's definitely worth going for China. We lost a great deal of confidence there since the merger. It would be nice to have people back.
I think it's easier if you could provide the budget for Dana + 2 or + 1 video. Then the community would discuss and work a way out and try to reach a consensus about a fair price.

I think this is the quality of video we need to show the advantages and ease of use of Bitshares. He shows how easy it is to use in a real world setting which makes people want to use it.
In my opinion, this is the quality what we need in terms of videos and its shows usability of the platform.

To be honest, I doubt there's enough interest.
We'll need to raise thousands to make this happen. With just 9 replies 3 retweets and 375 views.... in two weeks.

Set up a worker proposal, 30k BTS a day for 2 weeks. That's 2k USD right there. Lay out how you will spend them, begin small and if people like the first video you'll easily get voted in for more media projects.. I'm sure people would donate as well, but it's hard to get enough funds for a professional video that way.

In my opinion this is because you wrote that in "Marketing" section of the forum. This is correct, but sad truth is that because most of us have nothing in common with marketing (hardly believe, yeah? :D), a lot of people never read anything from that subforum. Create worker proposal, then you will have full attention of the community.
