Title: what happened to all the trading pairs on BlockTrades?
Post by: kingslanding on July 14, 2016, 01:33:27 am
Just went to blocktrades.us and noticed a lot of the previous trading pairs are gone.  Can't even buy or trade bitshares.  Is this something temporary.  If not, what happened?

It's a temporary thing. We were having a lot of problem's processing a ton of steem buys after the price started exploding and we noticed the system was heavily loaded so we shut down all but the most active wallets temporarily to see if it would help. But it looks like the primary problem is just an issue in the steem wallet itself, so we'll be enabling the other wallets again soon).

It's good to see some of the pairs back now.  But are the missing ones like peercoin going to be back?

At the moment it does not appear to be possible to go from SteemUSD to BTC using blocktrades.

Is my memory fooling me, or the option was there some days ago?

Any ETA on it returning?

Steem Dollars -> BTC is back. We also have SBD -> BTS, SBD -> OPEN.BTC, and SBD -> ETH.

::) interesting.. what about your gateway?

We only operate a bridge on BitShares (i.e Bitshares accounts can trade coins directly with our automated trading platform).

We disabled our gateway many years ago. We only setup the gateway initially as a real-world testing system to develop our gateway technology (which we license to other companies) and didn't really promote it, so it was never a significant revenue source for us. At the time, OpenLedger was providing a reliable gateway (and we were maintaining it for them at that time), so it also didn't make sense for us to compete with our own customer.
