Title: An appeal to revitalize the forum
Post by: karnal on August 15, 2016, 10:44:25 am
While I like steemit as much as the next person over here, something has been concerning me as of late, and that is how fewer people appear to be posting fewer posts .. meanwhile if we look at steemit, we are all active there  ???

I wrote my opinion about this phenomenon .. it's not meant to be a controversial post, though I can see how some will see it that way ..

Let me know what you think ..

There is not that much to talk about now.

The product is stable.  No new features are being added other than maybe stealth at some point.  Not really any new projects.

Personally I think steem is just a giant circle jerk of people that post shit content in the hopes of getting upvoted by a whale.  The people that are making money are usually chicks who post half naked pictures while useful post get completely buried by crap.

The whole scheme of making money to like posts on the internet is extremely shady to me.  The pump was also a giant just a manipulation of CMC.

I agree about BTS just being stable.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around why there would be a lot of buyers of steem.  Yes, it has value from a social media standpoint, but has reddit made a lot of money?  How do you monetize it to grow in value?  I would think the pressure from people dumping steem after getting $ from their posts would keep the price down.  Especially the more it grows.

That's not the purpose of Steemit. It gives people a voice without being afraid of getting censored by the government or other parties. There are more features coming which makes steemit more than just another social media,  as of now it's not like that either. No other form of social media site pays the user for their original content as steemit does.
I for one love steem, i don't make any money on it but i enjoy reading and commenting on the content i wouldn't find or see anywhere else.

Browsing the top posts, can't see any naked chicks trying to earn cash.
Browsing Active, i still can't see any naked chicks trying to make cash.
Browsing new, i think i saw a sundress somewhere but no naked chicks trying to earn cash.

The top content is either cryptocurrency articles/news, political views, art or life stories as of now.
Steemit is not full of softporn as you nod towards, steemit contains what we want it to contain. The majority as of now upvote quality content that brings something back to the community.

STEEM powered forum style gateway site with tags related only to Bitshares.

Done.

Problem solved.

Sorry I hurt your feelings again tbone, you are oftly sensitive... And I'm very sorry I don't think your ponzi, click bait centralized "blockchain" investment is a good idea.  Try pitching your steem story to people who don't use this forum.  I'm guessing you will have better success than just trolling me.

Maybe i'm missing the boat and this thing is going to the moon, but I doubt it.  I'm not the only one who's tried it and left it... just look at the charts.

There is already a first version of a Steem forum. http://forum.steemitforum.com/ Check that out. I agree with Karnal that we should be more active in the Forum too. It is still the home of many great ideas :) Steem is for announcements and fun, the Forum for real work.

It is stable, sure, but I can see so much more innovation!

Stop-loss and stop-profit orders for instance, really high on my books.

STEALTH is coming.

We still need to recruit a network of global entrepreneurs and expand the fiat gateways that are available.

Marketing (online and offline) could be improved A LOT.

Just some items out of the top of my head!

In theory.

Already users can be flagged down and made invisible (fair enough to combat the spammers, I guess).

There are also talks by certain prominent users about flagging "offensive" content.

That it is all stored on the blockchain and that being censorship-resistant is all fine, but the reality is that steemit.com will always be the main "gateway" to the data on the STEEM blockchain, "nocensorit.com" would take off only for a minority of users, to the extent that it wouldn't really matter..
